I'm really looking forward to your next episode, and that's no lie, especially since it will complete your comparisons of SNES and Genesis games based on Disney movies.
Muia mAllord in cold shadow can work Sega genesis NSTC repo carts exists so they can add one more game with the Disney magic we must mail them a repo cart
I've always suspected this was being developed as a comic book license until Probe/Acclaim became aware of the movie in production. As evidence that only part of the game is actually based on the film, and the rest is based on the Dredd Vs. Death graphic novel.
This game/movie is tied into my memories super heavily to the year it came out. I wasn't even a huge fan or played it much, I would hit up the Genesis demo kiosk at a local department store pretty regularly, and the movie/game had a crazy marketing budget for sure. I don't think I opened a gaming magazine for that entire year which didn't have a two page spread advertising it. The movie itself was pretty meh and as I learned more about Dredd the decisions were baffling. It was the tail end of that era of action films for sure, with both Sly and Arnold slowing down and the industry changing as a whole. As usual great video from beginning to end. I don't think I've ever seen an episode that failed to make my day at least a little bit better. You guys are an absolute treasure and I appreciate all the work that goes into making these.
The Rob Schneider stuff made me crack up and subscribe right away...I clicked because I love that you're facing the Genesis and SNES against each other (and yes, the Genesis comes first, I'm sorry/not sorry), but that opening had me giggling...love to see more from you both.
Glad to see you guys back. I wish this video had been done sooner, I purchased the Sega version previously and it appears I made the wrong JUDGEMENT. Great video as usual gentlemen. Cheers P.S. I think Dan has the black lung pop!
Guys let me tell you I love your skits so much! Also are you have plans to do Dragon the Bruce Lee Story snes vs sega someday? Is perfect for a less crappy game category😅
Oh come on. Games based on movies in general, have always been horrible. Very few games based on movies are known for being great games, and even fewer are known for being good games. You can find 100 random games based on movies, and you are guaranteed that less than 10 of those games are thought of as good or great today. Here is why. Games based on movies are usually just a cash grab. They are just like all the other movie merchandise, made cheaply, and are just another revenue stream for the movie. The only difference is a lot of the other movie merchandise goes on to be collectors items, but the games never do. Just look at Atari gamas, because some of the games based on movies for Atari, are literally known as some of the worst Atari games ever created.
@@chrisgullett4332 I beg to differ. Some eras were better than others. The Super Famicom / Mega Drive era did saw A LOT of good licensed games, going from decent to excellent. Even among the weakest entries, the games were mostly solid and well made enough, for most of them. OK there were some cash grab and very poor made titles, but maaaaaaany were good enough, if not VERY good in this era to be honest. Surprisingly, I think the PS2/GameCube had a decent ratio too.
@TheEvathcebor Not sure why you re disagreeing with something i did not say. I said games based on movies for the SNES and Genesis are generally not considered great today, which is true. There are very few movie based games for either system that are considered to be great, because most were bad games. It is the same today as well. Games based on movies are on the lower rungs of game genres. Games based on movies as a whole have been way below par. It has been that way since the Atari. Most movie based games are trash.
This was my introduction to judge Dredd and it was a fun film to watch. I am surprised to see how many video games based on the film. Thanks for this entertaining video.
@@ammonitidafor sure. Even though I prefer the Genesis overall, I'd file Judge Dredd along with Sunset Riders and Zombies Ate My Neighbors where the SNES version is clearly superior.
Great episode guys. Probably another case where the game based on a movie is better than the actual movie. I think I played a bit of this game on an emulator on my old computer. Definitely more worthwhile on the SNES if you ask me. Also awesome work on the "Deleted Scenes" segments, figured Dan's Stallone would show up to warn the characters not to give him no lip.

One thing to mention about the weapons is that for the Genesis, the projectiles fire slowly compared to the snes and for some odd reaon, the armor pearcing rounds do not go through the walls in the genesis but in the snes they do.
Solid episode, it was definitely a close battle but wow, the SNES version definitely had some nice extras in comparison to the Genny one. It's interesting seeing the similarities and differences of two games with the same title on both 16 bit giants. Keep it up guys, I always enjoy your content.
Because I'm curious and nerdy, I looked at some of this game's screenshots in their unstretched resolutions and, unsurprisngly, the round elements in the HUD icons are perfectly round in the raw screenshots! (For example: the shield showing your number of lives is exactly the same number of pixels wide, which gets stretched on SNES to keep the same 4:3 aspect ratio.) Of course, as we all know, the Genesis has a slightly wider resolution than SNES which changes the shape of the pixels, and you could probably count the number of games that actually took pixel aspect ratios into account on one hand! The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Street Fighter II. The arcade version has a wider resolution than the SNES, but the devs redrew the sprites to account for this so things wouldn't look squished. Of course, not every dev were bothered to take those extra steps.
Idea for your video: Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers, Gamecube VS Dreamcast. The game had two versions: 1) for PS1-N64-Dreamcast and 2) for PS2-GC. The idea is to compare not just different ports, but two versions. Ironically, the most technologically advanced ports of these two versions are created for DC and GC, respectively. It fits your format! Launch console wars of the sixth generation, this has never happened before! Sega then quickly withdrew from the console market, and perhaps this game is the only opportunity to highlight this piece of history. Think about it!
