This was a lot of fun, perhaps more fun than the game. I really enjoyed the "cropped" song, though I prefer Def Leppard's classic hit "Crop Crop Till You Drop". Not pointing out the cropping is like Pat not being allowed to talk about colors. Fair is fair. I'm trying to figure out what the hint for next week is. It always Bugs me when I can't figure it out, but that cute Bunny picture sure does lift my spirits.
Easy win for Super Nintendo. Bugs Bunny in Rabbit Rampage: Developed by Sunsoft, who has a long list of incredible games, including Journey to Silius and the first two Batman games for the NES. The game is faithful to the source material, considering at the time Warner Bros. and Viacom had a very cozy relationship thanks to Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon, thus we have faithful recreations of certain Bugs Bunny cartoons. Graphics look like the cartoons, sound effects and music are top notch, and the voice over work is amazing. Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble: Developed by Probe Software, who was infamous for the god awful ports of Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. The story to the game is very lackluster, having nothing to do with the cartoons featured. Each level is a ridiculous "Find the McGuffin" maze run, some with absolutely horrendous level design and some with a time limit. The character models are very lacking, the sound quality is awful, and worst of all, unlike Rabbit Rampage, no voice overs! It doesn't help that the story makes absolutely no sense, and by the final stage, the story changes! Again. *_EASY WIN FOR SUPER NINTENDO!_*
The Monstro level and Escape From Monstro level are creepy AF. I was actually creeped out by how realistic the whale looked when you didn't move fast enough in the chasing level. It creeped me out so much I actually cursed for the first time and my mommy slapped me on my mouth for the first time. 😂
@consolewars Thank you for all the hard work you put into Console Wars! I never miss an episode, and it’s such a fantastic way to enjoy my weekends. Your dedication and creativity are truly appreciated! keep up the amazing work!
They are doing an Bugs Bunny episode next I can't wait. Also a great episode a little better than I expected actually. Some surprisingly great jokes thrown it was one of the better Disney episodes.
Another great vid, guys. Thanks for everything you do. There’s still so much left to cover. I surely hope you compare *Weapon Lord* and then fighting game exclusives, *Killer Instinct* vs. *Eternal Champions* or *Virtua Fighter 2* . Also, still wanting to see an episode comparing SHMUPS. Great games on both SNES and Genesis! I’ll keep saying it until I see something.
@ hell yes! *Space Harrier 2* or *Burning Force* vs. *Axelay* . Honestly, *Burning Force* is my all time favorite Genesis game. Something about the design of it was just spectacular to me. Also, there isn’t a better Genesis soundtrack ever! It was the game that made me want a Genesis. I have it on Nintendo Switch, but it’s the arcade version rather than the Genesis version. Namco brought the game home to SEGA’s console in 1990 and most people have completely forgotten it. *Burning Force* is an obscure title, but it deserves some attention by some retro enthusiasts. The same stuff can be said for *Axelay* for the SNES. The Mode-7 effects with enemy ships and obstacles coming over the horizon are absolutely incredible. The music was also great. Everything about this unique Konami shooter was groundbreaking, for the time. *Axelay* and *Burning Force* are, to me, held in the highest esteem. They both capture the arcade shmup style that made gaming an absolute blast in the 90’s. They were both magical games from the 16-bit era and they are some of my favorite games to this very day. I would LOVE to see a Console Wars video pitting these two games against one another.
I already know for a fact that the Bugs Bunny games episode is going to be a washout. I played the Genesis game when I was a kid, and I didn't like the idea of going through a maze _in every single level,_ just to "Find the McGuffins!" Rabbit Rampage is gonna destroy Double Trouble.
I can't believe it took me so long to find this channel. already subscribed and binging episodes and sent links to tons of friends. Thank you guys for excellent content. I've had so many similar discussions with my buddies growing up.
Great video fellas! Do you guys still want suggestions? If so, I think an episode on Last Action Hero would be cool. It'd be one of those "Which one is worse" episodes and I imagine you could think up some really funny skits for it!
Hey guys! Kind of a more general "Super NES vs. Sega Genesis" comment here - I love that you capture the community sentiments in your scripted debates! "That game is cropped" is a perfect example, or the way you script the audio debates - you always do your best to capture "this is what the Sega fans are thinking" and "this is the Super NES fans are thinking" and then you always do your best to go objective! So, one thing I haven't noticed in any of your videos (and trust me I've been waiting!) is when Sega hits back with "Mode 7 looks awful though!" - or "Mode 7 is soo lame!" I remember all these comments from the Sega-16 forum days "I don't get how people aren't bothered by everything being flat" - "Mode 7 is just blurry and always controls awful" - "Mode 7 is so much lower resolution than the rest of the game and it lags" - "Somehow they never noticed that sprites only scaled in empty scenes, or that the screen throw in Turtles in Time is just a three frame animation, not Mode 7." For example when we debated The Great Circus Mystery on forums back then, the Sega players always talked about how their exclusive level was better because it *did not* use Mode 7 and thus looked nicer on the eyes and played better. (I like that you tied gameplay for that game, because that felt objective - and that's probably the episode where it seemed most fitting to bring the old community arguments into the script for Graphics) I always liked that Hyperstone Heist took out the 3D throw, because it was a huge buff for fighting. You WANT the slam throw because it protects you and hurts / kills the other enemies on screen. It was always an "uh oh" moment to get the 3D throw in Turtles 4 because you might get hit in an intense fight. The Genesis enemies being more aggressive likely had something to do with that decision because it's far more noticeable that the 3D throw leaves you very vulnerable. I did Google around some and I see that these kind of Mode 7 dissenting arguments aren't exactly easy to find so maybe it's a case of "you had to be there" to know about these discussions back in the GameFAQs days, some of those quotes above are direct from Sega-16 forums while some are from memory. But I still hope this kind of classic community argument can find its way into a video in the future! :D Thank you for still making these videos after so many years. You're still my favorite channel on RUclips, both of these consoles deserve all the love and passion they get. Saquon Barkley gonna break that all time rushing record?? : )
Great video and digging the details of both versions. Suggestions of future episodes are: 1. monopoly ( 1991 video game) ( SNES vs Genesis) 2. King of the monsters ( SNES vs Genesis) 3. King of the monsters 2 ( SNES vs Genesis) 4. Thomas the tank engine & friends ( 1993 video game) ( SNES vs Genesis) 5. Areo the Acrobat ( SNES vs Genesis) 6. Areo the Acrobat 2 ( SNES vs Genesis) 7. Zero the kamikaze squirrel ( SNES vs Genesis)
Finally Pastrami admit have an Oil problem!! XD....Never had saw this Pinochio game, looks really fun and Graphics and animation really cool on both platforms! Remind me a little from Lion KIng and Aladdin! Great video guys!! Se ya Laterrrrr
The next Console Wars will be Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage (SNES) vs. Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble (Genesis). I hope someday you guys could tackle The Flintstones: Treasure in Sierra Madrock (SNES) vs. The Flintstones (Genesis). Other requests: Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures Virtual Bart Krusty’s Super Fun House Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow Bonkers The Incredible Crash Dummies Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure Bart vs. The Space Mutants (NES vs. SMS)
Great to get some more of the deep Console Wars lore, curious to see where it'll go from here. But all in all another great episode about one of those games that, rightfully I feel, gets overlooked.
Guys, by the Sock-Puppet Joke, I had almost tears in my eyes from laughing. Not only because of your texts, but also, because it looks so funny at all. Great again.
Woo Hoo! Amazing! Astounding! Excellent! This might be the Best Console Wars Episode of 2024, and a perfect Episode to end 2024 with! The Story! The Sketches! The Categories! The Actual Game! It was all perfect! Love how balanced and not one-sided the Categories were, thus creating unpredictability for me and leaving me wondering "Which is Gonna Win?" throughout. Great work on noting the Differences in Details in the Graphics and Sounds. Liked hearing the contrasts when you pointed out the Missing Sound Effects and Bits of Music between each Version. I was actually wondering if the Genesis Version would narrowly win because of the, um, "Respawn After Losing a Life Sequence" being skippable in that Version, unlike the SNES Version. Still, I guess that was just a minor thing, not big enough to break the Tie in the Gameplay Category. Plus, I suppose the SNES Version usually being the cheaper Version is a good point too. Oh, and this Episode's Story was Wonderful! Great use of Officer Pastrami here! I was actually expecting a Pinocchio Puppet, or at least a Pinocchio Doll to be an actual Character with Lines in this Episode. Y'know like the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Dolls were Characters with Lines in your "Great Circus Mystery" Episode. However, seeing as Officer Pastrami and Pinocchio are both Puppets, I believe putting Officer Pastrami in the Spotlight for this Episode was a Excellent Idea! Having the Pinocchio Video Game be the Subject of the Episode was a fine Excuse to give Officer Pastrami a "Day in the Limelight", as I think TV Tropes would call it. I think the whole "Become Puppets to Be Immortal" was a nice idea for the, uh, Motivation or Driving Force of this Episode's Story. Also, I liked the Fairy and Geppetto you got for this Episode. The Fairy got at least a chuckle or two out of me? Were you trying to make her a "Discount Blue Fairy"? That was the impression I got, and I liked the result! A few more things: - Thanks for focusing on the "Being a Puppet" part of Pinocchio and not the whole "Nose Grows After Telling a Lie" thing. The Nose Thing isn't really that big a thing in Disney's Pinocchio, or Pinocchio in general, at least from what I gather. I did read the original story as told in a few children's' books, so it's not like Disney's Pinocchio is the only version of the story I know. - Loved how to took some time to focus on the whole "Defeating/Killing the Coachman" thing, with a Mortal Kombat reference to go with it! - Nice little touch including a reference to "Pinocchio's Revenge"! Nice to see you're not afraid to make obscure references! - Loved the "Cropped" Song! Great way to make a Joke about how often the whole "SNES Version is Cropped" Point comes up! Anyway, there's probably more I wanna say, but I think I've said enough for now. Thanks so much for this Episode! Like I said earlier, I think this was a Perfect Episode to end 2024 with! I'd even say it ended the Year with a Bang! I'm just a tad disappointed that the Episode to end 2024 in December wasn't for James Pond II : Robocod, a.k.a. Super James Pond, 'cause both Versions of that Game are Christmas-Themed. Ah well, there's always Next Year! This Year's December Episode totally makes up for it. Oh, and one more thing. That "Next Episode Hint" is easy! It's gotta be the Bugs Bunny Games, "Rabbit Rampage" for SNES and "Double Trouble" for Genesis. Hey, I've been looking forward to seeing those Games being compared, so I guess I'll be waiting with bated breath! Wow! Sure spent a long time Commenting! Thanks a Bunch for Everything! Farewell for now! You Rock!!!
@@ConsoleWars You're welcome! Sorry to bother you, but I rewatched this video and I have a few more remarks and a few questions too. I did say "there's probably more I wanna say" in my first comment, after all. 1. The Pinocchio video game actually, well, I guess you could say, holds a special place in my memory for one reason. I remember seeing the game on a TV Screen at a Video Game Store, as a sort of "demonstration" I believe. The game was left on the Main Menu with no one playing it, so that the TV Screen would show an "Attract Mode" or "Demo Mode" at intervals on a loop. I saw the same thing done with the "Toy Story" video game for SNES and Sega Genesis, on a different day, probably at the same store. 2. I recognized the "Cropped Cropped Cropped" Song as being a parody of "Hot Hot Hot", originally by the singer known as "Arrow" (real name: Alphonsus Celestine Edmund Cassell). I felt so pleased and proud of myself when I Googled "Hot Hot Hot" to confirm that! I do remember hearing "Hot Hot Hot" when I was a child, though it was probably the Buster Poindexter version, not the original. 3. There's a Sega 32X version of Pinocchio that was made, but never released. Hmmm, maybe there's an Alternate Timeline or Universe out there where the 32X was released, and you end up making a "What's the Difference" Episode with it. 4. Dan in this Episode says he never saw the whole Pinocchio movie, obviously referring to the 1940 animated Disney movie on which this game is based. So, Dan, did you really not see the whole of that movie? I did see it, in case you're wondering. 5. Are you guys watch or read any other version of the story of Pinocchio, other than the 1940 animated Disney movie? I didn't see any other screen adaptations or read the original translation (it's an Italian story) with the original illustrations. I did read at least 3 children's book versions of Pinocchio that featured lots of colored illustrations. I borrowed from at least 1 library. That's how I already knew many years ago that Disney's Pinocchio is significantly different from the original story. 6. I'm still impressed that you mentioned "Pinocchio's Revenge". I think that qualifies as an "obscure movie reference" and that you chose a good point to reference it. Have you guys actually seen Pinocchio's Revenge? I haven't, but I do remember seeing a VCD of it in a bargain bin many years ago. I'm from Singapore, and VCD (Video CD) was a popular home video format there for many years. 7. I still think that the Sega Genesis version having the ability to skip the "Respawn After Losing a Life Sequence" would have helped the Sega Genesis get the edge in the Gameplay. Do you guys really think that the fact that the SNES doesn't let you skip the "Respawn After Losing a Life Sequence" isn't a big enough thing to break the Tie in the Gameplay Department? Alright, I think that's enough! Sorry to dump all this on you!
I feel great to have requested this. I have the SNES version, and I know it has the heart for Music and Presentation even if the genesis version has Wish upon a Star in the cutscenes similar to Toy Story on the Genesis. The game play is where the Genesis may have its advantages like screen resolution and better colors, but the Stromboli Stage may be the game's Achillies heel even if using the Six button controller. The SNES sings with great controls in all fronts.
Idea for your video: Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers, Gamecube VS Dreamcast. The game had two versions: 1) for PS1-N64-Dreamcast and 2) for PS2-GC. The idea is to compare not just different ports, but two versions. Ironically, the most technologically advanced ports of these two versions are created for DC and GC, respectively. It fits your format! Launch console wars of the sixth generation, this has never happened before! Sega then quickly withdrew from the console market, and perhaps this game is the only opportunity to highlight this piece of history. Think about it!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Next episode hint is Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage (SNES) vs. Bugs Bunny Double Trouble (Genesis)
@@TBONE_2004Totally agree
The Monstro level and Escape From Monstro level are creepy AF. I was actually creeped out by how realistic the whale looked when you didn't move fast enough in the chasing level. It creeped me out so much I actually cursed for the first time and my mommy slapped me on my mouth for the first time. 😂
Hilarious 😂
“Babe I’m gonna leave you.” I love it
Good ear
So iconic change between these 2 chords.
@consolewars Thank you for all the hard work you put into Console Wars! I never miss an episode, and it’s such a fantastic way to enjoy my weekends. Your dedication and creativity are truly appreciated! keep up the amazing work!

Another great episode! Awesome work guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I didn’t even know there was a Pinocchio 16 bit game. Might check it out. Thanks for the great video guys!
Our pleasure!
It's been forever but awesome! Great to see another episode :)
Thanks again for the games!
One of my favorite channels in RUclips! Keep doing what you do! I will always support this channel!
Wonderful video on this iconic Disney film video game adaptation. Keep up your great work.
Okay... the crop song is a stroke of genius!
The Jonathan Taylor Thomas film isn’t a Disney remake, it was made by a different company
Am I going out of my mind? I could swear you did this game already.
They are doing an Bugs Bunny episode next I can't wait. Also a great episode a little better than I expected actually. Some surprisingly great jokes thrown it was one of the better Disney episodes.
Thank you!
Dan, glad to see you're keeping the channel going. Hope it's paying off for you (your fanbase is very grateful).
I still enjoy doing it so even life’s a little more hectic these days, I’ll keep doing it.
Personally, I just like having the occasional Christmas tree thrown at me
Another great vid, guys.
Thunder Force 3 vs Thunder Spirits
Great video guys as always are you guys just getting better and better. You guys are incredibly underrated you guys deserve more subs.
A new Console Wars episode?! Christmas came early this year!

Great video fellas!
Do you guys still want suggestions? If so, I think an episode on Last Action Hero would be cool. It'd be one of those "Which one is worse" episodes and I imagine you could think up some really funny skits for it!
We did that one already!
@@ConsoleWars Really? It's nowhere on your channel. I just searched Last Action Hero on your channel with no results. Is it hidden?
So, one thing I haven't noticed in any of your videos (and trust me I've been waiting!) is when Sega hits back with "Mode 7 looks awful though!" - or "Mode 7 is soo lame!" I remember all these comments from the Sega-16 forum days "I don't get how people aren't bothered by everything being flat" - "Mode 7 is just blurry and always controls awful" - "Mode 7 is so much lower resolution than the rest of the game and it lags" - "Somehow they never noticed that sprites only scaled in empty scenes, or that the screen throw in Turtles in Time is just a three frame animation, not Mode 7."
For example when we debated The Great Circus Mystery on forums back then, the Sega players always talked about how their exclusive level was better because it *did not* use Mode 7 and thus looked nicer on the eyes and played better. (I like that you tied gameplay for that game, because that felt objective - and that's probably the episode where it seemed most fitting to bring the old community arguments into the script for Graphics)
I always liked that Hyperstone Heist took out the 3D throw, because it was a huge buff for fighting.
Thank you for still making these videos after so many years. You're still my favorite channel on RUclips, both of these consoles deserve all the love and passion they get.
Saquon Barkley gonna break that all time rushing record?? : )
Also a new episode? WHAT?! THAT'S IT! ARE WE DOING THIS?!
Yeeeeee!! CONSOLE WARS!!! thank you very much!
Great video and digging the details of both versions. Suggestions of future episodes are:
1. monopoly ( 1991 video game) ( SNES vs Genesis)
2. King of the monsters ( SNES vs Genesis)
3. King of the monsters 2 ( SNES vs Genesis)
4. Thomas the tank engine & friends ( 1993 video game) ( SNES vs Genesis)
5. Areo the Acrobat ( SNES vs Genesis)
6. Areo the Acrobat 2 ( SNES vs Genesis)
7. Zero the kamikaze squirrel ( SNES vs Genesis)
Another fantastic episode, and for a game that I didn't have any interest in back in the day, but now want to play because of you!

Holy shit! They're back.. welcome 🤗
I was caught singing "Old Teen Wolf" while folding laundry and my Dad looked at me like I was the psycho. Lol
Woo Hoo! Amazing! Astounding!
A few more things:
- Thanks for focusing on the "Being a Puppet" part of Pinocchio and not the whole "Nose Grows After Telling a Lie" thing.
You Rock!!!
Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed comment. It was nice reading so many kind things
I love this show. Can i suggest virtual bart?

Boo, you all lose. *hint Gym Socks .
Great video! Are you planning to do an episode on the two Speedy Gonzales games (Los Gatos Banditos for SNES and Cheese Cat-Astrophe for Genesis)?
Here in Portugal its 18h, cant wait
It’s weird that the nom-skippable dying animation didn’t tip the gameplay scale to the Genesis side.
😂😂😂 you guys never cease to amaze me another great hilarious video! 😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it
I feel great to have requested this.
I swear, the Sega Genesis soundtrack sounds like the Main Street Electrical Parade :O
We're back in business! Also, when was the last time you made a What's the difference episode? Maybe do Hook for Genesis and Sega CD in your next WTD.
*HECK YEAH!! I'm early!!* ❤
I kinda expect the snes to always have sound in the bag, because of the better sound chip. so everything sounds fuller and with more detail.
I'll I take the genesis gritty digital sound, rather than the soft flutes and harps fairy land music of the snes.
Pat: "just like all the other 90s Disney games"
My good man, have you ever played the two Beauty and the Beast games?
Idea for your video: Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers, Gamecube VS Dreamcast.
The game had two versions: 1) for PS1-N64-Dreamcast and 2) for PS2-GC. The idea is to compare not just different ports, but two versions. Ironically, the most technologically advanced ports of these two versions are created for DC and GC, respectively. It fits your format!
Launch console wars of the sixth generation, this has never happened before! Sega then quickly withdrew from the console market, and perhaps this game is the only opportunity to highlight this piece of history.
Think about it!
Good show.
