was there 1981 -1983 184th ord above 547th still have friends to this day we had a band CONUS great times perfect place to explore we worked in Munster bussed out every day our medics and cadre were in Cambrai across town
I was there November 1988- October 1990. E. Company 51st Infantry 1st platoon. I loved it there. Was there when we became jump status and got rid of the soft cap and switched to the maroon beret.
I used to live down the street in E.L.K. from 88 to 92. Stressful but fun times there. Kelly Barracks had an awesome mess hall....really good food whenever I decided to go there for lunch.
I was there around 96-98 (413th Signal, 94th ADA). Kelly Barracks was a dump back then too and also a little slice of heaven. I got sent there right out of AIT and the unit I was sent to (414th Signal) was in Saudi Arabia. Got to screw around for 8 months basically doing nothing before the unit was deactivated and I was sent to 1ID in Kitzingen. Probably the worst place to send a new recruit but it was fun while it lasted.
1980- 83.. with 575th PSC , We shared with 547th Eng. a medical Co. love that place, great sofballs games , Plus I use to run the movies with at the small Theather we had.. wow great Times..
Thats where I was at in 1981 until 1983, 2 years at the 596th Maintenance Co US Army Kelly Barracks.. Good to see it again. That place used be inhabited by the SS before the war. They had the wreath on the top of the main door with the swastika drilled out of it. We stayed there in three man rooms. I had heard the SS had 6 to a room. They were not destroyed by the bombing in WWII. I was young then. Now I am an old man with fond memories of that place.
