That was such an amazing analysis of this song! Your way of breaking down songs by explaining seemingly complex concepts in such simple ways is truely amazing. It's inspiring, and gives me the confidence that I can be a better player! Thank you for what you are doing!

Great comment. Was going to post something very similar. I mean, it's like sitting in a Master Class where you know the guy in front of the room has forgotten more than you'll ever know about guitar. I honestly have no business on this channel because I don't have a clue about music theory. But I do play country rhythm guitar in a band and find him to be a likeable guy that has the same passion and enthusiasm for music that I do...and we both play guitar. Lol.
      If that makes sense.

This video pushed me to a subscription. You're a talented dude, Michael. Love the breakdown and analysis, but most of all, your excitement and enthusiasm in your reactions. You are a great teacher and seem to be just a good dude.

I am a heavy metal guitarist (drop tune) of 27 years. I don't feel like I'm where I should be after 27 years partly because I never worked on the CAGED system. You have inspired me to dive head first into it and go over some fundamentals. Everyday I feel like I have been closer and closer to putting the guitar down. I stumbled upon your channel a few months and my excitement for guitar has picked up tremendously. You have easily become one of my favorite guitarists and a mentor. Thank you for the great work! Never a dull moment! ;D

Hey Michael I covered this on my channel with a friend and gave a lesson but I really love how you break down these videos with actual music theory! I’m self taught so I’m clueless on a lot of the music theory! It’s really nice to hear your take on songs! I’m always trying to better my playing so thanks so much for the help! 👍

This is just such an earworm and beautiful song. It has that perfect serenade formula that is extremely nostalgic and warm. it almost takes you to a fantasy world where you're just perfectly happy and falling in love with your childhood dream girl.

Instant follow. You're so great at theory & what sold me was then you said "we do intervals, not frets." I loved that. On a side note, is it just me or does anyone else get a Phil Collin's vibe from the music? Might just be me but that's the first thing I thought of when I heard this.

Wow - great breakdown of the song and the guitar. Hearing the song, the melody, chords/dyads, inversions, and progressions.... my poor ears, mind, and fingers are overwhelmed. I will have to listen through this several times to get it into my fingers and ears. But super thanks. Love the breakdown. And really love the enthusiasm. Great stuff. Thanks so very much.

Enjoy all your breakdowns of music. That said, I don’t know a diminished from a 9th root or any of what you speak of, but I play all of those chords. 63 years old, been playing since I was 10. Self taught playing by ear and watching other player’s hands. That’s it. Wish I knew what I was chording, but hey, I still enjoy.
    Is that weird?

I don't think I have ever commented on a video before, but after watching pretty much all of your content I am a massive fan. You put out great work man, keep it up! I think you would have a good time with Hippie Radio by Eric Church when he does it acoustic. Awesome song, and with the way you pick apart a song, I think you would have a good time with it. Regardless, keep up the great work and I will keep on watching!
