Last staffy I had I found him wandering on the side of the road, I was driving past and my mate said "don't pick it up its huge and looks crazy" but I said to myself that if he's still there when I drive past he's coming home with me, true to form he was still pacing around the factory estate so I pulled over, opened the back door, whistled and said "come on then", his tail wagged like crazy and took a run into the back seat, my mate in the passenger seat was very nervous because of the sheer size of him, you could tell he was a fighting dog that had been dumped.
I took to the vets and they did there thing and the police took photos of him and said if nobody claims him within a week then I could have him, that week was horribleand I prayed that nobody would actually claim him, but a week past with nothing and I took him back to the vets to be registered to me, I named him bruce, nearly 2 years he was like my right arm, a perfect gentleman who was brilliant with any person despite what he must have gone through but any other dog he just froze and was almost in awaiting kill order from me, I alwssy kept him away from other dogs, the day he died felt like part of me died with him, carried him in my arms to the vets with my jumper wrapped around him, the person who drove over him didn't stop 😢
Before they made him go for his big sleep he looked at me stopped pining and almost gave a little smile as he licked my hand, I haven't had a staffy since after over 10 years, I'm still getting the courage to own one again after that ordeal but nothing will ever come close to my Bruce😞

wow. Thank you for sharing this. I have so many mixed feelings. I realy feel for you, I haven't lost a dog but I just want to cry when I think that the day will come. First off, you did such a great thing bringing him to your home. I understand you have alot of feelings and you probably know this, but still I want to say that you gave bruce wonderful last years. You saved him, and even tho he's in dog heaven now. You did a great thing and it was totally worth it, even tho the pain you feel now. Remember, you gave him the best 2 years of his life that he ever had. I don't want to focus on his past, I hate people who treat any living being like that and I get so upset. I'm very sorry for your loss. But you did a great thing and if you're passionate about dogs and if you do got the time for a dog, to exercise them and love them. I think you should get a staffy.
It won't replace bruce but you will make another dog so happy! Thank you for sharing!

@@InsideTheDogWorld thanks, yes I will definitely get another staffy in the future, I will get one from a rescue centre rather than take a gamble with some online puppy farmer, I appreciate you saying I did the right thing because looking back I know I did and those couple of years back as brilliant, I'd sometimes wake up and he would be asleep on top of me on his back, such a big lump of a dog 😂, I used to take him everywhere with me and when he was alone he'd never stress and destroy the house or bark, his chatter was hilarious when we would pass a certain chippy, he had to have his steak pukka pie, I'd only have the pastry 😂every time I see I staffy I just smile and say "lovely dog" to the owner.

Sweethearts and beautiful all Dogs. Our Dogs sre our Children, our most beloved Family. Love Dogs like You love Yourself, comfort them, understand them, and always help Dogs. * Place human-dog friendship and great love above everything, in first place. STOP KILLING DOGS. * BAN breeding Dogs. Forbid Dogs euthanasia. BAN poisoning Dogs. STOP HIGH KILL SHELTERS. STOP KILL SHELTERS COMPLETELY. Animals must be with only those, that can provide them with the best care and real love.
Dogs are the most tortured animals in the world. Every year, millions of dogs are thrown out into homelessness. They are needlessly bred, mistreated, tortured, killed through homelessness and by pervert caretakers who breed dogs for sale or for food, leather, fur. BAN CRUELTY TO ALL DOGS. THE LAW MUST BE CHANGED. Ban using Dogs to fight. Stop chaining Dogs. Ban leaving Dogs outside in Winter and bad weather - Dogs must be with the best Caretakers in loving homes. Dog Lovers must do more, even with giving opinion.
Dogs that are not wanted should be put down with morphine, if they cannot be put for adoption and taken by very loving persons.
Ban dog breeding. Dogs should live up to 100 years, like the Dingo's in ecological and clean nature, where soil, water, air and food were pure.
Almost all shelters should be closed, except a few that are government approved and sponsored to preserve the species, and where the dogs will be bred in very small amounts for the pure love of the species - not through rape that is done by most breeders, or even forcing dogs to mate, or in-vitro which is also forcing to breed. A loving owner does not have to sterilize his pets because his/her care is so good that mating is not allowed. Sterilization is against nature, it's very painful, deprives the body of needed physiology, hormones, deprives the body of a natural way of cleansing itself and accelerated aging, also causes psychological changes that are unnatural. Dogs were since thousands of years humanity's friends around the world, among all the other animals. Within the last decades, in literature, within scientific circles, among artists and also among common folks - dogs are being treated as best friends and loved the most.
Stop using Dogs and all other animals for testing in labs. * What happened with all these sweet Dogs, and what will happen ? All channels, organizations, should check on their Dogs ( rescued, adopted, having, showed...). Wishing all Dogs loving forever hearts, good homes and the best Caretakers.
Every dog at home, must have a litter box accessible at all times, because this is the animals health, it suffers without it, and this is a cause of pains and ailments which become more severe over time. Almost all owners mistreat their dogs, ordering them to hold their needs and relieving themselves only when it is convenient for them. The dog is the only animal in the world, that man forces to relieve itself only when it is proper for him/her, which is unacceptable abuse. A dog must clean its body as often as it needs, by itself and whenever it needs it. A dog is the only pet friend kept at home that cannot - is not allowed to - relieve itself at home. When we take a dog home to be our friend - and all dogs should be treated as such - it needs, close to its bed, a litter box. Especially when it is older or sick, because it can have more than one bed at home, depending on the apartment/house size. These places must be dry, warm and clean, but not hot or cold, not where there are chemicals. The bed must be well washed and very well rinsed to not leave any chemicals, like for small babies. It is not understandable, and not forgivable, that people keep dogs at home without a litter box, and they say that they love dogs and that dogs are their friends. Many people abuse dogs and even throw them out on the street (make them homeless), because dogs can't keep their needs and relieve themselves at home at some point. Some even have their dogs put down for this. That's why many dogs that suffer, because they cannot relieve themselves at home, and suffer pains, have difficulties with breathing, and increasing ailments - can sometimes vandalise things at home, are restless, howl, cry or lie and cannot move.
A doggie toilet can also be a canalized shower tray/shower base. Dogs should never use a human toilet, because it is dangerous for them, not only difficult. Respect their abilities.
Remember that a dog feels like a person - suffering, pain, the need to relieve itself, it needs to go out and get fresh air and movement. It needs to be able to move at home and outside, and be safe. People are responsible for their safety.
A dog must have drink as much clean water, as it needs. A dog cannot eat only food that is made specifically for dogs, especially low quality, because it will get very sick. No irradiated foods. Avoid artificial preservatives, flavoring, colorants.
A dog owner eats more than one meal per day, and they are balanced for nutrition and taste. Everyone needs a balanced diet for health and taste, no one can withstand the same kind of food, all the time, which not only is disgusting, but also causes ailments. The dog is forced to eat what it is given by its owner, but it should be able to always pick, to always have a choice of variety.
Love dogs, because they deserve it. Take care of them very well. Remember, that dogs are dogs, that they have their specific needs and their ways of being, of their species. Since hundreds of thousands of years, people all around the world, treated Dogs as their best friends and dearest household members. Never use dogs for sex, it must be forbidden.
Scientists talk about growing meat on shelves (production for testing purposes has successfully begun) - of many animals - which would be the best for our world today, because there won't be animal killing, which is barbarian and very painful. This would be most humane. The world needs such technology, which would be not only most humane but also ecological. 🐕🐾 🌷🌷🌷 People who rescue dogs and other animals are really great. We appreciate your sacrifice. Many people love a dog like a dearest person, like a best friend. Best Wishes! 🐕🐾 🌷🌷🌷

And while we were waiting out the back he thought yep. This is the block time to renovate and ran through the toilet wall

Now that I have the time at home to own a dog I’m rescuing a dog and I was wondering should I give the dog some time to get used to me (build a bond )or should I start training soon as I get him so we can build a bond through training ? I want to one day have a bond and be as good at training with him like you and molly

    • @InsideTheDogWorld

Building a bond first for sure. Trust & respect, showing your dog that your trustworthy & FUN. So ofcourse you can train with your dog at the same time your building a bond. But I'd say focus more on playing with eachother and then mix it up with training. So maybe after a sit / lay down your reward is playing with a tug of war toy for example. Thank you, if you're having a blast with your dog and at the same time training, you will have the best relationship with your dog at the same time he/she will be very obedient and smart :)

I totally agree with ITD-W!! Have fun whilst bonding and nurturing. As the “alpha”/ teacher, your wise nurturing will create a sense of safety in your puppy. This bond of safety will mean that he will have faith in you which will give him the freedom to develop with a calm confidence within that will be with you both the rest of your days.

I am curious about how to keep their paws from scratching your wood floors. How do you prevent your floors from being scratched when they get as excited as they do in the first minute?

    • @InsideTheDogWorld
      @InsideTheDogWorld  5 лет назад +1

There is floors that is more dureable and strong actually. And ofcorse we cut them down but it seems like it's nearly impossible to make them short enough that don't touch. Perhaps if we cut them more frequently it might be done. But they don't realy make any sort of marks in the floor. If it is, it's probably made by me 😂
Edit: They don't touch the floor when they stand still, not even close actually. Had to mention that too :)

Great video and excellent reply. Bringing a Staffordshire home is a long time dream. They deserve my best. Thus, after 4 months I am still researching. My wrist is broken badly so maybe when I’m healed I’ll find a puppy. My son has a cat so maybe this is why I must find a puppy first? Your advice is very welcomed. ~ dedi

@@dlwsport250 Awesome, Staffies are a wonderful breed! And I do have many tips, Most I feel is better to take on when he/she have moved in.
Broken wrist sucks.. not sure how bad it is but ofcourse it would be easier when it's fixed. But if you can walk your pup and give food I don't Think it's any problem. The Most Important thing I'd say is to have your pup when you have alot of time over. So your pup gets the attention he/she needs and also get slowly taught how to be left alone.
And socializing with the cat would be great 😅 the cat will probably not be so excited but just to make sure your pup respect the cat.
There's alot of training videos that I want to make aswell, hopefully some will be helpful :)

@@InsideTheDogWorld Wow! Thank you so much for your generous reply and time. With no doubt, the puppy that does come home will have my first and foremost attention. I loved teaching high school students every year and I am certain it was because I treated all of my students with respect and as individuals. A Staffordshire (any pet) deserves the same attention, respect and nurturing. Since my son left his cat in my care four years ago, she must be socialized properly with my new addition. The wrist is as the surgeon put it is "pulverized". I can almost hold a cuppa that is full. Physio is three times a week and sometimes takes up more time than originally scheduled. A puppy cannot be put on hold when the PT people are running behind schedule. Once I feel comfortable with proceeding without therapy, I will visit looking for my "fur-ever" friend. Thank you for making yourself available when he/she eventually comes home with me. Cheers.
