Plot:
Final Fantasy Versus XIII revolves around a prince named Noctis Lucis Caelum, who is the last heir to an unnamed kingdom in which the last Crystal is kept. Because of increasingly apparent modernization in contrast to neighboring nations, Noctis' kingdom has isolated itself from the outside world. The game is set as two nations battle each other for dominance and for the last Crystal held by Noctis' kingdom. The game has been said to initiate at the "clearing" of a long Cold War between warring nations that revolved around these crystals.

15 for me, I still remember the trailer before this one, that had lingering shots of Noctis on the throne and cut out as he drew the Engine Blade while one eye glowed red. E3 2006 was stacked, the XIII trailer with the mock gameplay, the Versus trailer, and the Agito trailer with babyface Ace. I wait patiently day by day for more Kingdom Hearts news, because if it's going to take Verum Rex to experience Versus I'll take it. Maybe one day Nomura will publicly reveal the extent of what was in his head for Versus, I don't think there's a single piece of fiction I'd want knowledge of more than that.
you are not alone my friend, i had been obsessed with this trailer for almost 10yrs already and tbh the trailer of FFXVI is nothing compared to this one, this FFXV is the best of all FF they had made and i think its time square enix hear our voice and make a petition for this game to be alive
Loved this trailer so much back when it was revealed. I don't even know how I was introduced to it, I was a CoD kid and such, but saw it later on at around 2011. Still one of my favorites and this Noctis is the one I wish I got to see more of. Call it nostalgia for being a child but just the whole tone of this to me was literally magical
@@Bionimetic yep very much true, honestly i never been addicted to a trailer ever even the popular ones, after few days i forget it, but this trailer, this once in a lifetime masterpiece, its been almost 10yrs and i still havent forget this trailer, im very much obsessed as you also, this is the game many of us had been dreaming for but square enix pull off this bank out in their page, honestly this could be the game of the century if it only released completely, even me, if only i have the money, ill put it all just to make this game a reality, just like in the trailer " a fantasy based on reality" this is still our fantasy and needed to become reailty one day

I think it'll involve more Final Fantasy, there's a lot of FF references relating to Yozora, Verum Rex, and Quadratum and 3 was lacking in the FF department, not that Disney won't be involved, but might have a higher FF representation (Hopefully Lightning will show up)

I think it'd be cool if they kept the KH concept of multiple worlds and made Verum Rex crossover with Cloud, Squall and the rest of the gang. Hell, Yozora could even meet his counterpart Noctis from XV! Now that'd be an encounter i'd love to see.

It seems like its more likely that the old Kingdom hearts disney time is over and kingdom hearts is now Final fantasy canon. The Master or Masters being in Quadratum means that this world will be more important in KH 3.5 Quadratum Re:mindmix

Yeah, it’s such a shame how it was handled. The crazy thing is even under Nomura it probably wouldn’t have worked out. He seriously considered making it a musical/play instead of a video game a few years into development. Not to mention Square wanting a brand new engine built from the ground up specifically for this game, and all the troubles that caused. Versus XIII and XV went through such a troubled development it’s a miracle that it even released.
@@Berrineso False, Nomura never wanted to make it a Musical. He said to the interviewer that he would want to (and laughed right after he said that meaning he was joking about making it a Musical). It was sarcastic.
The Interviewer didn't get it and thought he (Nomura) was serious about it. He uploaded the Interview and it spread out like wildfire.
It's astonishing to me that people really believe/think, that Nomura really wanted to make it a Musical.

And the game would have worked out well, if Square would not have pulled Team Members of the "Versus XIII Team" to work/help on other projects. Nomura never really had a full Team because his Team members were to help out on the issues Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIV had.
When Final Fantasy 13 and 14 were finished, Nomura finally had his full Team back. The PS4 arrived then and it was decided to switch the development of Versus XIII from PS3 to the PS4, the only problem for Square Enix now, was that Nomura wanted to make Versus XIII a trilogy. Square Enix didn't want that and gave the Project to Tabata to tell a story in just one game.
By that move, the story has been drastically changed and a lot of characters from the Versus XIII Story were cut.
There is so much more I could tell you, but let's just leave it at that.

I just realized something after beating XV.
SPOILERS
1. In the ending of XV, Noctis sits and sleeps on his throne the same way he did in this trailer.
2. Since XV was Versus XIII, and still had some of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos in some degree, XV essentially marks the end of the Fabula Nova Crystallis saga.
They have at least one more coming out in fabula Nova Crystallis saga I'm not sure if you would exactly count it but type-0 online for mobile is coming out so and type-0 is part of the saga so we have at least one more
True, but I'm talking about the main games themselves; Type-0 and XV respectively began as Agito XIII and Versus XIII, and they were meant to be companion games alongside XIII. So regardless of additional titles based on the original release (FF Agito, Type-0 Online, A King's Tale etc.), the main games have been reworked and completed, ultimately bringing closure to this planned saga.

It’s crazy how you can see how different of a concept Noctis was here. I feel like his scope of abilities were more vast than what we got. It’s like they based it all from the part where Noctis threw his sword and teleported to it, even though he didn’t have to use his weapons to warp any other time. This man was protecting a throne, and that throne was the idea of a good game lol
leaks said that the lucis caelum family were worshipers of etro (FNC goddess of death) and that warping was originally noctis traveling back and forth from the realm of the dead - which makes sense since the weapons in XV were the weapons of the dead kings of lucis... also stella was supposed to die and their love story took place with her in the after life... what i would do for that mf game
If you unlock Armiger Unleashed in FFXV this is exactly what you can do and more, you got combos, infinite teleportation, the spinning swords around you and even some of the poses he does in this trailer

@@retr0836 I’m not too sure about that.. he would have to make a very different premise to what versus 13 was because Nomura is working with Disney, and of course modern Disney doesn’t like dark stuff while V13 was written to be incredibly dark. And basing it on the Verum rex trailer, the enemies are giant robot toys..
@Joel Ruiz Yeah. I don't think sadly that he'll be able to make what he really wanted. That boat has sailed, with FFXV already done.
What I do think he is doing is, however, making use of some of the concepts and characters in a way. But I don't think it's gonna be the same exact thing VXIII was gonna be.

FINALY FANTASY versus XIII had such a darker tone than XV. I've been playing XV for a while now and i feel like it's a whole different game. In this scene, you could feel the emotion and the pain that burns within noctis. Maybe if noctis didn't have all of his bros lol idk, i'm gonna stop bitching and go finish XV lmao

I really really wanted to see this Noctis.
And you will, this original noctis was teased in Nomuras upcoming project of Verum Rex. If you played Kingdom Hearts 3, then you’ll know what I’m implying.
Same, this Noctis would have been so much better than what we got. Sadly theyve seemed to make another copy of Noctis named Yozora who also looks like Riku and fight giant robo toys :/ so far its not hitting like this trailer has. Plus verum rex will most likely be turned way down in terms of rating when compared to this rated M feel of this trailer, thus never living up to Versus XIIIs true potential and serving as another reminder of the game we never got :c

I love how many shits Noctis doesn't give. He goes out, kills a few people, and then he doesn't even care to finish them off, he just walks back inside.
Nyxato I think it is actually really telling that he didn’t finish them off. It seems that he was doing it out of hatred for them, and then once he was satisfied with the amount of death he dealt he leaves.
He looks like he's guarding the place. Makes him more of a badass that he can guard it without the help of his soldiers. Maybe he's keeping the throne warm till his fathers return or maybe king regis is already dead and the soldiers planned to assassinate him.
Then the actual game looks censored as you only kill monsters and clones.

More of an Anti-Hero really. But yes Noctis was meant to be a VERY complex character and he was meant to be really evil in a few places in the story.
That original idea would have made a better story. Play as the villain.

Versus was originally a spinoff, Nomura said that like Type 0 which was super violent, it gave him free reign to do what he pleased in terms of things a mainline final fantasy could not do. It probably would have gotten a hard M rating just like Type 0

This was the game I wanted to play, after many years I was right... Stella was and still better than Luna.
Stella was barely a character. People just have this shallow idea of her being well-written because they see a chick with a blade and automatically assume she MUST be better, but the fact is she wasn't a fully completed character yet. Progress on all this stuff was barely pushed forward, and there's no guarantee she would have been less disappointing than Luna is turning out to be. Especially when you take into account the time this project originally began in, where SE just did a consistently terrible job writing characters and emofying everything. XV is less than perfect, but I feel that we probably dodged a huge bullet there.
Doctor Flimflim Luna barely appear in the final game, she just turned out to be a bad writting and weak character.
ironically, stella's concept itself had more personality than luna did in the final game, and that's the bottom line.

We barely have time to like her in the game, in Kingslaive she didn't do anything besides run away and being protected all the time, in the game she only gets a few times in the screen and end up with that weak ending.

it would be awesome if at one point in the story, something very dramatic happens, causing Noctis to change into THIS badass prince! The new style of Noctis in FF15 is handsome, but his Versus-look is what I grew up with and prefer - a cooler personality :)

There's a lot less shenanigans involved in the 16 development I'm pretty sure, and the Interrum will have the next few parts of the 7 Remake, which isn't taking from the 16 team so I think it'll just be a couple years

FF15 (originally FFVs13), was a side game that was set in the FF13 universe. The reason why it took FF15 so long to release was because the original development team of Vs13 had to stop working on their game and assist the FF13 team with the crystal tools engine. Nomura, Vs13's director, was also involved in multiple other projects around that time. Square also prioritized development of the three FF13 games over Vs13, which put Vs13 in limbo until Square told Tabata to finish and release it as FF15.

Back to E3 Tabata reassures fans that this track "Somnus" is still in the game and will be used in a very interesting way. I honestly think they will just remade this scene for ingame instead of CGI. Atleast i hope so, such an iconic scene.

Nomura had so many unfinished projects such as this game, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Kingdom Hearts III. Square Enix laid him out of the Versus XIII project so he could focus on the other two, replacing him with Hajime Tabata.
Tabata then purged Nomura's original idea of Versus XIII and turned it into a completely different game. Tabata and Square Enix decided to make Versus XIII as a mainline FF game as well, which became Final Fantasy XV. As for Nomura, it's possible that he's transferring his Versus XIII ideas into the next Kingdom Hearts series.

i didnt get FF15 yet because i dont have a ps4 yet. ff versus 13 was one of the main reasons for me to even get a ps3 but it took too long. is ff15 really that much of a different game to ff versus? that just makes me sad af because i was so hype when i first saw this trailer. probably my most anticipated game ever.

Theclaw Yaww i spent years hyping up on it reading about and watching it on the internet and wondering how great it will be. i remember nomura saying he is taking a so long because he is trying to do many amazing things with it. it would have transcended ps3 gaming. versus xiii is the best game i never got to play. the director changed and they removed stella but didnt they at least maintain the base story? that's just disrespectful to nomura if they didnt considering how long he spent developing the game. it's about noctis being the last heir to a royal lineage protecting a crystal from other countries.

Kinda like this Noctis over the one we got. I mean I do like the fact they are focusing more on the friendship and brotherhood between the characters and the whole traveling aspect I like but, if they kept this badass Noctis and have him learn along on our travels to be more human while learning about brotherhood and friendship would've been cool. But to each their own I guess.

The fact this and Type 1 hurts me deep being a big FF fan. I do love XV but from day dot I have been very disappointed that we were robbed from this game. I suppose I can only hold hope in what ever the hell Tetsuya is trying to do with Kingdom hearts and Yozora
