@Eli22B Probably to accommodate the acoustics of the room. Looks like there's a wall behind them, which would project better than playing into open space, since the bell faces backward. Just a thought though. Maybe the conductor just didn't like them.
I don't know if this march is played by amateurs. But if so, I've got one thing to say: these amateurs beat many professionals. And please, don't give a damn about mockery you may see in some comments. Some people just can't appreciate music. They mix it up with shallow and common trivia; they can't separate the wheat from the chaff. Bravo to all of you Fernand Le Québécois
The extremely live acoustics worked against you. Still a very fine performance of a favorite "old warhorse." (I'm so old I saw "Bridge on the River Kwai" the first time it went around!)
This song was also played by the US Army's 1st cavalry division (airmobile) during the early part of the major US Troop buildup during the Vietnam War (1965-1966)
@zBloodD3monz I have always fancied phoning up the box office at The Albert Hall and asking if the Hitler Exhibition was currently open for viewing. Lol
Very well said ! Whilst I have to admit I do know all of the verses of this - in two languages, this version is by far the best and the musicians DO deserve praise for a VERY GOOD performance indeed. [THUR09MAY13/0249hrsBST]
this was the first piece i ever saw two lines at once on my paper... it was terrifying, i was in 6th grade... it wouldn't be so bad except we had a nutjob director where everything was taken at the speed of light
My music teacher says he does it just so we look organized. he doesn't like the look of people putting their insruments up all at different times. he likes to look professional. our uniforms look like we're from a prep school.. people have actually thought we were a prep school. so that's all i see the 'instruments up command' as.
Lose the baton? The white baton stems from the days when there were no electric lights and helped the bandsmen see it. It's symbolic now..but I played in high school and college and I definitely prefer the director who uses a baton. I"ve experienced both and there is no comparison. Keep the baton.
Where is this being played? Which band is this? I thought it was a bit slow too, but it sounds pretty good at this speed. Maybe the POWs in Burma were'nt marching very fast either.
You got it, baby. Thanks for noticing. I haven't been musical since junior high, but I can just see this shmuck doing his ubermeister routine all over these poor musicians. If someone could download a clip of the saxophonist throwing his instrument at him, I'd be grateful.
Boris.......look what you've done to me. Boris...... you have to marry me. Boris...... We'll call him Morris Then there'll be Boris, and Morris and me.
I played the tenor saxophone and the part for it was terrible....I swiped the music for the treble clef baritone and had a MUCH better part...the counter melody.
Just tell him to lose the baton, for God's sake. You'll be happier. He'll be happier. He may even find himself having a better time if he (figuratively) takes off his sergeant's chevrons.
But don't you see: professional is exactly how you don't look. You look like automatons. It seems as though there's a discipline problem and your teacher feels the need to overcompensate for it. Check out the shtick of Baremboim or Abbado or Ozawa or any of the other big conductors. It's less neurotic, more natural, more professional-looking.
I find this "instruments up" command irritating, as though the musicians needed a command to put their lips on the mouthpieces. It's reflective of pomposity on the part of the conductor and servile submissiveness on the part of the musicians.
👍
Esta marchinha é fenomenal. Muito bem executada. Da saudade...
Superb!! Quite possibly the best performance of this march that I have ever heard, and I've heard hundreds of them. Keep on playing!!
Love the low brass in the trio!!!!

Execellent playing! It is the first time that I see this music played in Church.
Everlasting March..... I love it...
i used to whistle the melody of this song since i remember, but never knew the actual title. amazing.
We played this in band too! :) It's a fun song to play, you're band did really good

Wonderfully orchestrated and well-played rendition of original march (Kenneth Alford).
Perfecto!

gotta love that countermelody in the trio
I love playin this song on clarinet! Too easy though. All my friends agree.
The extremely live acoustics worked against you. Still a very fine performance of a favorite "old warhorse." (I'm so old I saw "Bridge on the River Kwai" the first time it went around!)
That movie was and is one of my favorites. When they blew the bridge up I had tears n my eyes
This song was also played by the US Army's 1st cavalry division (airmobile) during the early part of the major US Troop buildup during the Vietnam War (1965-1966)
Wunderbar!!
Excellent!
Bellísimo
@Eli22B they have a lesser yet strong part and can push more air.
I try too finding any mistakes but, none I heard. Not even a professional military band can do any better. Well done, I loved
I love this. It reminded me of the nut job deputy headmaster who played it every Monday after morning assembly.
i love thisss song. (:
I love the G-flat major trio of this mаrch.
our school is trying to perform that....on the sports day.....
outstanding!
I was glad to find that record in "Nintendogs," and I like to put it on in the game. The dogs start marching in a line and circle. It's cute.

I'm in 7th grade and me and my band are playing this it's SOO easy we just learned cut time too¢
Holy Fuck!
the sound is way to much compressed: some of the voices have disappered e.g. the piatti (cymbals)
Why the heck are the french horns in the very back, like behind procession? WTF!?!
Where is this being played? Which band is this?
I thought it was a bit slow too, but it sounds pretty good at this speed. Maybe the POWs in Burma were'nt marching very fast either.
i play oboe too and we played the same song. does any one no the lyrics to this song? cause i do and they are not the best.

She threw it over Germany,
It fell into the deep blue sea!
The fishes got out their dishes,
And they had scallops and bollocks for tea!

@luckyshortie9 I once knew a guy who played bass clarinet and OWNED his own instrument. What a NERD!
I am in 8th grade band too. What your band rank?
Just tell him to lose the baton, for God's sake. You'll be happier. He'll be happier. He may even find himself having a better time if he (figuratively) takes off his sergeant's chevrons.
good band, the Euph jipped out on the A to D, but I suppose it can be forgiven.
Two fingers from the USA!
@TheRegulated Stiff upper lip!
colonel Bogey? Это не тот ли, который обосрался под Балаклавой?
It's slow but accurate.
Regarding the words of the song, it was all the fault of his mother. Enjoy ! [SUN20JAN13/0004hrsGMT]
I dont here the tubas
Hitler has only got one ball
Goring's were way to small
Himmler's were some what similar
And Goebbels had no balls at all
Is that cymbal guy on drugs?

NINTENDOGS
우리 관악 OB 보다
굉장히 잘 한다!~
not really...think of it as a march, would you be wanting to march on parade faster? military marches arent at the double quick
But don't you see: professional is exactly how you don't look. You look like automatons. It seems as though there's a discipline problem and your teacher feels the need to overcompensate for it. Well, it certainly HAD an effect: one of amateurishness.
they are playing it too slowly.our seventh grade band plays this and it is faster. great playing though
I find this "instruments up" command irritating, as though the musicians needed a command to put their lips on the mouthpieces. It's reflective of pomposity on the part of the conductor and servile submissiveness on the part of the musicians.
i hate this song on bass clarinet
meh, i don't think it's looks that bad, sorry.
wow wtf is wrong with this group.... they r playing like fortisimo... almost the entire song is piano.. wtf is wrong with them?
My MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND balanced out the parts better than you guys :(
