Iron Harvest has a brand new world map mode, and best of all it's free! Many of you felt like Iron Harvest came up short when it released, so does it warrant a second look? Let's get stuck into the new mode and see!
the coolest thing about the game is that you can zoom in on the soldiers, and the camera follows them, thru the landscape . And you can also rotate the camera as the soldiers run, or the mechs walk thru unidentified landscape . Advancing troops in the "first person view , Its like a movie ! And its more about finding cover for the soldiers . Unlike the Red Alert ive seen, where its just blocks on a diagrammatical screen . I love it !
I love the style theme story and most of all the mechs. The gameplay is alright, close but lacks something. If they expanded the lore and the factions alittle more maybe a customizable hero and a few more building structures the game would be bad ASS and the next best rts
It could have been boats there . Trading and alliances with other nations . But thats one of the things I like, its a ground based strategy . You have to follow up every squad, position them carefully, or else they die . Two step forward and one step back is working for me !
As far as your guys attacking and running off you need to not click the enemy instead put them in a spot and have them auto fire unless there is a specific unit you wish to attack if you do then be careful and micro and unit grouping will normally leave you open to splash damage which can cripple a whole wall of units
Seeing youre active in answering questions, do you know other RTS or even FPS games with a similar mode like World Map? I know COH2, TW series, and even an fps like Ravenfield has something similar. Or Call to Arms' too. But do you know other games with such modes aside from what Ive mentioned? i always loved these kinds of modes and cant find other games or others asking such Maybe it can be a youtube video by itself Something like the old Starwars rts galactic conquest mode
What a great question! The first game that comes to mind is the upcoming Company of Heroes 3. I believe they are putting a lot of effort into their world map mode. If you want an older game then The Battle for Middle Earth had a very nice world map mode. As you have said, Total War games are probably the best examples of world map games. Have you ever thought of Hearts of Iron 4? It's mostly a 4X strategy game but the world map it has is very impressive, you can play as literally any country in the second world war. Similarly there is Crusader Kings 3, the same really but in medieval times!
Yes of course! It's always been somewhere on the "to do" list but I was never sure how interested players would be. It's good to know you'd find that useful :)
For me World Map appears on the front menu, if you can't see that then I can only think you would need to update the game as this was part of a free update a few months ago. I hope that helps!
@CM-iz5ny Bear in mind this world map is a small part of the game. It has several campaigns with surprisingly impressive cut scenes and a variety of multiplayer options. I'm not saying the game is amazing or right for everyone, but definitely don't judge it purely on this video, it was just exploring a new free game mode which was a nice addition!
@@twiglets2 Yeah, it just seems like wasted potential idk. Like this is an alternative history game so why not make the map of Europe. Makes me question the devs reasoning.
It looks dull for sure, and needs to be fleshed out, but I think it shows promise. I might be biased as it reminds me of similar game modes in older games I played in my teens and nostalgia is so influential. Each to their own of course. I also can't help but think it's a bit like Total War, but not as good. Which seems to be what Iron Harvest does, imitate similar games but just not as good.
@@twiglets2 True, I was thinking Dark Crusade when I first seen it, but turned out to be very basic. I can see how this can work but it's needs more depth.

Did you play Axis and Allies? In particular the Atari RTS back in the 2000s

Glad you're enjoying it! Have you tried any of the DLC? I found Operation Eagle gave the game a new lease of life
i never heard of this game till now, got it cause of you. I'm a big fan of coh and gigantic mechs so love it. thanks
No worries I hope you enjoy it! I'm interested to know how you think it compares to CoH (obvious differences aside!)

I like the way you put it. I find it difficult to criticize what the game has, so as you say, it LACKS something. Difficult to say what!

Thank you for that tip, it's been so frustrating but I've been too lazy to look into how to prevent it, I'll give that a try!
@@twiglets2 np it’s kinda a weird game as far as controls go and attack move orders are also a good idea
CoH2 has 10 times the player base of Iron Harvest, and Its more than a decade old. That speaks very badly of Iron Harvest
30 times*
I love the gameboard Scythe and i love alt world and game
I keep meaning to try Scythe but it's quite expensive so it would be a shame if I end up not enjoying it...!

Could you make review about StarCraft 2? If it's worth downloading in 2022 for example

@ModdogMaddu A bargain!
Definitely worth reinSTALIN lol
How did you get the game mode to pop up?I don't have the world map on my main menu.

@@twiglets2 thanks I will try to see if I can update.
this game is still awesome....
Glad to hear it
Funny, that's exactly what I was thinking.
I hope the video was useful in that case.
This games on sale rn and wanted to see what it was all about. Gotta say this looks terrible.

What a dull mode and like everything in this game it doesn't hit the mark.
