Minnie (Margot Bryant) disrupts Charlie's (Gordon Rollings) sleep by deflating his airbed at Tickler's (Patrick McAlinney) behest. Elsie (Pat Phoenix) requests Len's (Peter Adamson) help with home repairs explaining her financial constraint due to Dennis's (Philip Lowrie) hairdressing course. Minnie surprisingly has come into a stash of cash raising suspicions amid other thefts including Albert's (Jack Howarth) missing gold sovereign. The residents speculate about the identity of the thief and Len and Albert are determined to catch the culprit. Elsewhere Tickler suggests Florrie (Betty Alberge) modernise her shop with an American-style soda bar.
