If you like a balanced sound that tweeter definitely changes the game.. Yea that 310’s bass is stupid good but it drowns out the highs and mids. If you actually like listening to all parts of a song and not just be a bass junkie then Sony’s overall sound quality is better balanced.
I believe the back firing tweeter is designed to use reflected sound to create a better soundstage (like on some vintage pioneer speakers and some Revel speakers) and due to that (and the port on the JBL), I think they’re designed to be placed against a wall and not listened to 360 degrees, even the SONY (not much mids). I also think the port cover is to try and make sure nothing gets into the speaker. Edit: I think the bass boost modes are mixed up- I believe the SONY has “MEGA BASS” and the PARTYBOX simply has “BASS BOOST” in level 1 or level 2
No one beats JBL in deep bass, also not Teufel & Soundbox. But the Sony sounds really good and this tweeter at the back is a great Idea, especially for outdoor partys.
