Sure looked like you gave the ol' "pleasure van" (haha) a thorough cleaning there brother. Now on to the fun stuff, eh. Looking forward to more of this build series 👍 Cheers....
Help, all those screws and parts! I would never be able to put it together again. But, Allan can do it! Thanks for showing and looking forward to the next episode! Greetings from Germany Viola
Great job. There is something about bringing you van or car back to life. It serves you well so it needs a good scrub every now and then to keep going. Like us all. Very satisfying seeing it come back from being very tired looking to brand new again. Good job. Looking forward to the next one. 🚙 😃😃
I fully expect a subscriber increase during this. A man that camps in awesome locales, has one awesome dog and is doing a van conversion. This is RUclips algorithm gold!
This one gave me flashbacks to when I was a kid cleaning cars for the family and neighbours to earn a bit of pocket money *shudder*. Always found Back to Black was good for plastic trim. I bet that van will smell lovely with all that cleaning done!
This is going to be an amazing new chapter to your adventures.👍 Next time Blue gets covered in sopping mud and needs to sleep undercover, we will remember all this cleaning you did 😂
As tedious as it is doing all the hard work it's definitely rewarding seeing the end results. Missed not seeing precious pup Blue but enjoyed watching your progress on the van.
Now then. Nowt more satisfying than a bit of de-grubbing. But confused to see a box of PG tips hiding in this Yorkshireman’s kitchen 🧐 Will be great to see you travelling in your new van and seeing new places, would be great to see you and Blue explore what Snowdonia has to offer. Was good to meet and talk with you at the expo Saturday as it was totally unexpected. All the best. Rob.
Transmission fluid and then use the old fluid with a mix of oil to give the engine a good flush. Only use the best oils. Pays dividends in the long term. Why i say this is because i do the same has you. Buy a old vehicle and bring it back to life. Its better for for the environment, the big cost on this issue is building new. So good on you and keep up the good work.
You can use a heat gun to bring the oils back in the plastic but it takes a while. I used teak oil and it brought it back to black bumpers trims and skirts from a light grey. Only issue is needs to dry or stuff will stick to it but it's great stuff! I know it's too late now, but if you draw a rough picture of the van on cardboard then just push the screws and bolts in the area it's from it's a lifesaver
The bad thing about doing a deep clean is that that's when you discover how dirty everything really is! The good thing about this project is that it looks like you already have just about every tool you might need to complete the whole thing. Having been on the purchasing end of a number of projects, it's surprising how the tool cost can add up. All of this work you are doing would be a real ordeal for anyone else to do, but it really makes a difference when it's your own van, doesn't it? It's still so much work, but every bit of it gets you one step closer to hitting the road to wherever you want to go.
Hi Al. It was a real pleasure to bump in to you at the NEC today and to be able to shake your hand. I never managed to bump into Paul Messner though 😢. Your videos have meant so much to me since my accident. I miss the mountains so much. Once I’ve fully recovered from my recent surgery I will get back out there and hope to bump into you again, but with Blue this time. Take care Al. Keep up the good work. You bring joy to a lot of people and there is something quite special about that. Thank you. Dave
Good evening Al……looking forward to following this journey 👍💪🇮🇲. Ps don’t remove those plastic A-Pillar covers….they are an absolute pain to reinstate 👍
hi allen yup the gel work also armor all car wax also after few use you see it restored to like new I think your real enjoying it by making it your way to comfort hope blue approves he wants drive it Allen compound the white then place good wax after coat of water repellant cuts drive drag and noise yes air and friction cause noise you hear in car less drag less fuel uses you doing great parts cleaned its going to be bad ass van
Al, use forever black on your trim, it will look like new and not fade like silicone based products and no slip lol Looking forward to the build stage.
Loved this vid👍 my two RUclips interests are walking/wild camping but also restoring old computers,it’s always strangely therapeutic watching restoration😀, also what’s not to like about creating a camper van, there was another RUclipsr I watched in lockdown who did similar, great channel - vandemonium I think it was called
Really looking forward to this as I will hopefully convert a van to tour the UK and maybe Europe in the next few years. Please could we see a bit more of Blue even if he is sat on the front seat watching you 😀
Try a heat gun on faded plastics, it brings the oils in the plastic back to the surface and gets them looking new permanently rather than greasy and will wear off like tyre shine 😉
I love watching car valeting videos, it's very satisfying. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger Al, it will all be worth it in the end. I noticed a pound coin behind the drivers seat, did you pick it up? 🤣
Great video, for things like plastic load bed / door trim after washing I’d have used plastic primer and satin black, would leave a nice finish that’s not slippy like tyre gel, which once dried up will go grey again.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE you might try just a heat gun. The light discolouration on the plastic trim is from scuffs and waving a heat gun over the scuffs can make the surface smooth again and actually can restore the colour.
You missed a bit on one of the window panels, Al(!) 😜 Loved your experiment with the 3 cleaning values although you should have included a water control, just to be fair 🤣 Great vids to observe the progress on the Bushmobile! 👌
Cleaning & scrubbing; surface preparation; really difficult to do RIGHT. Looking forward to the next installment of your van re-build. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
Ok, still luv ya, u doing a good job on the van, need bluey tho xxxxtry the pink stuff as a cleaner, cheap as chips and excellent results with none of the scrubbing!!!
At 26:00 I would add that soap to my powered pressure rig like you have and be done with it. Me too lazy for the scrubba-dub-dub method. They do have chemical tank attachments for those pressure washers.
Not sure if this is helpful for any of the trim, but when redecorating I bought a plastic spray paint (called Plasti-Kote) to re-spray a white plastic loft-hatch door that had yellowed over the years (because I couldn't find one exactly the same sized door to replace it with). I was a bit concerned that the spray paint might chip/ flake etc., but it actually adhered/ bonded to the surface amazingly (& the result pretty much as though it was original plastic, not painted). Looks like there are probably other similar brands available & other colours, so hopefully you might be able to get one that suits any trim pieces that need a bit more TLC...& maybe you could even go for a colour that enables you to 'personalise' your interior to suit the other ideas you have, & to create something even more unique too! 😉 Best of luck with the build...looking forward to watching it coming along & seeing how everything turns out too.
As always another great video as i have just been made redundant your film has pushed me further into getting a van.A keen fell runner and landscape artist a small van converted would be right up my street.Cheers👍
That has come up superb Al. Does Nicola know you can clean like this. Can't wait to see the full finished product matey. You have some speed whilst cleaning . 😂
Thank you very much for sharing your series of videos, showing how you're converting your van for use in your adventures in the countryside. They are very informative and enjoyavble to watch. I wish I could do like wise. Keep up the good work. Stephen Roberts. By the way how is Blue/Blu, your lovely dog? Many thanks, awaiting the next episode.
were doing a lwb citreon relay at the mo, hope you've got loads of spare cash alan, its an expensive game doing van conversions, shame we missed you at the outdoor expo saturday
Absolutely fantastic thorough cleaning there!! 👌🏻👌🏻 I would suggest that on the plastic trim to use a dedicated trim product, made for plastic. Tyre dressing is made for rubber so leaves it slippy but trim dressing doesn't do that but comes up lovely and usually has some UV protection too (for dash mainly). :) Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build and then your adventures on tour! :)
Good start to things Al, I admire the attention to detail with the cleaning, I'm the same myself! I've got a 5 seater Vauxhall Combo van that I've had for over 3 years which I've slept in quite a few times when travelling for mtb adventures and I'm planning a light camper conversion to it this year so I'm definitely following this with interest. #no1youtuber
Did you pick up my "Karcher Jet wash" idea for a shower/wash facilities from your last video? (Sorry I watch that many I don't always follow up threads). In essence, It's a very small, portable 5 Litre water jet wash, powered by a rechargeable Lithium battery. Great for washing self, van, dogs, bikes on trips !

None really
Great work and results…. I can’t wait to see the van finished Al, it’s gonna be fantastic.
hi allen watching yr video doing yr camper yr doing a great job we have decided 2 get one going 2 look tomorrow can’t wait 2 see yrs all finished 👍

Cool I might look it to it👌
Well done looks much better id forget what goes where and id lose the screws
Good preparation Al, looking forward to the more exciting bits of your van build.
Yes it gradually Will get more interesting. Worth taking everything out and starting fresh though😬
cheery blossom is great for faded plastics, they all use it on factory VW T4 T5 bumpers
You have some patience, that clean up would have broken me haha can’t wait to see your finished product
Patience is one of my best qualities but it’s definitely a tough long process 😂
I see you and Andy wardell have had the same idea. All the best with the project.
Yes he text me after my first vid and said what a coincidence he was buying one too. I said we’ll have to meet for a van camp😬
Looking good Al. I would've used a leaf blower to get that dirt out the back lol time saver. Be well my friend ✌️ pet Blue for me

Brilliant series 👍... That's going to be a superb machine, look forward to the next installment... Cheers🍻🍻
A serious amount of cleaning there! Looking forward to seeing the build progress, it's going to look really great when it's finished.

Yes I’ll have a look at it. There are a few good battery powered pumps. I might need a good bucket too for it
Somewhat random question: have you seen the movie, The Banshees of Inisherin? Just saw. Great film. And the dog in the film looked a bit like Blue 🐶👍😀
😂 no I haven’t
Come on Al, get on with the electrics...want to see how it all pans out if you are using jackary as power source...before I get my van🙂
Yes I’m hoping to use an Ecoflow power station to do it all. It should be good👍
I know you have yer own plans/ideas, but maybe some cheapo black spray-on bedliner for that piece right at the back you used the tire stuff on?
The tyre gel will just wear off mate, and too slippy as you say. Try gyeon q2 trim 👍
👌👍👍👍
a long way to go but a good start

Soda Chrystals … best all round cleaner and cheap
Once you have finalised the wood panels and all the sizes etc, you might be able to sell the designs, if you know how to use CAD all the better, or sell a paneling kit, you could find a workshop with a laser cutter to prepare the panels for resale?
You can buy a panel kit but I think this is it and it’s not accurate enough for me. I know what you’re saying though as making templates like that are tough to get right.
