Hey Big Man - Superquilt is the way. That’s the exact same product I used throughout my van. It’s toasty in winter and cooler in summer plus in conjunction with sound insulation it’s really quiet, inside out and outside in! Good luck!
Cool. I’ve never seen it used so I’m glad I’m bringing it to light as it seems way cheaper better and easier than the van related products. It already seems excellent when the sun has been out. 👍👍👍
@@BUSHMANandBLUE Totally, I agree i think it’s the perfect product for the van be because of shapable versatility. I first came across when I was insulating my house. I had some left over, just the right amount to do the van. Plus the benefit of the vapour barrier and no condensing.

I'm enjoying watching these. gonna make myself a little camper van later this year. I'm thinking probably a fiat doblo. so thanks for showing me how it's done.
good job Al I work on boats a lot I would have a power box on its own to protect it and for safety, I would also have cut the slots out above the sun visors for ventilation if storing stuff OMO of course great project though 👍
I’m using full panels that I can take off in the future if to get to the electrics etc if needed. It’s amazing how much thought has to go in to a job like this. Thanks John 👍
Great set of vids showing the Caddy conversion, so thanks for taking the time to share. I had a couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind helping to answer 1)what thickness sound deadening did you use and has it performed as well as you thought it would and 2)did the insulation you selected perform as well as you expected? Would you now do anything different after having lived with it for a few months, as I’m just about to start converting a Caddy myself. Thanks again - great videos!
Yes I think the insulation has worked really well. The sound deadening was from dodo mat. One full box for this build but I did more than necessary 👍👍👍. I really thought about my design and meticulously made it so thus far I’m completely happy with it.
I wonder if you could put your socket(s) on the rear doors, with cables fed through where others route into the rear doors? That way your sockets would be as far back as possible when the doors are closed (& in fact, outside when the rear doors are open!). Guess you might have to consider what to do to avoid them getting wet when the doors are open in rain (if if you're using a shower outside!), although I guess it might be possible to consider outdoor/ weather-proof socket options instead if necessary. Not sure whether it'd work or not, but thought I'd mention my thought just in case it's of any use at all.
I guess it’s possibly but I already ran a cable for the reversing camera to the door and it was a tough one and as you said potential to get wet. I’ve come up with a plan😬. Thanks mate.
Fantastic attention to detail Al. Envious already. Just wish I had the kind of patience required to do a project like this. Next time we stay in that cottage we'll bring a Caddy up and leave it with you if thats ok 😂

I don’t think it would be that good for soundproofing but I have a large piece that is wrapped around my tank and pipes at home to help maintain temperature (my boiler is sort of outside). The sticky back stuff I used would be better for that or some fire rated carpet underlay stuck to the cupboard walls.
