I have female friends I had a sibling dynamic with. Once they got married our contact declined but I can still talk to them about how their life is going and so on. The conversation is shorter than it would be before they were married but we still just treat each other as people. I know and respect their husbands. When you get married it is common that you loose touch with your friends. It's not necessarily because the relationship was fake. And especially for a male female friendship it sometimes stops because the husband or the wife doesn't tolerate his/her partner's opposite gender friend. There are many factors. Genuine friendship between men and women is not common but very possible. Just for some people.

It's a bit trickier than that. For example, the singer in my band is an attractive woman, everyone else is male. And I have a GF, who is not her. Am I her friend? Yes, you can't be in a band otherwise. No I don't want to make moves at her, because 1) I have a girl I love already 2) it would destroy the band. 1 is the primary reason.
But even if I was single, I wouldn't want to ruin everything by making the atmosphere at band rehearsal etc. cringe. We are like 3 brothers and 1 sister, that's it. The band is more important to me than most things. We wouldn't be able to find a similar singer, anywhere. So nobody wants to ruin it. And yes of course she's attractive, female singers in bands usually are. We aren't co-workers either (while in a way we are, but it's different because my band is my closest friends also)
