The Galtee Crossing which covers the whole range and runs from Anglesborough to Cahir only takes 10 hours.A very good horseshoe of Galtymore starts on the North side and takes 4 hours.
Yes there is. Take the road from Skeheenarinky, near Mitchelstown. At a half decent pace,it takes about one hour and fifteen minutes to reach the top of Galtymore. Young, superbly fit and experienced hill runners will easily beat beat this.
Your suggestion is the same route I took in 1991. I was in my forties at the time and it took me a bit longer than 85 minutes at a fairly steady pace. The advantage coming up via the Skeheenarinky Rd. is being able to drive up from the highway to a dead end, cutting in half the hiking distance required on the featured route of this video. Galtymore summit provides spectacular views north and south. A quiet place to sit and meditate.

Many dead sheep decaying all around Lake Muskry. Drinking that might give you serious issues.

where did you park starting this?
You took a long route..easier way up.
What’s the easier way up?
