Martin, pre wetting is a good idea😊 A lovely looking morning before the wet and windy weather arrived and it looked like you had a good run with visibility up to Galtymore. The sheep had it right sheltering behind the wall🐑😊 That climb up Temple Hill is a tight one as is the descent. Well done on completing the Galtee Challenge in such challenging weather👍 Get in that tent!
Well done Martin, Pat and Fiona and anyone else who finished the challenge! That was some crazy conditions to be out, I hope everyone got down safely. Great footage Martin to give a sense of what the overall event must have been like and what you all contended with that day. Two fingers to Temple Hill seemed apt! Not necessarily how I choose to enjoy the hills but I can appreciate the adrenaline from completing the event too 👍 A great video to capture your incredible crossing 😊
Thanks Miriam. Big change for the weather we experienced on the Tom Crean. It was an incredible experience thou. I will 100% go back and do the full challenge over 2 days and camp along the way. So many great spots and big rock structures to camp by.
Fair play to you and everyone else for getting through that. It looked brutal but also pretty class to be fair 😄 Very hard to film in bad weather, you showed the hike very well. I'll have to plan a few longer hikes around the Galtees. Looking forward to seeing the new vango tent in action, have a good one 👍
It was brutal Jason but its one I'll remember. So tough. You gotta sign up to one of those. They are hikes where you can hike with people or do it fully solo. Thats what I love about them. Cheers man. Yeah the Vango tent will be the one I bring to Iceland in a few weeks. Im a bit undecided between bringing the Vango or the Lanshan.. Any thoughts?
@@soletrail this one is definitely on my to do list now and I want to do a few more way marked trails at some point but probably not all of them. I'd lean toward bringing the Vango. The lanshan will hold up in high wind but as you know the ground has to be pretty flat to get a nice pitch and I would imagine that the vango would be more comfortable to be in if you have to hunker down for a long time plus it looks like a sturdy tent.
You to Ger. Thank you for the Pint as well. Can't beat a pint of the black stuff after a big hike. Well done again on the Tome Cream. Ye smashed it. The Galtee Challenge was very hard... Harder with the weather. You would have enjoyed it. Know one can see tears in that much rain 😂
Well done indeed, love the galtys but the weather can be extreme from time to time. Temple Hill from Lyracappul is a sting in the tail after that trek, but what a place and the way you caught the conditions was so good I could feel the wind... well done to all
Thank Niall. The filming kept my mind off the pain 😂 plus I really wanted people to see how bad conditions can get. Temple hill is my nemesis and added salt to the wounds. Loved it though. Just before Temple I emptied a full bag of Jelly Tots into my mouth for the sugar rush 😅
Hi Martin. A lot Rain covers in the trees after that gale. One of the worst conditions that Iv experienced. Very good footage considering the day that was in it. Keep the videos coming.Take care.
Unreal Andrew wasn't it. It was tricky filming but honestly I had everyone on mind and wanted to show the brilliance and dangers of the mountains. Well done on the challenge. One to remember.
Martin, fantastic video as always. You might put some people off hiking in the mountains in Ireland though LOL! Seriously though, you showed what weather can do in an instant. Battling those winds looked really tough. I would say it was difficult to see where you were going at times. 31 km is a long distance in anyone's book, but to do it under those conditions deserves a tip of the hat (or beanie). Well done Martin and Co on that challenge. Looking forward to your next adventure and possibly meeting up for a chat over a frying steak and a can of the black stuff. Out to you !
Hey Alan Sir. Cheers man. Yeah it was very tough to be fair. Glad I recorded it. It kept my mind active anyways. That wind made every step that bit harder. Really enjoyed it thou which is weird to say. Kind of feels exciting being in those conditions and braving them. Adds to the accomplishment. 100% We'll meet for a steak and a brew on the hills. Been crazy busy the past few months so looking forward to chilling on the tent.
Well Done Martin and the gang, tough conditions which makes it more challenging, but by god he powered through as a group fair play. Will you upload the route for that challenge by any chance would love to do that but by the time ill come to temple hill the 2 fingers will seem appropriate. Well done 👍👍👍
Did you have to rely on navigational skills for this or did you have a guide? Any idea how many completed it? I had to laugh how you experienced such a challenge and straight away planning your next trip. Amazing stuff 👏
Hello.... Its a healthy addiction 😀Great event thou. Yes this is self navigating so with the changing weather on the Galtees you really gotta know your stuff. The Tom Crean challenge had flags along the route. This had nothing and a got deal of it was in fog so yep... Its a tricky one. Thanks for the comment
Man two fingers to temple hill? You’re a lot braver than i am. No way i would have done that Not to that mountain anyway given its past. You’ll have ghosts after you
We had fairly similar weather up there few months back packed a little to heavy could barely stand at the the top lol one to remember that’s for sure least you got it done fair play to you all ⛰

Great video dude 👊 I'd say you were wrecked after that 🥾🥾🥾🥾
Crazy Mark.. never hiked in that kind of wind before. Stuck in the hood for the day. Brilliant event thou. Really is. Love the Galtees. 😁
Fair play everybody, often had to turn around in weather up there . Savage
Crazy weather.. what a day thou. Why is it the worst weather days are the ones we remember must 🙂
I am doing this on Saturday so it was great to get an idea of what's ahead. More rain and wind forcast! Great video, thankyou.
Doing it again myself. Yes I saw the forecast. Eekkkk come and say hello if you see me. 🙂
Some conditions, survival ❤

You too sir. Great event and well organised.
another great video and well done on the crossing!
Cheers Ross. Crazy but brilliant experience.
Bloody hell, that looked rough! Type II fun at its best 😆
🤣 Type ll fun.. love it. It was brilliant thou. It's so weird in those conditions and your smiling from ear to ear. Love it.
Great footage, from Galtymore in particular, never experienced wind as strong up there, a tough hike but very rewarding.
I hear you Stephen. It was crazy but added to the event. Toughest hike I've ever done to be honest.

He Eddie. Cheers man. Will have the fully challenge route and Info saved to Website this week. Will post it up when done.
I thought the Galtee challenge was something about eating loads of sausages, rashers and puddings.
😂😂Could you picture it. Sitting on the hills stiffing your face

😂 I know I know... I felt guilty after it... I need to go back and makeup to Temple.. Won't video that.. It would be X rated 😂
