I have sliced and diced sketch books to get them just the right size for a trip. I never realized what I was actually accomplishing until I saw this. I’m not an architect but this subject resonates far beyond one discipline. Thank you for sharing.
I know this is an old video but I just wanted to say that your contents make me excited about architecture once again. I am 26 and working at a firm in Tokyo at minimum wage, for extreme hours everyday. In this productivity-oriented world, I sometimes just can't help thinking about an alternative career. I've been following this channel for a really long time now and I definitely believe you are one of the most professional and hard working architects I've seen... Unfortunately, we see a lot of bad professionals nowadays, only worried about getting money other than addressing society's needs and it is great to see how there still are people like you left, that actually have a big passion for what they are doing. I hope I ever become such a good architect as you are, helpful and hardworking, striving for my passion every day. Thank you so much for all of the help and lessons this channel gave me, I just finished my first year in Uni so I'm a bit emotional ahah
I'm a civil engineer with 10 years of experience working always inside a company. I am just starting to develop an idea to start working on my own and from time to time I get frustrated because I don't know what to do. Your videos are EXTREMELY helpful to me. Please keep up the amazing work.

The approach to this design is magnificent. It reminds me of a project I participated in while I was in grad school. I wrote the front end of a Home Environmental Control System (HECS) and it incorporated GPS position, daily solar position, historical weather conditions, forecast weather to control, HVAC, window treatments, and more.
Eric Inspiring as always. For the past several years as I've followed you, I encouraged my architecture students (and other fellow architects) to watch and listen. A truly unique resource. I am now retiring, but still love design and sketching. If pre-orders are permitted, please put me down for 4 of your new sketchbooks. I have several of your previous favorite, but really enjoy the explanation behind your approach. Please email me when available. Outpost looks intriguing! What a site! We don't all get the opportunity to develop such an outstanding place. Looking forward to the sketchbooks and the next installment. Thanks
Hello thanks for the video, as a person doing a self design and build myself I find one of the biggest tasks is finding a good contractor and making everything clear from the start. I would love to see more of the project in this video documented along the way, Good and bad situations. After all we learn more from the mistakes that problems we encounter than we do from when everything runs smoothly! thanks
Whatever you presented obviously it's for us ,for the practicing architectural planners and designers . specially usefull for me .Vidio after vidio this information fulfill my love of Knowledge. Thanks
Another amazing video Eric! I hope you could make a video about how to go about your final project of architecture school. That would really help some students out there. Cheers from India!
Great video again, huge big thank you! Keynote idea is surprising, for me a great example that we don’t need to be glued to our traditional software we always use. I personally would use SketchUp Layout for this, but that would probably be also a overkill for this early phase... Thanks again, you’re inspiring me a lot!!! Take care! Tomas
I think you should just make a full documentary movie about one of your projects (from the earliest stages to the finished and decorated house). Something like "Rams" comes to my mind. I truly believe it would be extraordinary, just like all of your videos. And I would buy it on iTunes for sure ;)
Hey Eric, I love the feed and the inside look into architecture. You do a great job of inspiring designers and educating the general public. I enjoy the longer, more in depth videos you’ve been putting out but miss the parti esque videos that were 4-8 mins long. One fans critique. Keep up the great work.
Eric, I know that you have been super busy with this outpost project. I know that you will knock it out of the park. On the sketch pads, you can put me down for 4. Just let me know when available. Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Will you develop a sketchbook with paper thick enough for watercolor and for alcohol based markers? They bleed through. If not, what brands do you like for colored sketches? Your insights and tips are very helpful.
That was a struggle for me because sourcing thicker paper made the sketchbooks quite costly and I wanted to keep it within a reasonable price range for students. It's all a balancing act, so I went to a heavier weight paper that was still cost effective but there's still bleed-through with alcohol based markers (unfortunately)!
