Pros of the screen room: compact, lightweight, and keeps bugs out (kinda sorta); Cons of the screen room: slower to set up/take down. Pros of the straight leg canopy: faster set up/take down; Cons of the canopy: bulky, heavier, and no protection from bugs
Loving all the videos. My wife kids and I have tent camped for years. Now we are upgrading to a Coleman sun ridge for our first pop up. He have been looking for quite some time for a good pop up. And this one came along. Super excited to take it out!!!
We popup camp too! Our Blackstone is life! Prior to popup camping we tent camped and also used the Blackstone all the time. If you’re reading this, here’s your sign to get the Blackstone! It’s just my husband and I, so we use the 17” Blackstone camping and have a larger 2 burner at home for friends and family. If we camp with a larger crowd, we take the larger one with us. I just love it cause I can cook every single meal on it! Great video guys!
We just picked up a 17 so we don't have to bring the heavier 22 along. Also we are going to pick up one of the blackstone prep tables and see how we like it.
My husband and I just got our fist PUP and have been re-watching your videos for ideas, tips and tricks. Love what you guys do and can't wait to start our own adventures! Currently painting the inside and the slide out dinette (the space behind it that pushes into the camper when put away) is our biggest challenge so far.
Congrats! And yes, the slideout is always a challenge. You can paint the actual slide out a little easier if you slide it in and stand in the void. However the other side, the non-moving wall, is always difficult!
We use a Mr. Bar-B-Q Serving Caddy from academy as our paper towel holder It extends to be tall enough to hang long tongs or a long spatula for the Blackstone from. We keep some basic cooking spices in the bottom.
Thanks much! Bought a 96 Jayco popup this Spring and going on our maiden voyage/shake down cruise this week. Appreciate all your knowledge and experience! Learning a lot from you.
Everything is perfect on your setup. Enjoy your trips. If you want add 12 v to the cooler slide out area and have a Dometic fridge in there. That is just an option of course if you looking to upgrade something. I am working on solar and a battery to power my 12v trucker bunk heating pads one for each bed. These make the pop up more comfortable to sleep then running the heater system all night and they draw low watts. Just ideas. You might have already got it but putting it out there. Keep camping your doing great with the videos love to watch them.
I’m almost ready to go buy a used jacto select and I like the ideas your giving. Like you everything is subject to change from an individual’s perspective. Can’t wait to start taking the family out on the camper
Perfect timing for this episode! My wife, two daughters and I are headed out on our close to home trip this weekend to hopefully figure out our setup. Love your content! It’s always so well put together and the information is always clear and concise. Thank You!!
Do you have a video showing your take down process? Do you fold and put all the bedding away? While you are cranking it down, how do you fold the canvas? More of a “just stuff it all in” kinda deal?
I know things have changed since you uploaded this video but this was a great set up. I have been camping in a 10 person tent. I would like to get me a pop-up trailer one of these days just as my first RV.
That ice chest was a great idea. I hate rachet strapping mine closed every night for racoons. And the clothes idea was pretty good also. Better than my trash bag system. I like idea of the table you said packs up small. We have been carrying a white one that folds in half. It's pretty bulky. Great video.
Love your channel it is so helpful! We're looking to purchase a popup camper and I'm trying to do as much research as possible beforehand. I have so many good memories growing up camping with my family!
Thanks for your update! I really like how your changed your side panel door/slide...I think I'm going to borrow that idea for our '06 HW Starcraft. AWESOME update! We appreciate all the info and ideas your put out here...keep up the good work! Happy adventures!
Love your videos. Anyone looking to get into popups or camping in general you are a MUST watch. I'm gonna have to do a quick video when we go to IB for Memorial Day. Take Care.
I saw in another video, a cabinet you built over your sink area. Looked like 1/2” plywood. I would love to see what you built and where you store it when traveling. Thanks
Hi! Thank you guys for sharing your experience and expertise with us! We have a 2005 Jayco Jay Series model 1206. Just purchased! Never owned a camper of any type. Hubby & I have watched several of your videos. Others too but we find yours the MOST relevant & informative! Our pop up does have the cassette toilet. It also has the shower. The owners manual isn’t very helpful for either, lol! You got us up to speed on the toilet. But, we don’t know what size, type or where to find a sewer line for the gray water tank of the shower. Any suggestions or guidance is greatly appreciated! We haven’t camped yet. Practicing in the driveway! Also learning to pull and park it before maiden voyage Mid April 2022. Thanks so much! Happy Trails!!
Love to see your thoughts on the screen room - rather than using the awning-bugs? Do you just keep it open? Is it a better solution than the awning, or do you like both?
Thanks for the tour. One mod we did for bath towel racks: We hung 1/2" dowels under the bunk ends. I used 1/2" webbing and snaps to attach and remove during fold down. But there are many ways to hang. Just an idea... Could you comment on the usefulness of the LED light strip you put on the other camper? Did it stay glued down? Would you do that mod again on this camper?
Yeah, I really liked the LED strip light. So much so that I've already bought another set, just have yet to install it. They're self-adhesive and don't require additional adhesive.
Did you ever made the video about the cooler roll up mod? I am buying that popup tomorrow and will love to do that mod but I have no idea about the door, etc
@@ItsPoppincan you please tell me what’s the size of the door? 16 x16? I’m trying to buy one. That same cooler nobody have it for sale anymore, I hope I can fine something similar but I have no idea about the door
Sorry I misunderstood your comment. We did finish the mod and you’re correct, that cooler is discontinued. We bought the door off of eBay so it may also be not available. I would size the door to your specific cooler if you’re looking to do the same.
Asking for another: - Do you turn off your propane and empty your gas line by turning on the stove burners when packing up to leave? Should you or is it okay to leave the gas in the lines?
As a matter of practice, we don’t empty the gas line prior to leaving and I’ve never read anything about needing to. However, definitely turn off the propane tanks at the tank prior to travel.
I have a 2003 viking epic. 1906. Paid 500 bucks. Nothing fancy. The last ownere left every essential besides sheets and pullows.. looking to get out of my full tume rv. Haha. I off grid with 400 watts solar. So i have the basics down pat. Just need a ford ranger. Or suv. Keep maki g the motivating video's.
When you say your “bedding setup” do you mean your memory foams or something else? Your duvets look quite different from normal so am wondering what that's all about but cannot find a vid.
@@ItsPoppin ok, saw this vid. Thought it might be something to do with the bedding (sheets/comforter) not the setup. Looks like putting those mattresses back in are a piece of cake! 🍰
I used a portable BBQ for one season. Found it was a pain to keep absolutely clean so as not to attract bears. Quick safety tip ; not a good idea to sleep next to your food in bear country
Curious... I am new and I was told not to store food in the camper... Due to anything from bears or squirrels or racoons trying to get in at it? Do you have any animal issues?
Yea that threw me a loop too. Here in canada, I would never even dream of having food inside due to bears and raccoons. I won’t even eat in mine for same reason. Really depends on location I guess.
This video frustrates me to no end.. lol Not because of you . its a great video but here where I live. They have closed all the government parks due to covid and I have had two weekend trips refunded already. Im going to have to put my popup up in the back yard and pretend Im far away ..lol
Thanks for watching! Let us know if you have any questions about anything specific!
What would you suggest for bike racks on a pop up ?
Going camping in less than 2 weeks. Trying to decide on either a 10x10 straight leg canopy or the screen room you have. Any pros or cons
Pros of the screen room: compact, lightweight, and keeps bugs out (kinda sorta); Cons of the screen room: slower to set up/take down. Pros of the straight leg canopy: faster set up/take down; Cons of the canopy: bulky, heavier, and no protection from bugs
I don’t know where you all live, but maybe do a video on the camp grounds you stay at. Camp site ideas and recommendations.
Loving all the videos. My wife kids and I have tent camped for years. Now we are upgrading to a Coleman sun ridge for our first pop up. He have been looking for quite some time for a good pop up. And this one came along. Super excited to take it out!!!
I loved the cooler hack idea 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
A few things I didn't see but maybe you have. A fire extinguisher or two, a first aid kit, a couple of head lamps hanging around. Great channel.
We always put a tarp over our pop up, used the tarp as our dinner fly.

The cooler slide is awesome
Love it….however, I’m wondering if there’s a way to make some extra storage inside/under the bunk ends???? I’m open to/for suggestions!
Hope I see your shoe organizers me and my wife are trying to find a way for our pop up
cant wait til the snow melts and camping weather comes :) cheers!
I'd like to see how you constructed that awesome cooler rack in the front storage!
Absolutely, it's all filmed. Just have to sit down and edit it - lol.
Do you have a video showing your take down process? Do you fold and put all the bedding away? While you are cranking it down, how do you fold the canvas? More of a “just stuff it all in” kinda deal?
No video yet. However, we try to be deliberate with our fold and tuck method, which is hard to explain via text. Good idea for a future video though.

Yes, check out the 2008 Jayco Select 12HW Renovation playlist

Get that fixed, so you can get out there!

Awsome. Ours is a 2009 jayco Jay series baja select
"it's like an episode of cribs" :-D

We got our first pup last year and it's a highwall as well, how great is that extra height on the counters
Yes! That and the ceiling height!

Not yet, coming soon!

What are the IKEA bins called? Looks like a good clothing storage option!
They are all part of the SKUBB line of clothing (and wrapping paper) storage cases. We really love them!
Do you stake down the outside rug/ mat? How do they handle in the rain?
Yes, we use these: amzn.to/3vCyNqf. They're great in the rain, because they're permeable and allow the water to drain through.
Any chance you have a link to that outdoor RV mat? Cheers!
We got it at a local hardware store.
Do you just sit there and take a dump right in the open?
We just bought an 05 12hw lastnight but it doesn't have any keys. What do I do?
High likelihood that it uses these keys: 1. amzn.to/3buiAim
2. amzn.to/3I19ZQo
Edit: You may also need this key: amzn.to/3QTI354

32"
