Fact is there are many Eiffel tower replicas around the world, not just in China - 2. There are over 16 in USA alone - Nevada, Ohio, N Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Georgia and even 2 in Texas !

I went to Hallstatt, Austria earlier this year and learned that they're suffering from overtourism because of the Hallstatt replica in China. People visit the fake Hallstatt and then decide they want to travel to Europe to see the real thing. They had to limit the number of tour buses allowed in on any given day because overtourism was becoming such a problem (lucky for me I picked a pretty quiet day to go and was able to enjoy the town without fighting crowds)
In Hallstatt they have over 1700 visitors per inhabitant per year. In Venice i think they have around 30 or something. It's not just China though, it's also Korea, Japan, Arabic countries and a bit from everywhere. It will be restricted in the future, they are planning something just at the moment.
I agree. I am Chinese but I lived in the UK for about ten years. 1:46 -1:52 it just look like an area around the high street of a random English town. At first glance of course.
It’s amazing how fluent you are in Chinese. The Chinese people you met were very welcoming and friendly. I like your laidback approach when making vlogs. The replica Eiffel Tower looks remarkably accurate and huge in size. I hear there’s also another replica of a famous landmark called tower bridge in Suzhou.
I lived in China from 2005-2008. I love watching your videos. A lot of China has changed since I lived there and sometimes with current events I don’t recognize the China that I knew. The experience with that shop owner at 26:00 that they just randomly invited you for tea and watermelon is exactly how I remember China. For anyone confused by the flickering lights: Cameras made in America/lighting in America operates at a standard of 60Hz (this can be changed in-camera, of course), but China uses a 220V 50Hz system. As a result, the strobing of the lights at 50Hz causes aliasing due to the desync with his cameras 60Hz frequency (NTSC). It can be fixed by switching to the proper frequency for the lighting environment you find yourself in (In this case, Tommy should switch to PAL 50Hz).
@@UntangledKnots I believe they use both haha. 50Hz in East Japan and 60Hz in the West - feel free to double check that. You can always check by just pointing your camera toward a light and looking through the monitor panel (or take a test clip if you don't have a way to monitor footage real-time)
Sabbatical was asked a few times by older women if he was married. It's quite common that the older generation in China cares about if a person around 30 is married and suggests him/her to marry and have children, but I didn't expect them to ask an American tourist this question😂. They generally think a person should get married and start a family by around 30. The younger generation generally cares little about if a person is married or not. There are a lot difference between older and younger generations.

I am in a point in life that might use some more experienced knowledge to guide my attention to some more cost-effective ways of living, because of that being poorly done by me on the last years. Yeah, that's a complicated way to say I am broke. Hope someday in the future I can start some travel vlogging like I see you doing, but what really amazes me are the polyglossic interactions you show on your videos, and the naturallity you speak some languages always catch me offguard, besides already knowing you gonna talk chinese when you will be in China. If you ever come to southern Brazil I can show you around. We do not have the fancy architecture from Europe, but the people that emigrated from there a century ago. Anyways, amazing video as always, peace brother!✌
your video on China is so good. Funny but not exaggerated. I living. I need to stop by Hangzhou soon😅
dude. amazing video. from shanghai to hangzhou. such a treat.
Thanks for showing us the world 🔥🔥🙌🙌
I lived and worked in Songjiang for 7 years. Thames Town was a nice evening walk. I was able to watch it become more popular over the years 2014 - 2021. Thanks so much for the video.
Damn I need to visit China asap to boost my confidence 😂❤ I can’t wait to see you travel all the way through China, so excited!
This is the best travel vlog. Appreciate you, Tommy.
kids seem very relaxed around adults there, it's a sign of a healthy society. In my country, it's hard for adults to interact with kids when they're not with their parents, and that's a sign of a sick society.
What a great vlogg! I really enjoyed watching your video. Felt as if I was there with you along the way.
Kinda wild to see a version of the Eiffel tower without all of the annoyed French that complain on all of the tourists, trying to take selfies with it 😂.
Las Vegas... Hold my beer.
@@bonaudiAlso Macau.
@@leanlifer There are 80 real-size copies around the world, 15 are in America. The one in Macao is made by Las Vegas Sands (American Casino) and it is half the size. Been there, really cool place, The Parisian Macao it's called.
Also Tokyo Tower and Nagoya tv tower in Japan and 15 Eiffel tower replicas in USA alone!!
Do you know what the "annoying French" say to you, you little weasel manlet ? 🤬🤬
Fantastic video as always, they keep getting better!!
Great video, reminds me of my gap year in Hangzhou in 2009.
Amazing work and videos you produce ! Your super knowledgeable , refined and enjoy your insights on your explorations ! Keep up the good work my friend!
It’s incredible how China is so well developed, look at roads, cars on the roads, it’s just incredible and the people seem to be mad nice than what’s shown here on our US tv stations 🤦♂️
The China in the Western media is at least 50 years ago. Don’t be influenced by them. It’s all controlled by politicians.
When I was growing up in the 1960s, people in China rode bicycles and wore very bland clothing. Now we've come full circle where a bicycle is a status symbol in the United States
Awesome video man, thanks for sharing
@SabbaticalTommy - Actually, you're kind of a teacher.. you teach us about the places you visit! :)
Hey sabbatical! I’m planning on visiting the beautiful china this fall too😍
4500 USD per month is more than what I was expecting.

My family just cameback from China... once more let me know if you plan to come around naija
I am enjoying your content, 4 blogs watched so far. I would with Chinese people so for me it's a good insight.
Welcome to China❤❤❤
Love you from China❤❤❤
Great content! Seeing this video from the real Paris, it's actually amusing. It makes me wish to visit Hangzhou one day.
This is an awesome video. I'm up in northeastern China. If you make it up this way, let's grab a beer!
Thanks for your video! 40 minutes from Shanghai to Hongzhou is amazing thing!
40 minutes to get to Hangzhou by high-speed train.. and 67 minutes to get to Thames Town by metro. Maybe commuting from Hangzhou is better than from Shanghai suburbs..
well... depends how far you live from Hangzhou train station and how far your job is from Shanghai train station.
Very nice. Thanks for an unusual insight in China. Good luck with your next videos.
27:00 meanwhile in the us when you have a camera they call the cops
