Finn you said that everyone listens to the same Nu-Metal bands. I was wondering if you have ever listened to a fellow RUclipsr Whang's Nu-Metal band called Jynx? I really like them and wonder what you think about them if you have ever heard them?
I think I've said this before but I have never liked System of a Down. Let's see in this upcoming year how many people put them on a pedestal As legendary Artists.. I mean people can like what they want but I just don't understand it there is nothing good about that band If there's a System of a Down fan reading this please give me a couple of examples on why they're so good

My brother (born in 89) was in the height of nu-metal and he gave off those vibes to me even as a kid. He tried sooo hard to look bad but ended up looking goofy. He moved onto being a juggalo by 2004 so... if that says anything
Watching kids today think that nü-metal was inclusive and a cool aesthetic is a riot. They clearly never got whipped by a wallet chain worn by the dirty kid who smelled like maple syrup and cigarettes.
Man, reminds me of the old hardcore scene. "We accept anyone" then proceeds to beat up some kid for no reason, and stand around in front of the elks lodge smoking clove cigarettes.

What I love about this revival is the fact that I bought White Pony album when it came out because all alt chicks at my school loved it and it worked. And now decades later same strategy is still working somehow for young lads. My prediction is that early era Nine Inch Nails will come back next.
The White Pony patch a punk/gothy girl in my school wore on her backpack introduced me to the band xD She looked cool and I wanted to know what she listens to.
I'm 44 and played bass in a few nu metal bands since around 98. Had the dreadlocks, pierced eyebrow, big a$$ cargo pants, sweat wrist bands, etc. I now have a recording studio and continue to write nu metal music.. I just never stopped all these years.
@@subparnaturedocumentary always played Ibanez basses, from the 80s X Series to the Iceman and everything in between. It wasn't until recently that I bought a Jaguar short scale bass and a thunderbird bass for recording a few grunge style songs.
@therealkakitron nice! I'm not in a band or a pro but I have an ibanez sr305 left handed I play down in my basement, occasionally I'll play with my dad, he plays guitar, but it'll only be blues and country which I don't like but makes him happy
After 38 years I'm finally kinda bored of nu-metal tbh. I attribute this to years of therapy with a good therapist. Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne never get boring to me. White Pony is a great album though.
Kids listening to nu metal today is like my time in the late 90s/early 2000s when we liked the classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s. Everything from 20 years before your time become cool again for a while.
Where I was at in the 90s, the genre wasn’t looked down on as much as the fans were. Most nu-metal fans were The Dumb Kids. The future career petty criminals. The sniffing Actual Spray Paint before school kids.
Man, I got into nu-metal in like 2006. I was the "has-been" nu-metaller; not even a fan during it's prime, and like you said even if I was I'd still be bashed on. The has-been nu-metaller was so jaded we weren't even made fun of, just judged from a distance. It's amazing to see this resurgence of the genre, which is possibly even bigger than it's time during the late 90's/early 00's.
Finn, I’ll be 43 this year, and God as my witness, i have no idea what year/decade I’m living in anymore. But I’m happy to see this come back. I do argue that most of these bands are more butt-rock than Nu Metal, but hey… I’ll take any of this over indie/car commercial/whoa-whoa-whoa/foot stomp lameness all day, everyday!
I remember referring to new metal/mall kids as slum. Like the kid in a Cookie Monster hat, swim trunks and any new metal band shirt, socks, and sandals vibes that’s a slum kid.

You need to listen to the full version of Nik's nu metal song. It's called 'Primal' and it's genuinely a fantastic song! He got Justin from Tallah to do vocals
They've had their moments. Especially with the conspiracy theory stuff but. They actually incorporate real fucked up shit in their music. I feel like tons of other bands try to be all dark and shit but Hed Pe are actually what those other bands are talking about. Like they aren't pretentious in being having a screwed up past. The rest of that scene is really like, white boy who hangs NEXT to the ghetto but just wants to be cool. Cmon, let's be honest.
“Use too much of any of the 4 elements of Nü Metal and you’re annoying…too much angst, you’re Staind…” Nailed it! 👏 Staind were extremely annoying for that reason, and Linkin Park does have a nice balance of the 4 elements agreed
"Nike is the best"? I got news for you, Finn. I work at a Nike facility and no other brand name shoe is made cheaper and blows out quicker. I still can't figure out why they even attempted a skate shoe line honestly.
Only black metal bands fully accept their label. Almost every emo band hated being called emo. Some bands even try to lie straight lie about what they are to sound cool.
I went to the most recent Hed (PE) tour and I was shocked at how many young people there were. It was like 1/3 cargo shorts and xxl band t gen x dads, 1/3 elder emos and 1/3 tik tok afficionados.
I grew up in the 80's and never liked the hair bands that people called metal. I will admit that when nu-metal bands started to get played on Q101 in Chicago, I loved it. Nu-metal is what got me into heavier music. I'm kind of one of those people that seems like I am always in a good mood. But I like my music to be angry and aggressive. It is kind of cathartic for someone who has a hard time being assertive or angry ever. Korn was always my favorite.
Just a reminder that Staind, Skindred, Nonpoint, and Saliva all have new music either just recently released or released next month. It’s like 2001 all over again, just a little older and fatter. 😂
