i remember losing control of my car on ice and ending up in a ditch/ As the sheriff department pulls up they almost go in the same ditch! He got on the radio and said get someone out here NOW to salt these roads! I laughed so hard.
I slipped & fell in my driveway after an ice storm when I was 13, with an armful of books. I sat down hard on my backside & ended up crushing a disc in my back. It has been an ongoing problem throughout my 73 years. To this day, I walk like a duck when I see ice in my path. Yak Traks are a Godsend.
I fell on ice covered by snow and broke my hip in two places. The ambulance had a hard time getting to me and the trip to the hospital was very slow. The couple in Texas was hilarious because no one got hurt and they were laughing at themselves.
I’m so glad I live where we don’t encounter these issues often at all! The one with all of the bikers piling up, I was actually saying out loud they look like ants literally 3 seconds prior to hearing you say the same thing. Lol They really did from a further view! lol I laugher so hard on the video with the couple trying to walk to their house. Personally, the one where the dad was filming the school kids was funny. No one was hurt, thankfully. Perhaps the school should have checked and salted the sidewalks prior to school letting in/out. These were some crazy videos! The last one I could almost feel that dad hurting his back. Shouldn’t have worn flip flops outside.
As a Texan I have had plenty of falls when ice storms hit throughout my life. I spent three years in Germany and was worried about my clumsy self surviving until I realized that other places get snow with their ice. I absolutely understand the giggling couple in the beginning. Sometimes all you can do is laugh at the absurdity of your circumstances.
The truck going in. He just found a soft spot. Every winter up here, we have people in heavy duty trucks pulling 30ft. ice shacks out on the lake to go fishing!
Years and years ago when we lived in New Hampshire, my mom was going out to lunch with a friend. We had had a snowstorm but the walk and steps had been shoveled. The friend arrived in her car and beeped for my mom to come out and my mom went out and fell on the iced walkway. Her friend was laughing really hard (I’m pretty sure it looked funny) but my mom knew she was hurt. She was able to get up but was holding her arm. She said it really hurt. I think they continued to lunch but mom had to have an X-ray later and had broken her wrist. Gotta be really careful on ice! I thought the father in the second video was funny. There wouldn’t have been much he could do. The first couple was funny. I’m just so glad they made it and didn’t fall too hard!
Yeah tree's don't usually grow in the lake 😊 I live in Oshkosh on the west side of lake Winnebago. A Beer truck delivering, well Miller Beer, to an event on the lake broke through, the good news everyone made a line to the shore and safely unloaded the Beer before the truck went down. Oh the driver was fine and thanked everyone for helping save the stock. Priorities. 😊
Lyle, in parts of North America, lakes freeze until they have a foot and sometimes much more of ice. Ice fishing is a popular sport. As a matter of fact, in Alaska and Far Northern reaches of Canada, the only time remote settlements can be reached by "road" is in the Winter when even heavy tractor trailer trucks cross lakes or drive along rivers. Check out a History Channel program titled : "Ice Road Truckers" which shows the experiences of truck drivers in Alaska and Canada's Northwest Territories.
I used to work in the Alps for a British holiday company in the hotels over yonder, one night during the night shift a large chunk of snow that had built up atop the hotel slipped off and severely injured one of our guests, I immediately called our manager and the emergency services (not in that order) and we ended up with an air ambulance landing in the car park out front of the hotel to help our guest, she had quite a severe concussion but somehow remembered me rushing out to help her lol We got engaged 2 years later
Lyle, don't you know we ice fish in Michigan with our trucks all the time? That is very common. That way you don't have to lug all your gear way out in the middle of the lake (we have very big lakes here in Michigan). Once the temperature gets below a certain point ice melting becomes almost impossible on walkways, roads, etc because salt won't work anymore. Yes, we have used heat to open car doors (lighters, not blow torches) But, it only works about 20% of the time. Usually you can drive once the temps warm to the point that salt can do it's jot but maybe your car hasn't lost the ice yet.
I was in the ARMY in Germany and as the lowest rank, I git to tack out the trash, a giant bag of beer bottles and ice covered cobblestone do do well with us from California, Arizona and Texas.
Strap on cleats are your friend and you can't park in a sloped driveway or you may in up in your neighbors across the street (ask me how I know). "Oh my gosh why would you do that?" Because people get bored in the winter and think of crazy things to do 😇and the bruises are badges of honor. A couple of years ago due to the thaw freeze thaw freeze we had a chunk of ice take a big piece of out of our front porch . We got rid of our wheelchair ramp after I slipped on it twice in two winters due to frost and lastly I have actually had the trash bin fall on me when I fell taking it out fortunately it was dark so no witnesses to observe me trying to get out from under it or the laughing...because it was kinda funny.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, I saw my fair share of snow and ice storms. It was just a part of life, struggling not to fall on ice patches, seeing sidewalks cordoned off because buildings had large icicles that could drop at any time, and just learning to accept the fact that you have no control over the elements. The people who are mad at the father for taking the video and not warning people need to watch the video again, and look at how many kids are out there not warning their classmates either!

At Appalachian State University in North Carolina has high rise buildings around a quad. Traditionally, the upperclassmen stand upstairs and laugh at the freshmen trying to cross the quad. Since then area doesn’t get sun, it stays frozen most of the winter.
Most of the times the roads are safe because they get pretreated with salt if they know an ice storm is coming. It's the back roads, siewalks, and cars that you have to deal with.
My best observation, even when it happens to me, is when we slip on ice and see that there are witnesses, we make a fuss, muttering something about righteous indignation. But if we see no one, we laugh at ourselves as we get up and dust ourselves off. But truthfully, like my dad used to say, things are always funnier when they happen to someone else.
People who live in Northern parts of the US and in Canada are more accustomed to extreme icy conditions. Many of us have "ice Cleats" to strap on over winter shoes. My pair has ten carbide tipped studs in the sole of each cleat. Outside of the use of sand and salt, they the only things that will make walking on icy pavement fairly safe.
The bloke in the car is doing exactly as I would do and is reacting as I would too, even the kids are waiting to watch other fall victim to the ice from hell. 😀
'Why drive across a lake?' If you had only been ice fishing. The real question is why drive across thin ice? Too much beer. To walk up the slickest ice, simply take your shoes off & socks will get perfect traction. I have only heard of slip resistant boots. There are ice cleats but probably not in Dallas.
I live about 2 miles from Lake Winnebago. I haven't heard about any vehicles sinking this year, so far. They've had to rescue several fisherman off of breakaway ice. I keep my feet on the dirt. Ice is for my drink not, for walking OR driving. I'm a transplant from the south so, this ain't my kind of weather.🤣🥶 I'm so ready for summer and I got awhile to go.
I moved here to Memphis TN in October 2020 from SW Florida after 50 living there. The first snow I saw since 1978 was February 2021. I was walking my daughter's dog in the side yard of the apartment building in sandles. My only footwear. There was a small beaten snow path to and from the yard and sidewalk. As we were rounding the corner on our way back to the path i slip in the snow and right on my butt. Funny part was i was takking a video from the front door and still recording when I fell. So I got it on camera. I didn't stop recording and kept going until we were back at the door. I posted that video on Facebook. Fortunately snow only lasts 1-2 weeks here. But it's still cold as heck for another couple of weeks then its in the upper 50s lower 60s for the rest of the season. My daughter bought me a pair of non slip sneakers right after. I love colder weather. When we go anywhere my daughter tells me "its freezing out there. Make sure you wear a jacket." So i do and end up taking it off or unzipping and pulling up the sleeve cause I'm getting hot. In Florida its hot because of the humidity. When its 80 it feels like 100 and I'd get a lot of heatstrkes. Up here uts dry heat so if it's 80 degrees it's 80 degrees. I haven't had any heatstrokes. I can even stay in it for a bit.
I park halfway out of a street parking, like everyone else on that block parked. It finished snowing and the ground was complete ice. As i watched another person try and fail to drive up the street, i fell. I realized i could not get down the street, which was at a 40 degree angle. I crawled down the street, then walked, very carefully across to my apartment.
slipping and falling, especially, in winter conditions, it happens, its happened to me before, but some people are just asking to get hurt doing some of those stupid stunts.
We got 16 inches of snow then it warmed up but the next day it was like 10 degrees. Well let me tell ya I went ribcage first into a snow drift that was as hard as a rock. Only broke 3 ribs lol
Lol. Bro we have ice highways out here in the winter lmfao. We just drive across the river instead of waiting for ferries to come get us 😆 $25 and you got a set of velcro on cleats for your shoes. Safety MUST on most job sites i work on these days. 3" long and full foot width of spikes under the ball of your feet.
I worked in a gas station when it got so cold after a blizzard my car door would not open when I did get it open I couldn't shut it so I drove to work holding onto my door. It was a bad blizzard. From Yankton, South Dakora
I go ice fishing all the time. Yes we drive out onto the ice. But we go by what DNR tells us about how thick the ice is. 2 vehicles didn’t listen this past week and now they will be paying for a new vehicle plus all the charges for getting it out of the lake and to clean the lake of the gas and oil.
By the way, we used to call those sandals thongs in the US, as well. For some reason, a few people started calling them that ridiculous "flip flops", and it eventually caught on. Then they started calling certain underwear thongs, after the sandal that goes between your toes. A few higher end stores still call the shoes thong sandals. Glad you all haven't picked up "flip flops".
When I was 65, I slipped on the outside icy stairs. My right foot went straight out and my left leg collapsed underneath me as I slid down the stairs. At the bottom my left leg just popped out from underneath me and I lay sprawled out. Had to get an ambulance to take me to the hospital. I tore my left medial cruciate ligament and had to have surgery. It was not a fun time. Later, yeah, it was funny but not at the time.
Downhill bike riding, why? 1 - believe it or not folk think it's fun, 2 - adrenalin junkies will do anything to get a high, 3 - they are crazy . 🙂 We in the UK have down hill cheese chasing, look it up,
Ok wait a ssc... I have to say.. I disagree with you here. I definitely laugh AT them... not with them. LOL !! Nothing better to laugh at then people falling on ice !!
I just ADORE the first couple, and how despite the difficult conditions they're giggling like little kids. It's adorable!
i remember losing control of my car on ice and ending up in a ditch/ As the sheriff department pulls up they almost go in the same ditch! He got on the radio and said get someone out here NOW to salt these roads! I laughed so hard.
Yeah, I once had to resort to plan "B" after an ice storm. I crawled, yes CRAWLED up the driveway. It definitely wasn't as far to fall.
OUCH! Yeah, I did some damage to my tailbone quite a while ago, falling on a driveway. Thankfully I don't think I did anything awful.
I fell on ice covered by snow and broke my hip in two places. The ambulance had a hard time getting to me and the trip to the hospital was very slow.

I was in the ARMY in Germany and as the lowest rank, I git to tack out the trash, a giant bag of beer bottles and ice covered cobblestone do do well with us from California, Arizona and Texas.
The thing I learned when I was stationed there was that cobblestone was way more slippery than asphalt or concrete.
Strap on cleats are your friend and you can't park in a sloped driveway or you may in up in your neighbors across the street (ask me how I know). "Oh my gosh why would you do that?" I recommend having trekking poles in your car during winter so that you can use them to keep your balance during a storm or on frozen roads.
Oh, that's a good idea
At Appalachian State University in North Carolina has high rise buildings around a quad. Traditionally, the upperclassmen stand upstairs and laugh at the freshmen trying to cross the quad. Since then area doesn’t get sun, it stays frozen most of the winter.

I’ve lived in New England most of my life and can confirm you gotta watch your step in winter sometimes.
been in mass. my whole life and i've taken my share of falls over the years
My best observation, even when it happens to me, is when we slip on ice and see that there are witnesses, we make a fuss, muttering something about righteous indignation. But if we see no one, we laugh at ourselves as we get up and dust ourselves off. But truthfully, like my dad used to say, things are always funnier when they happen to someone else.
i wont lie when i first read 'when ice fights back' i was expecting I.C.E. Agents to be roughing some people up🤣🤣🤣🤣
Funny but not funny😂 been there, done that!! It is impossible to get traction on ice like that. So, I have crawled my way in!!

the snow blower ate mine and i still haven't replaced them...
currently there is a frozen ship in lake Erie.
Schadenfreude is a thing that's a thing we enjoy, but we don't want to admit it's a thing we enjoy.
I grew up playing hockey and skateboarding in Canada... Ice on slopes is horrible!
The bloke in the car is doing exactly as I would do and is reacting as I would too, even the kids are waiting to watch other fall victim to the ice from hell. 😀

Where I live, when we get snow or ice, if you get into a car accident, don't call the cops unless someone is seriously injured.

The bike ones look like ants
Wait until they realize they are parked in the middle of the road and their going to have to move that car. ❤
Again Dallas kids need more practice with ice lol me and the boys used to grind icy handrails in our shoes during Ice days.
I worked in a gas station when it got so cold after a blizzard my car door would not open when I did get it open I couldn't shut it so I drove to work holding onto my door. It was a bad blizzard. From Yankton, South Dakora
NEVER EVER walk on ice with your hands in your pockets.
Trucks are always on the ice providing it’s safe of course
The first video must be Texas in Michigan we keep ice picks in the garage known as a “spade” oh yep he just said Dallas.

We have road gates in the winter and every year people open the gate drive in get stuck no phone service or GPS or internet, RIDICULOUS!
If you don’t have cleats, put your socks on over your shoes. You won’t slip! It looks weird, but it is better than a hospital bill.
When I was 65, I slipped on the outside icy stairs. My right foot went straight out and my left leg collapsed underneath me as I slid down the stairs. Meals would have earned them. So they would not get hurt. In the first place.
Ya'll need to put socks on your shoes ya be surprised how well they work
Yes, that would have killed a person
This is not uncommon in Minnesota

I thought you were talking about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)!
GABRIEL HENRIQUE COM 3 MÚSICAS NOVAS
You might want to change the title buddy, Ice nowadays makes people expect something different with what’s going on here.
Ok wait a ssc... I have to say.. I disagree with you here. I definitely laugh AT them... not with them. LOL !! Nothing better to laugh at then people falling on ice !!
From your title I thought the video was about the ICE raids...I'm a little disappointed it wasn't
