Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on RUclips, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

Sir, the Good Lord gave her a deep and smoky voice, high intelligence and she knows exactly how to use both. Practicing singing since around age 3 or 4, at this point in time she was already a veteran vocalist. Aside from her craft, she has a big heart for the not so lucky ones. From 2014 to 2020 alone she worked at fundraisers, charity events and helped gathering more then 30 million USD. 21 Million EUROS alone in one night in Berlin, Germany at "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A heart for the children). Great reaction. This is a stunning performance. This was my introduction to Angelina a little over a year ago and I have been hooked ever since. I’m sure someone will post the story behind her performing barefoot. Although the posting date of the video is September 2016 it was actually recorded about a year and a half earlier when she was 9 year 2 months. It is sometimes difficult to pinpoint her age if based on the posting date.
FYI, you aren't a fan of Angelina, you are an Angle, that is what the Barefoot Angel calls her fans. The Angles believe Angelina is a messenger of love, kindness, and peace.

i think angelina has god given gift to sing, we know that, But she has been brought up right, down to giving her shoes to a homeless child and vowing never to wear shoes when she performs, says alot, i think she is now what 17 18, here family have done well protecting her, yeah sing your songs, earn some money, still gone through school and allowed to be a child and grow to teenager the best you can, even now, she is up there with the greats, she has been well grounded by her grandmother who she adores and her parents, and the love her and her sister have. "What generation is she from?" She's creating her own generation that combines sounds and voices of the past with modern connections. When you think you know her voice, she uses it differently to express the meaning of the next song. Go back to Norway's Got Talent (ages 7-8). All four songs sound different, yet still Angelina. If you check out 4 of her most recent (age 16-17), "My Funny Valentine" (classic jazz), "Suspicious Minds" (Elvis cover), "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston cover) and "Love Don't Let Me Go (original), you will hear "different" voices, yet all Angelina. Every song only displays a small part of what she is capable of. Reactors say, " Oh, this is what she sounds like now." only to find out it was that song only. Check out "Mount Everest" for something different and unexpected. Your wonder, awe, and appreciation are shared. Keep them coming. This rabbit hole is deep, indeed, and will soon expand to include the new stuff coming shortly. Fun times, for sure.
Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. Thank you for featuring Angelina a second time, I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on RUclips, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
(l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

It doesn't really matter which performance you react to next, they are ALL amazing. I know that it sounds like the average blah blah blah from the fan of ANY singer out there, but I know that you will understand that Angelina is something completely different. The fact that she then has an outstanding fantastic voice and theatrical body language only makes everything even better. The musicians are also amazingly good. Sir, the Good Lord gave her a deep and smoky voice, high intelligence and she knows exactly how to use both. Practicing singing since around age 3 or 4, at this point in time she was already a veteran vocalist. Aside from her craft, she has a big heart for the not so lucky ones. From 2014 to 2020 alone she worked at fundraisers, charity events and helped gathering more then 30 million USD. 21 Million EUROS alone in one night in Berlin, Germany at "Ein Herz für Kinder" (A heart for the children).

When you have time check out two other songs she did that are very different but awesome. the first is "Above The Water" which was a collaboration project. The second is and old jazz blues song called "My Funny Valentine" which she did twice once as a child and then in 2020 she did it again and killed it. Although the posting date of the video is September 2016 it was actually recorded about a year and a half earlier when she was 9 year 2 months. It is sometimes difficult to pinpoint her age if based on the posting date.
FYI, you aren't a fan of Angelina, you are an Angle, that is what the Barefoot Angel calls her fans. The Angles believe Angelina is a messenger of love, kindness, and peace.

At that point she had at least 4 years experience in the studio and many solo performances in public, including winning Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday jazz after entering the competition at 7 years old. One of the most talented vocalists since Michael Jackson according to Quincy Jones. Good reaction.

i think angelina has god given gift to sing, we know that, But she has been brought up right, down to giving her shoes to a homeless child and vowing never to wear shoes when she performs, says alot, i think she is now what 17 18, here family have done well protecting her, yeah sing your songs, earn some money, still gone through school and allowed to be a child and grow to teenager the best you can, even now, she is up there with the greats,
she has been well grounded by her grandmother who she adores and her parents, and the love her and her sister have. Well done MUM and DAD

At the beginning you see her something writing on a sheet and a man reading it and smiles than.. in an interview this man, who was the "bandleader", said, this were some "wishes" from Angelina (she was every time very polite he said) for changes of her arrangement for the piano 😃
The candle you can see at about 0:12 shows a portrait of J. Hawkins - I think her grandma bought it at a concert in Tokyo ;)
At 0:26 you can see the bassist smiling - I can imagine that he smiles about the expectable reactions of the listeners in the moment, when Angelina starts to sing at 0:30 😏
Btw. I read somewhere that her grandma was in person at a concert of SJH in Japan (as she, AJs mother and uncle lived there some years - AJs grandpa is Japanese) and there AJs grandma bought this candle as a souvenir ;)
