The Plymouth Prowler would be on my list of cars to get (not even just a guilty pleasures list) but I would heavily modify it mechanically, starting with a manual swap and an engine swap.
My guilty pleasure is a 4 cylinder turbo automatic Camaro. I work for a car rental company, and thus was the first car I did a burnout in. All of my cars have been front wheel drive and I was surprised the Camaro did a burnout.
Interesting video,Doug! My truly guilty pleasure of all time is that I still love and want my first car back. 1966 Corvair Corsa, with the four one barrels. Kia Carnival is in the vein of a good minivan, which folks put down as a soccer mom car or what not but they carry a ton of stuff in relative comfort, easy to load, lots of them have features like fold away storage, easy to maneuver, so I get that. Hummer EV also a great pick, and it's miles per gallon equivalent on highway is the same as a Ford Maverick hybrid, which is just terrible for an EV, the F150 Lightning has about 50% better efficiency...the F150 lightning! But the Hummer is what is was designed to be. I think my picks would be a Chevy SSR, it's a convertible truck that's not too good at either but looks super cool, or maybe like a Challenger Demon 170, which I think they measure gallons per mile instead of miles per gallon on it.😅

15:00 These are used as chauffeur driven vehicles in Asia and when well equipped are a valid alternative to things like the Long Wheelbase Range Rover and Mercedes-Maybach GLS. I’m on board.
For me a truly guilty pleasure was driving a Trabant 601. For me as a West German it is a ridiculous car and a saw zillions of them when I visited my relatives in East Germany. My cousin once let me drive his Trabant and it was a real pleasure because it was so different. For him there was no alternative but I could easily change into my West German car and go to freedom.
With the Lexus LC500, I mean you could say ANY sports cars or grand tourers are silly and hard to justify buying, which is why we view them as dream cars; and every car always has a compromise or two you need to accept.
If the Ford (Mercury) Capri meets the definition of a GT car, in a book about them they said that one was used for transporting Formula One engines between the U.K. and Germany. Being a hatchback they were actually a very practical car.
I like the Hummer EV too, but I don't know that it's actually "more efficient than any gas car." Just being electric doesn't mean a car is efficient, and I'd be willing to bet a truck that weighs 9,000 lbs and does 0-60 in 3 seconds is about the least efficient thing on the road.
Funny enough, my favorite corvette gen is the C4. I loved mine when I owned it; it was very quirky, was super engaging to drive, looked quite exotic and had a great sounding manual V8. They’re underrated in my opinion.
Doug you gotta do a review on the C4. Earlier ones with the all-digital instrument panels would be cool to go through and the later ZR-1's are quirky too

Oh damn (sorry dang). Just found this podcast. Alanis, I saw you on Jim Jeffries’ podcast (hands down my favorite podcast hosted by a comedian) Hope you and Doug continue to make these. Thanks! Edit: forgot to add Alanis, in Korean, all big celebrities get driven around in nice minivans and vans so you’re absolutely right. Besides what is a husband for? My wife about every other week asks me to buy the Carnival so I can drive her around in it…
In Korea, they have specialized limo spec'd out Kia carnivals. Those things are ultra luxurious and still under $100k (About $77,000 to be exact). Not to mention 3rd party aftermarket designers who can put all out options in as well. I live in Korea and saw one and it was absolutely gorgeous inside.
Did you shoot these all on one weekend, just changing shirts? Or are you having Alanis fly in every week for a new video? And why are the cookies gone?
The Lexus LC500 is great and I’d love to own one. They’re an Aston Martin for 1/3 the cost, but this one will actually run. I’d 100% daily it if I had had $80k to drop on a daily
I am 100% with Alanis on her rationale for these. There are lots of sports cars I can't justify -even some I've owned that were guilty pleasures because they were outright impractical. My guilty pleasure car equivalent to the minivan for Alanis is a Chrysler 300 with a long wheelbase (not a limo). I want someone to drive me around in that. No idea why. Buuut I'll stick with my 23 year old Dakota
My guilty pleasure is the SSR. My grandfather had one growing up, and I loved driving that thing. My father recently inherited it and sold it on cars and bids actually, great site doug!
One of my guilty pleasure cars has always been the 4th gen mustang. I know it’s not really the mustang body style people are used but I always thought it was a good looking body style.
Alanis is on point with the carnival. In Korea, lots of celebs, politicians and wealthy people get chauffeured in carnivals to keep a low profile and to be seen humble.
My guilty pleasure car would be the Infiniti QX80. I’m definitely not an SUV guy, or a Nissan/Infiniti fan but that giant thing just has so much presence and I think its completely outdated engine and interior is so funny

And I always preferred the C4 over all the other Corvettes up until the C7. It has the best styling to my eye. Got to drive one once, automatic unfortunately, but learned I barely fit and my dreams died.
I just drove by an LC500 (at the Frizz and Freeze in Leola PA, just in case anyone local is watching). I saw it and was like "is that something special"?. It took me a minute to figure out is was an LC500. Still love this car though. I looked at 1 about a year ago at BMW Lancaster PA and they wanted over 100k...pretty low mileage.
In summary… Doug’s choices: American cars that only Americans wanted at some point and are generally considered to be low key shitboxes or full blown useless. Alanis’s choices: cars that just about no one wants but she can’t help but like anyway for personal reasons. And that’s why Doug’s channel is great, because it features what car enthusiasts are about - liking cars for the sake of liking cars, even when a particular car just makes absolutely no sense. Liking a good, reliable, boring car like a Camry isn’t car enthusiasm. Liking a old car that never made sense and makes even less sense now? That’s enthusiasm.
Thank you for admitting the 4th Camaro (and C4 corvette for that matter). I had a framed picture of a pre-facelift 4th gen in my room as a kid (😂😂) all the way to college and it is still my favorite Camaro generation!! Always been slightly embarrassed about it but I still see low mile versions pop up every once in a while and think.......soooooon!

At least the Trabant passed the Elk test 🙂
Doug is the type of guy to add no thumbnail to his video even after 10 minutes of upload
My brother daily's a LC500. I've ridden in the back seat as an adult i just say it was very manageable for the 20 minute ride
I like the Hummer EV too, but I don't know that it's actually "more efficient than any gas car." Just being electric doesn't mean a car is efficient, and I'd be willing to bet a truck that weighs 9,000 lbs and does 0-60 in 3 seconds is about the least efficient thing on the road.
we need another one of these, doug sure has more guilty pleasures
Funny enough, my favorite corvette gen is the C4. I loved mine when I owned it; it was very quirky, was super engaging to drive, looked quite exotic and had a great sounding manual V8. They’re underrated in my opinion.
My brother had one for a little bit, it was super fun to ride shotgun in.
Doug you gotta do a review on the C4. Earlier ones with the all-digital instrument panels would be cool to go through and the later ZR-1's are quirky too
My guilty pleasure is the 2nd gen Scion xB. So many hate it. I love it. I love the boxy looks. I love space and practicality that so many cars seem to miss now adays.
I’m glad the Carrera GT finally ate it’s cookies.
This was great! Probably should rename this episode to “Moped”. “everybody wants to ride it, but nobody wants to be seen on it”. Reminds me of a girl in high school nickname… lol
My wife about every other week asks me to buy the Carnival so I can drive her around in it…
Thank you for watching!
My guilty pleasure is the ever-quirky and insane Aston Martin Cygnet
Alanis didnt understand the assigment.. her husband on the other hand got right the concept… awesome video 😎
I was literally about to type this. 👍
She's not very bright ...
She got it fine she just has a different idea of what a guilty pleasure is. Let's not start with the misogyny.
But her Kia Carnival pick was the perfect choice. She doesn't even want to drive it. Chauffer Vans are an awesome category.
@@OrbObserver Misogyny is when you disagree with woman.
LC500 is definitely NOT a guilty pleasure. It’s a straight up cool car.
Did you shoot these all on one weekend, just changing shirts? Or are you having Alanis fly in every week for a new video? And why are the cookies gone?
Ate em
The Lexus LC500 is great and I’d love to own one. They’re an Aston Martin for 1/3 the cost, but this one will actually run. I’d 100% daily it if I had had $80k to drop on a daily
If you can afford it, love it, then buy it. You owe no one an excuse 😊

Alanis didn’t understand the assignment. Maybe if she stop interrupting Doug and listen until the end she could.
I drive a 20 year old dakota and I really want the last model year of the lincoln town car
My guilty pleasure is the SSR. My grandfather had one growing up, and I loved driving that thing. My father recently inherited it and sold it on cars and bids actually, great site doug!
First of all...hilarious! And Alanis your trunk pictures put the entire video over the top. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Alanis, if you want a minivan with power, get a last gen ('18-'20) Sienna.
3.5 L V6, 296 hp. Activate "ECT PWR" mode and send it.
Doug the kind of guy to clone a female version of himself
One of my guilty pleasure cars has always been the 4th gen mustang. I know it’s not really the mustang body style people are used but I always thought it was a good looking body style.
New Edge ones look so athletic and cool. I want one for my first fun car.
Alanis never understands the assignment 😂
Alanis is on point with the carnival. In Korea, lots of celebs, politicians and wealthy people get chauffeured in carnivals to keep a low profile and to be seen humble.
Doug when will you admit you love the Evoque Convertible
My guilty pleasure car would be the Infiniti QX80. I’m definitely not an SUV guy, or a Nissan/Infiniti fan but that giant thing just has so much presence and I think its completely outdated engine and interior is so funny
Kia Carnival mention reminded me of a guy I met who's favorite car of all time was a Skoda Superb LNG (liquid natural gas) station wagon 😂
those are incredibly nippy off the line and skoda is the "poor mans luxury" car, great and affordable.
What nationality was he? In Europe it would be a great choice. Skoda a common choice for U.K. Police forces. If he was in the U.S.A. it would tick a whole load of "Forbidden Fruit" boxes.
@@MrDuncl he's German and currently driving an BMW E91 330d Touring

I always had a soft spot for the Prowler. It came out when I was 10 and someone in my neighborhood had one years later. Always enjoyed seeing it when he left the garage door open.
And I always preferred the C4 over all the other Corvettes up until the C7. It has the best styling to my eye. Got to drive one once, automatic unfortunately, but learned I barely fit and my dreams died.
Waiting for Alanis to say Polaris Slingshot
I just drove by an LC500 (at the Frizz and Freeze in Leola PA, just in case anyone local is watching). I saw it and was like "is that something special"?. It took me a minute to figure out is was an LC500. Still love this car though. I looked at 1 about a year ago at BMW Lancaster PA and they wanted over 100k...pretty low mileage.
I love how Alyssa’s personality interacts with Doug’s personality. Makes the videos even more entertaining
I whole-heartedly thought one of you was going to say a 2002 Pontiac Firebird, though the Camero/Vette was right up there.
Love this content, she is great
100% with Alanis on the Carnival, except Sienna Hybrid
I LOVE when Alanis gets ready excited.
In summary…
Doug’s choices: American cars that only Americans wanted at some point and are generally considered to be low key shitboxes or full blown useless.
Car cookies are Doug’s guilty pleasure
Thank you for admitting the 4th Camaro (and C4 corvette for that matter). I had a framed picture of a pre-facelift 4th gen in my room as a kid (😂😂) all the way to college and it is still my favorite Camaro generation!! Always been slightly embarrassed about it but I still see low mile versions pop up every once in a while and think.......soooooon!
Doug and Alanis are a great combination, loving the new videos, thanks a lot guys :)) 😁
Rivian should make a convertible for Doug. It would have everything he likes about the Hummer, without the optics.
Entertaining video, even if barely any of the vehicles really seem like true guilty pleasures
I have an opinion, the 98’ rav4 2dr convertible, rarer and more reliable than a geo tracker. But also a 2dr convertible suv
Doug is the type of guy to not make a thumbnail for his video
We own a Kia Carnival with captains chairs and absolutely love it.
Love your chemistry guys!
What makes the hummer EV more dangerous than the super duty is that it weighs over 2000 pounds more and accelerates at a much higher rate
I love these videos. Alanis is a keeper 👌🏻
I'm sorry if this hurts the man's feelings, but Alanis is so much more entertaining than Kennan. Her presentation, personality, and chemistry with Doug is just superior, and the videos she is in are much better by comparison.
Is Alanis hiding an Australian accent? Listen to how she says “that is so exciting” at 1:07…
She's from Texas
@@AdamG1983The Australia of North America.
Nah
I love how Alanis' version of practical amounts to whether or not you can fit a dead body in it
I wonder does Doug's wife get jealous when Alanis be in their house like "Doug who is this b****?!!!!!"
Fun Fact. The Prowler was quicker than the Mustang GT through its run. Even beating the convertible Cobra in 99, and matching the Cobra hardtop.
