Really effective way to work mate and so doable for anyone really. Colour grading is definitely something I need to master. Watched a couple of movies recently and I love the colours and lighting look. I want to bring that to my commercial photography or perhaps just for personal projects. Bridge Of Spies has a great look as well as being a brilliant movie. I'll scan through your tutorials for more colour grading, it'd be great to see a class on just that from you, taking real world examples and showing how to achieve it, not just in a copying way, but so you get an understanding of how to achieve your own look.

Hi Matey. Thanks so much for commenting. Love the idea of recording more colour grading videos so yeah will do that and will look to replicate looks from movies etc. Any other ideas such as Bridge of Spies please do let me know...could end up adding this kind of content in the new book ;)

Thanks for the installment Glyn! This SO reminds me of Calvin H's method of shooting gray, and the blend modes for the shadow retention. Although this is a first seeing it done on white -- darkened to gray, and forward..

I loved the color grading tips at the end. Reminds me a lot of Joey L's work. I've had the Nik Collection for ages but usually only use Silver Efex. I need to experiment more! thank you!

Nice job! still, I think the subjects are brighter than the the background, considering the brightness of the room that we began with, after u "darkened" the background, their faces and skin remained bright and needed to be to darkened a bit, what do you think Glyn?

Great tutorial! Is there any advantage to adding the levels adjustments (as opposed to just using a cutout) if there aren't any shadows on the background you want to keep?

HI There. I then went on to use LUTs (Look Up Tables) to colourise the image and correct the skin tones. I have videos on that in the library; here's ones to check out: ruclips.net/user/glyndewissearch?query=look%20up%20tables Also with the skin tones, you can correct them using a mask attached to the colourising and then use the density slider and a black brush to control how much.

The links to your lighting are dead. Do you have a current link (its impossible to browse ur blog post because uve done so many) or do you have a video on group lighting?
They disappeared when I had someone work on my former website. I’ll look at writing a new post to show the set up for this 👍🏻

Hi Glyn. Total novice here. If you dont have an area with a large plain background to start with, can you create one in photoshop by selecting your subject and removing a cluttered background?
Sure thing. Just make sure to add a little bit of texture and a slight change in tone where the floor and wall meet and you'll be good.

Glyn, loved your presentation at Max 2017! Quick Q for this board room shot: you said you used one 50” octa on this if I remember? What with the inverse square law, how did you so evenly light close and far from the light? Shouldn’t the people at camera left been much brighter?? Cheers!
