Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could ruclips.net/user/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
There’s just something about this guy 1rod. Something that I don’t even know, maybe it’s his hype when he catches a bass or his educational tips but something has made me watch this guy for 3 years not missing a single upload even through the ups and downs. This guy 1rod was the reason I started bass fishing.

I am a complete beginner to fishing and had only gone with my grandad a had full of times as he was a very keen fisherman and I bought a pretty basic rod/reel set a couple months ago and find it a struggle with casting with a flout/bb rig but I’ve been watching you over the last few days and gonna see if casting with lures is easier and makes me practice more. I live right next to a nice chalk river called the Stour in Kent Uk and found a nice little spot a 10 minute walk behind a supermarket so going there very shortly. I’ve found your videos very interesting
Seeing video after video of yours with that bait caster reel has me saving up to get one. I want one for fish from small size to mid size as I don't do much large fish hunting. Basically 3 to 4 pounds and lower. Which would you recommend that won't break the bank but isn't the cheapest model? I see tons of different brands and they get super expensive. Which would you recommend for someone on a budget? Thanks for the videos. Bringing much knowledge and entertainment
Mike!, that booger is what we here in Australia call "a bat in the cave". First rule of filming, especially when filming yourself, make sure there are no bats in the cave... 🤣🤣🤣
