  • Week 1 of Dopey Training! Oh my goodness, boy am I excited! This week I started my 28 week long running training cycle. That's right 28 weeks! The FAMOUS Jeff Galloway created a free training program (link below) and that is what I plan to follow for this Dopey 2024 preparation. In this video, I take you along with me on my 3 training runs. We discuss my game plan for training, my running intervals (30/30), my cross training days, and even the Springtime Surprise theme reveal. Spoiler Alert: I love the Stitch theme!     Now that we have all those links thrown at you, I wanted to throw some extra information your way if you are new into the runDisney world. I am currently training for the Dopey Challenge 2024. This is a running series that takes place at Walt Disney World and is hosted by runDisney every January at Marathon Weekend. The Dopey challenge consists of running a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon on back to back days. It is a grueling 48.6 miles, but I suspect will be so magically. With training for this amount of miles, I know it will be a long and painful process. However, I am excited to share my journey and document this process. Lastly, I did take a long break from running due to my attempted thru hike of the Appalachian trail and due to injury. While my knowledge of training for long distance races is still there, I am basically starting at ground zero with my fitness level. So come join me for this crazy, long, and tough training cycle.

    Woohoo! Week 1 done! Those running paths along the water are so beautiful. I didn’t get out early to run Saturday morning so I ended up going on a 7 mile hike in the NC mountains instead of doing my 6 mile run. But I’ll be running in the heat tomorrow.

    Great first week of training. I know finish the Dopey Challenge about 3 month ago, but I’m interested to see your thoughts on training. I’m late to the training party, lol.

    CONGRATULATIONS on official training week one! Florida summer: I found just before sundown temp and humidity drop and before the mosquitoes, but I rarely had the energy that late, you might. Treadmill is a good alternative, yesterday feels like temp was 108°! How much of your favorite movie can you recite while running on the treadmill? I'll watch that video. Keep it up!
