Since at that time he didnt have a guitar that can play in drop A# since the string tension will be a bitch and will be too lose to play you will need a 26 or 26.5 inch scale length to play properly in drop A# with perfect string tension. His hell raiser has a floyd rose and it's too hard to set it up. Above that guitar is 25 inch scale length so it wouldn't work. So what he did is he tuned his 7 string to drop A and put on a capo on the first fret so the tuning moves to drop A#.
