  • With this song I really wanted to focus more on the creepy atmosphere of deep dark. Ever since they added it there was something otherwordly and alien about the biome. Something fascinating and intimidating at the same time. I played around with a lot of weird textures to add to the unsettling ambience of the whole biome. The drums are also not just some typical drums and they almost resemble a heartbeat that gives you a sense of adrenaline that captures the feeling of sneaking around in the biome.

i really like how the drums did capture that adrenaline / heartbeat feel you described in the description, to be fair the way it continued not only as a prominent sound but also as part of the background and becoming increasingly more present, shifting from the back to the front, it really ensured while listening there was always a sense of tension. I could also SWEAR i heard some really faint choir in the background, maybe thats just my mind playing tricks on me but i feel like the ongoing synth (idk if thats what that is, as we've established my knowledge of music terms n stuff is fucking pitiful) really gave a bit of an eldritch horror feeling, like what a lot of cosmic / eldritch horror shares with the deep dark is that its mostly unexplainable, and what seems logical always has some kind of underlying feeling that it's not quite as it seems. I love how as we progressed toward the end the drums become a LOT more isolated, i felt as though it really captured like a moment before death (death being the closing of the song) or going unconscious where you really hear and find that the sound of your heartbeat becomes a lot more prominent & somewhat violent and overwhelming. I also liked how there was a really brief sense of isolation, the feeling of traversing with the ongoing synths and those ~𝓂𝑜𝒾𝓈𝓉~ samples, however as the heartbeat becomes increasingly violent (maybe the fluctuation of the drums' harshness resembling the fear of isolation and overcoming the fear) it really creates an atmosphere of dread and really leads the listener to believe that the sense of isolation was the tip of the iceberg, and really there's something so much more ominous about the deep dark under it's surface

Thank you so much pyx ♥ there was an eerieeness I really wanted to capture. And in a way the song evolves for sure. It starts almost like entering this unknown cave and as you get deeper the you also get deeper in your anxiety where you almost feel watched and this sense of adrenaline, which I really wanted to capture by the distortion at the end. I wanted to visually add like a warden spawning in which would explain more the heart going slower and slower almost like death as you explained at the end. The sense of isolation is such a good way to describe it, because that's really something I wanted to add to the whole thing. I went for really textured and reverbed, wide sounds to add that sense of emptyness and isolation. You hear every sound bounced through the walls and it keeps echoing and reverbing. I really appreciate a comment like this, your support really movivates me. Thank you soo soo much ♥

that middle part feels kinda moldy, I never realized that the deep dark could be some kind of fungus but it really fits with the textures

I've always seen it as this otherworldly moldy fungus vibe in my head, cuz of the interaction of killing mobs spreading the deep dark material more lol. I've always heard it as something that's really alive and almost like crawling through the walls. Hope you enjoyed :3
