and while they cycle through your supposedly endless non lethal options that don't work the suspect slices the innocent victim to ribbons..... The suspect was tased to no effect, what else are they going to do? Police carry one non lethal option on patrol, the taser, they do not carry riot gear with them on normal patrol duties....
You have to be quite close to the other person to use any spray weapon, and since he had a knife, that was obviously not an option. Also police don't have time to try multiple non-lethal options (even if they have them). Why would they give a criminal so many chances?
