I love ur show Lauren even when it not in ur element as a spear fish man. All of the people I have on ur show are so humble and good at that there craft. As the saying goes a good trady never blames there tools and u know on a team tournament it's not just the person who brings in the fish it's everyone because a line in the water some one not ready to put on the gimble makes a difference enjoy life always lauren
Great video Lauren, I remember my step dad fishing in tournaments in Hawaii. They took 2nd one year, 3 yellowfin tuna all over 200 lbs, a huge ono and the biggest mahi of the tournament at 69lbs, those were the days! I fished for marlin, tuna and such with him as a teenager but never got lucky. Of course the big 1000lb+ marlins were almost a guaranteed win if you could actually land one
You mentioned the importance of bleeding your tuna as soon as possible, might I suggest that you also place a couple of shallow 1”vertical cuts behind the pectoral fins and another at the base of the tail this helps drain the main lateral line blood vessels (especially important for bill fish) Ikejimi and spinal tapping is also advisable on the high value fish but this is quite a technical skill and requires some specific instruction. Did you ever find out why that cannon wouldn’t fire? Keep up the great content, cheers
Thank you for the tips! Next time I'll be sure to make those cuts. Yes, we found out that the person who rigged the gun for me made the rubber bungee that goes from the shooting line to the trigger release waaayyyyy too tight and that's why it wouldn't shoot. I usually rig all of my guns myself, but I borrowed that gun so I hadn't set that one up.
No matter how many times I think it or say it, I love your videos! I wish you guys did not lose the big tuna that you hooked into on the first day but it was great seeing you spear the bull Mahi and your tuna. Please keep the awesome content coming.

i was also in Turkey because of summer with my friends from germany. Such a beautiful country with lovely people. Istanbul must be the most beautiful city in the world. I was also in Izmir Cesme and Bodrum. We catch also some fish but we used surfcasting stuff to catch some.

The scenery there just looks so inviting and refreshing. what a nice trip. When a gun has 6 bands on it are you supposed to pull all 6? That seems like it would become an armor piercing shot lol. Also I know you were getting heated when the gun didn't fire on those 2 attempts, sheesh. Hey you still nailed the mahi and you got your tuna. Well done to the team and that was an awesome catch and release.
