Hi Casey :-) Oh, I love these. I hope it goes well for you. If they're good enough for the likes of Billie Joe Armstrong, Billy Gibbons (his first guitar I think) Carlos Santana and probably some other guitarist named William they'll be good enough for the likes of mere mortals like us. Good luck! Cheers, Gary :-)
@FoxysGuitarShow RE: my melody maker safari...OK, by the serial number, it's a 1968 SG type, but the old guy that's owned it for the last 40 years put a Khaler bridge on it. It even has a couple drywall screws in the bridge, lol! And a push-pull pot on one of the humbuckers. But the bridge is stable and it holds tune, so for $600 USD I bought it. It's my first chance at owning a vintage guitar, and as they say "It's a survivor" guitar. Maybe I'll get the $$ to restore it, but for now, I'll pay it as it is, and enjoy all the MOJO. Cheers!
You know what Gary after that review maybe one pick up is all you need, what a great sounding guitar , nice playing by the way you made it sing, cheers man see you Saturday🎸👍
Hi Andy and thanks mate :-) These little jockeys are so liberating you barely know you've got one on! Always something nice for the weekend, sir. Cheers :-)
Hi Alan, congratulations on your wise purchase! These guitars are awesome and vastly underrated. I'd be perfectly happy to gig with one of these all day long. Cheers, Gary :-)
In the same way its synonymous for candy apple strats & gold top LP's these were meant to be white, albeit it looks like they've been painted with some left over ceiling emulsion.
Hahahaha, hi Michael :-) It may look like Woolworth's generic brand emulsion but up close it resembles B&M Bargain's own exterior stone paint paint. Thanks goodness it isn't the textured one! No expense spent, eh? Cheers :-)
Hi Foxy, Have just found you on RUclips and am now a subscriber. Enjoy your guitar content and features. Just catching up on your previous programmes. Very impressive and entertaining. Keep up the show and playing. Wanted to say 'hello'. Regards Mick (Wolverhampton).
Hi Mick and thanks for the sub :-) Wolverhampton, eh? My parental family's neck of the woods. I was in Upper Gornall the other day helping my cousin to lift his pig onto the wall to watch the band go by hahahahaha. Cheers :-)
Hi Gary, I wasn't expecting to be impressed with this guitar when the notice came up and I saw what you had for us today....WRONG!!!!! What a brilliant little thing it is. I know you don't do that sort of thing too much but when you rolled the tone knob back a bit on the clean setting to my ears it was like you had switched to the middle position, if there had been one there in the first place. Like this one a lot.
Hi Reeldin :-) I'll confess that it surprised me, too. That little pickup cuts like a knife. Te light weight is brilliant and it feels like a toy which opens up something for you. It's hard to explain but it's like this - I had a monstrously powerful Ducati 916 and a run of the mill Honda CBR600 at the same time. Although the Ducati had way more power, I was actually 'real world' faster on the little Honda. I'll get me coat hahahahaha. Cheers :-)
Hi Chris and thanks :-) I really like these like pocket rockets and I think they're vastly underrated. Of course, when they were new they probably cost the same as a packet fags does these days! Cheers :-)
Lovely intro piece mate. Needs a Rickenbacker accompanying! Being generally clumsy, I'm fascinated by the various shapes. You mentioned there how easy it is to get right up to the top, with that rounded cut away. Why don't they all do something like that to help us ham fisted types? Another thing I was aware of without ever once wondering why. The angled back head - is it purely a cosmetic style thing, or is there some deep rooted theory behind it?
Hi Steve and thanks buddy :-) The headstock break angle exists so that the strings don't pop out of the nut and it eliminates the need for string trees. The majority of guitars do have a cutaway but some are deeper than others. Cheers :-)
Hi, just wondering is this the same guitar that you are selling on eBay? I was wondering what the neck is like. Is it a big old chunky 50s style? Cheers
Hi Paul :-) I honestly don't remember doing a review of a P90 Melody Maker. I did one of a Les Paul Junior with a P90. The blue one had a Seymour in it ....ahh, hang on. There was a Melody Maker with a Stop tail and Tune-o-Matic from around 2010. Did that have a P90? I think it did. Absolutely epic guitar. Cheers, Gary :-)
Sorry Gary No on any Gibsons..this is Epiphones world Now and rightly so..Gibsons are played out and very tiresome..Epiphone all day long for me ..and yes I own a Gibson no I won't sell it but never again would I buy one..
Hi AJ & Cyd :-) I certainly understand your perspective here but I tend to approach these things with an open mind. As you know, you can two identical models and one will be brilliant for you and the other one not so brilliant. I stick to whatever works for me. I've got an old Washburn and a Sunn Mustang that aren't worth $100 together but I can't part with them. Cheers :-)
NOPE, traded my MIM strat for one of these and it easily outplays it. Epiphones always run out the factory with fret issues galore for me. From the satin neck finish with grain feel, to the lightness, to the fact it stays well in tune. I dont think i will need another guitar for years. Truly a phenomenal gibson if you can find it for 600 or less. You cannot find tone like this pickup either, just cuts through all backings like a knife on butter
Going to look at one tomorrow (June 26, 2024). I'll let you know how it goes!

I just bought a 2010 jr! I think it may have been born on the same day! I think it was born in Memphis...

@@FoxysGuitarShow Awesome! Thanks Foxy! Cheers back at ya!!!
A gentleman with fine taste. Great vid mate.
Hi Bigsbee and thanks :-) These little chaps are so liberating and vastly underrated. Proper little pocket rock rocket. Cheers, Gary :-)

My Sister have one of those. Its so easy too play solos on it. Damm i need those warparounds for my gitarre :)))) my gitarre is way too stiff.
Hi UAP :-) I love Melody Makers. Your sister is wise and you're right - they're really easy to play! Cheers, Gary :-)
Great demo again Gary of a no nonsense rocker and the 'weighs the same as a packet of fags' comparison made me chuckle !!

need to try one of these
Proper little pocket rockets, Malko. I bet you’d love one and they’re still reasonably priced mate 😊🤘
@@FoxysGuitarShow just looked them up...not reasonably priced enough!
As an aside, I noticed the last three letters of the URL are 'FXo'... so close!
Hahahaha, hi Neon :-) It's a shame they can't give a chap a relevant URL suffix hahahaha. Cheers :-)
Hi, just wondering is this the same guitar that you are selling on eBay? I was wondering what the neck is like. Is it a big old chunky 50s style? Cheers
Hi Paul :-) Yes it is. It's a slim C. Not as slim as a 60's or Wizard but certainly not a baseball bat. Cheers, Gary :-)
Is your other MM the earlier 2000s model with p90?

Hi 650 TB :-) I really enjoyed this one. Cheers :-)
😎 .......enough said.
Hi there Anthony :-) They don't come any more basic than this. Definitely the embodiment of an amplified canoe paddle hahahahaha. Cheers :-)
