I'm a cradle Catholic. I just came back to the church 2 weeks ago. Have been to reconciliation 3 times. Yesterday i have felt spiritually lighter than i have in over 40 years. Thank you. Your show is helping me find my way back to whete I belong
I turned this on this morning to have in the background while I got ready to start my day. I came back in and said who is that new guy? (and I did not mean Jimmy, I actually recognized him faster than Sheel) My husband grew out his beard when he had his knees replaced, then shaved to go back to work. It was like getting a new husband. Prayers for your families, especially Jen. Hope Fr. Rich is well. Great episode, gonna listen again and make my husband watch.
I am a convert from 1972 & am always happy to learn more about early history concerning our religion. Love your show, ope & pray for Fr Rich & his family, prayers to Ryan, Jen & his family, hope with pray Ryan S. doesn't have wny terrible health problems within his family.
Returning to Catholicism this month. I was raised a Catholic till my late teens and then went generally Christian by attending common neighborhood churches. Went 20 years as a nondementional Christian. Recently started watching "The Chosen". Subscribed to the website and have seen 4 seasons...It doesn't have any focus on what kind of way you should worship as a Christian. To me....the most important thing I have learned is that Catholicism was the church of Christ. The FIRST church. So I want to know how Christ, who wishes us to pray and woship the Lord, promotes worshipping. I see Bible, worship leaders (Popes) and the most important thing we must do ...is the Eucharistic. This is Christ's most importsnt sacrifices for his chosen people. He left his body, blood and soul in bread and wine for his chosen people...administered by sacred priest's in a Holy wafer. Called "communion" ...designated by Christ. So the only way to have Christ live in our body is the communion. Obviously, Communion is distributed by priest's in a Sunday Mass. So...being a Catholic is joining a church that Jesus founded. That is why I have determined being a Catholic is being what Jesus founded....and so I do not wish to be in any other worship experience than a Catholic church.
(This is in jest, as I often have to shave as well), but I do admit to sometimes having a double take when I notice Ryan without his massive beard that I have grown accustomed to associating with him. (Not in jest), I sincerely hope y'all are doing well and continue to have good fruit with your excellent podcast. It's always great to have Jimmy Akin to bolster your historical research into the figures seen in the canonical Gospels.
I hate to say this, because I love Jimmy Akin, but I feel like we needed to hear more from Scheel on this one, as a fellow history buff, I think he had a lot to add and graciously defered to Jimmy.
Reminds me of, Mary of Nazareth, a great adaptation of the gospel, passion, etc... but definitely a look at things the way the writers and directors drove the story wasn't anywhere near correct according to Bible, but still worth watching as to maybe understand better🎉❤

Pilate had no interest in executing Jesus until the Jewish leaders made it clear that if he didn’t his loyalty to Tiberius could be questioned. Read all about it in a book called the Gospel of St. John.
We all killed Jesus. He was the sacrifice for our sins. Everyone's. Except Mary. This man has so much knowledge. This is fascinating. He should have a show on History channel.
NO !!! ...the Jews killed Jesus ... a historical fact for 2000 years right up to 1965 Vatican II ....please STOP spreading guilt to Christians, as if it was confetti....or alternativly go & study history !
Donna, so very true!! I would even include everybody except Mary AND Joseph! Peace always in Jesus Christ our Great and Kind God and Savior, He whose Flesh is true food and Blood true drink!
Do you know about the letters that Pilate send to Tiberius concerning Christ? Pilate describes Christ, saying he had a serene look to him, with golden hair, not tawny like the other men, and so on, you can find it on RUclips. We're always learning no one should be over confident in their knowledge, stay humble!❤
Pontius Pilate killed Jesus as much as the Jews did- they both condemned him to the cross by other's hands. But John softens the culpability of Pilate Food for thought
We are all responsible for killing Jesus through our sins. He died for us individually and collectively. If you were the only person in the world to have sinned, he would’ve still died for you. It’s time to stop putting his crucifixion and death almost entirely on the shoulders of the Jews.
@@CatholicTalkShow I couldnʼt get to watch the show for a couple of months so now I see Mr Scheel he looked like a different man but I recognise his voice. Is he of German descend? His surname sounds exactly like the German word _schielʼ_ which most propably might have been a feature of an ancestor or something I guess. Btw please pray for Germany. If things continue the way they are now, Catholicism will be in a bad place in a couple of decades.
@@CatholicTalkShow I am sorry to hear this. Westphalia (or Westfalen) is the western third of the old Saxon tribe, the other two being Engern (Angria) and Ostfalen (Eastphalia). Out of the three, Westphalia is the only Saxon land that remained Catholic during the Reformation, with most Low Germans (North Germans) being historically Lutheran. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen) which was artificially put together under the British occupation after the Second World War as a means to gerrymander the voting potential of the majorly communist and proletarian industrial Ruhr region, is traditionally Catholic altogether, but most people are too heavily influenced by the atheist working class “culture” and accordingly the total majority of inhabitants are no longer Christian. The state contains some of the most valuable and historically significant sites like Aachen, the de-jure capital city of the German Kingdom, where the royal coronation took place throughout the thousand years of its existence or Köln (Cologne), a self-confident imperial city-state that expelled its own prince-bishop. God bless you, your family and all of yʼall from the Catholic Talk Show. I really enjoy the casual but educational nature of your trio. May you, Mr Scheel, remain strong in your faith and honour your ancestral link to my country, which suffers through its worst cultural conflict since the Fall of Communism a little more than thirty years ago. As a majority of atheist Germans loose all conciousness of faith and culture, the atheist federal government (social democrats and libertarians) thinks about defunding the Church and breaking a 200 year old treaty by withholding millions. Please pray for us, as even in Catholic regions, our churches are only ever-if at all-filled with elderly people on Sundays. Our pastors and priests live in their cars and have little time and resources to build personal relationships with their parishioners. But the worst are our bishops, worst of them my bishop who is the president of the German Episcopal Conference. After it was leaked that Pope Francis used the word fr*ciaggine to make it clear that homosexual men shouldnʼt become seminarians in the first place, I read an interview of Bishop Bätzing in a newspaper. He really seemed to be utterly shocked and disappointed. His choice of words even expressed a certain impatience with Pope Francis. The president of the sadly existing Central Counsel of (Lay) Catholics even made it clear that she and her folks thought that Rome would permit them to accept homosexual practices as equally legitimate acts of love between same-sex couples aswell as female deaconesses or even priests. She was furious that Pope Francis repeatedly rejects the German plans.

Exactly! 👀
Pilate didn't want to have Jesus crucified. The Jews insisted.
Jimmy Awesome Akin!
Scheel was right, Augustus did say, "Give me back my legions!" not "eagles"
Very very informative

I have often thought that without Pilate, would there have been a crucifixion, so was he required as part of Gods plan.

That likely wasn’t written by him but it’s fascinating nonetheless
@@30JLETO it was I have it on a pdf file, you can find this on RUclips
What about the letter from Pilot's wif
The Romans never used legionaries in their own province. They were all shifted to another province
And Augustus did say give me back my legions
Great knot
Is this still live?
as far as I can tell.
God recognised the office

It wasn't Pilate that chose the thief over the Lord. I could name the voters, but RUclips would remove my comment if I did so.
That’s a dubious claim.
