I have known about the missing years of Jesus, for quite a while now,and friends and family don't seem very interested when I tell them that I have more information about him. But most don't really care...... If you love someone wouldn't you want to know as much as you possibly could.... I don't even go to church, but I firmly believe I know him better than most.... The answer to your question is because of their dualstic mental understanding of their own scriptures. Jesus in India challenges the very foundation of their belief in the divine birth, the blood sacrifice of Jesus by crucifixion paying for all sins etc. No acceptance of reincarnation, one life to get it right or suffer eternal consequence. They were not lost just untold. He traveled the world with his uncle Joseph of Arimathea. His uncle owned a fleet of ships that traveled the known world. The brought copper from Michigan, spices from India and goods form many places. Just because it is not in the New Testament doesn't mean he just disappeared for those years. It means the catholic monks left that out when they translated the writings they stole into Latin.
I grew up as a strict Southern Baptist in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. I worked in Saudi Arabia for few years before moving to Thailand. I Practiced Buddhism for 24 years before declaring Jesus Christ as my Savior and my return to God.
Buddhist is better as I was to become a nun but didn't believe the Pope was infallible since deep dive into history of theology became Buddhist. No proof Jesus existed.

You'll always comfortable with the religion you brought up with. Very few ever understand or even bother to read the other prospectives yet judge and make once own decisions. Someone else wrote something many many years after the deaths of a who they belived to be truth. Understanding of surroundings and references would be very deferent to today. When i was a child my mother told me that Jesus had travelled to India and lived in caves of Himalayas n its recorded in some texts. And some of his disciples remained in today's kashmir. There are multiple avatars incarnated on earth currently. A few in America too. Problem is we operate behind the scenes. I’ve heard rumors in the past that Jesus went to India, but never thought of anything of it. Seeing this documentary makes it all clear to me why Jesus went to India what a remarkable story. So I assume that all India’s gods are in tombs and Jesus is it ?

Luke 4:16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, "where he had been brought up" "As was his custom", a custom or tradition is something an individual is following for a long period. There is a slight problem with that phrase - ' I Am ...' .- it's not there in the earliest copies of the Gospel. Having said that I do believe that to stain God Realization then you do have to imitate the life of Christ , or other genuinely Self Realized Sages eg Sri Ramana Maharshi. So from the point of view of rigid Churchianity This phrase ' I Am .....' is used as a tool for factionalism . It couldn't be a documentary because with the exception of the written account of Jesus said to have actually been in Tibet, which is hidden away in a buddhist monastery in Tibet, there is no documented proof of Jesus ever having travelled to India and beyond.

"As was his custom", a custom or tradition is something an individual is following for a long period. That means he was reading in synagogue since his brought up years.

Jesus was a drunk, he wanted to be remembered drinking wine as he said it is his blood. When drunk he goes on to talk about love and that he is the son of god. Drunks say illogical, self-centered things then and now.
There is a slight problem with that phrase - ' I Am ...' .- it's not there in the earliest copies of the Gospel.
Having said that I do believe that to stain God Realization then you do have to imitate the life of Christ , or other genuinely Self Realized Sages eg Sri Ramana Maharshi.
So from the point of view of rigid Churchianity This phrase ' I Am .....' is used as a tool for factionalism . In truth it is a call to universalism - that is the way to Truth is by treading in the footsteps of Enlightened Sages ( of whatever traditions).🙏✝️🕉️
