The primary arms SLx compact was an amazing gift from the gun gods for people with bad astigmatisms. They don’t have shake awake but have pretty long battery life. I hope other brands start making similar options
Edit: didn’t know they came out with a new cyclops with shake awake, I bought the slx 1x prism, not the cyclops gen ll

I got one of these for my akv 9 pcc and I love it over my red dot. The main take away is they’ve been rugged for me, the etched reticle is brilliant in the event you lose battery or electronics. The eye relief is great for a prism as stated. I have had a red dot fail and yes it was an aim point no I don’t usually use cheaper optics lol

I’ve always wanted to try the trijicon ta44 but can’t justify the price compared to what else is available. This optic appears to be a much better option at a much better price. Sure it might not be as durable as the famed acogs but I’m not “trapezing thru the trees” as much as I used to and let’s not forget about the wonders of the ACSS! Thanks for the review!

I googled it. I'm also a double Z List RUclipsr and I had a video I filmed where I planned to throw up an image then wasn't able to produce the image/clip later. GT doing this made me feel better about my own production quality.

If a red dot battery dies, you essentially have a very large ghost ring rear sight. You are never out of the fight!

Good review. I pulled the trigger on one yesterday. I've had great results from PA branded products in the last 6 - 8 years. They just keep putting out better stuff. If the optic is as pleasant as the Vulcan 507 Holosun on my Staccato P, it'll be a home run👍

Finding the red dot 🔅🔆 very hard to work with. Etched reticle is definitely easier. Astigmatism is severe. Never realized it until I got a red dot.
@@warrenharrison9490 yeah, I can relate. I love the Vortex Spitfire. It's crystal clear for me. I bought it without knowing about the star effect on red dots being attributed to astigmatism. I just thought that's how red dots were. When I saw the reticle on the spitfire I was amazed and immediately bought one. I later found out about the star effect on red dots.

With a 1MOA click you are at most 0.5 MOA off your target, which comes to 1.5" off at 300 yards, for a 1x optics, will this matter? You be the judge...

The Russians have been using this concept for quite some time with the 1P76 Rakurs, or the Belorussian PK-AS. Red dots are great, but but you can't really rely on batteries when it's freezing balls out there.
Can this optic be used with a magnifier?

@@lordhades9455 I have the Vortex Spitfire 1x on a carbine now. Not daylight bright, no ranging, and big and heavy. But it was $170 and it works well. This new PA optic will likely replace it on my main carbine.
@@jimvac77 Got to finger bang one of these over the weekend. Keep your Spitfire. The reticle is useless. Mine as well be just a solid dot. I've got 20/20 vision and not a chance will I be able to range with that chevron. For a 1x the Spitfire reticle is much better. And the PA weighs almost as much IIRC.
Eotech is going to be better overall, 1x prisms are meh
I am fairly new to this channel, and I very much love (LOVE) the "Carl Sagan-esque" way that you articulate your commentary on tools, techniques and reviews. Well done! (Yes I may have dated myself there, but very good none the less!)
I still have my old Trijicon Armson red dot designed for the carry handle on my issue CAR15 but adapters are available . No CAR15 anymore in the UK . No batteries needed day or night and was lucky to get a service before Trijicon welched on their lifetime warranty on these things .
Especially when you have astigmatism, holo and prism sights are your best bet. Even with perfect eye sight you can still have astigmatism. With astigmatism a red dot from a red dot optic like aimpoint can look like a starburst, grapes or a faded line.
So far I have been really happy with prism sights and holo sights
Never knew I had astigmatism until I got my first red dot. Sucked to find out that way but made me move up to better optics sooner

At the price everything else is better than vortex. Aimpoint, eotech, Leopold, primary arms. And if I'm gonna spend over 1000 It'll be a NF or trijicon, just my opinion.
Put this optic on my 11.5 Aero build…it is absolutely amazing. Added the micro magnifier to it as well. That little set up is a nail driver when the guy behind the trigger is doing his job!

I was thinking about one of these to use on my 11.5" AR pistol builds. Ultimately I haven't gotten past how much I like my Leupold Delta Point Pro and Sig Sauer Romeo 5 OPMODs with both the 65 MOA circle and 2 MOA dot. I was looking for something cheaper than EOTech or Aimpoint with these three.

I love my SPITFIRE AR PRISM SCOPE for clarity due to my old eyes. It’s also got a etched reticle and some basic BDC holdover rings that are red/green switchable which is a added plus.

Sold mine for this one. I've had that optic for a long time too. But I actually say this would be an upgrade from that. Auto on/off & shake to wake pretty much is a big plus over the Vortex
Probably a great option for those of us with terrible stig. My 2 moa dots looks like 6 moa balls off fluff and that’s with Corneal reshaping surgery.
I’ve been waiting for this review! I’d like to see the 3x micro. I want to know how it is with some magnification.
The micro Prism wins size-wise over my Vortex Spitfire AR, however I've never and probably will never be a fan of the reticle. I prefer the full circle with a dot inside that the spitfire has. I love prisms for exactly the reasons you discussed. No batteries needed and the posibility (on some) to adjust your eyes to them makes them so natural to shoot.

I thought that flashlight was the muzzle device at first
1-MOA at 50-yards is 1/2", which I think is plenty for a 1x optic; if you need it more precise, bring the target back to 25-yards where 1-MOA is 1/4" and then offset for your bullet rise.

Rewatching this cause this video introduced me to my favorite sight ever. Doesn’t have the light bloom for me like red dots and you can leave this thing on and it don’t matter ( I leave mine on for months and I change the batteries when I change all my other firearms).

Went through SFARTAETC with an Eotech, served with an eotech for almost a decade. Staying with eotech battery problems or not, in a cqb situation that donut of death is my best friend.
Only a switched on tier-one operator would be able to recognize that the kid was the real threat on that target. Respect.

I think the first gen SLX looks better but the compact form factor leaving more room for a magnifier is a huge plus.
My minor astigmatism has had me on the hunt for an etched reticle optic just like this. Kinda wringing my hands on if I should get one ASAP or hold out for a half MOA adjustment model. Also, any chance these will be in FDE? I’m not sure PA does any FDE optics..
