Thank you for your video. We are planning on going to Sardinia in September. First week. We have chosen to stay North. In your opinion, would this be the ideal town to base ourselves at? Or do you have other recommendations.?

I would stay in Alghero old town as a base but also have a night or two in Cala Gonone. Alghero old town is simply amazing. Expect distances. Rental car is a must in Sardinia for the full experience. Depending on how long time you stay devide the stay with a few days here and a few days in other places. Another great area could be San Teodoro. San Teodoro has Cala Brandinchi beach. Cala Gonone has alot of excurtions to small beaches only reachable via boat. Also check out availibility to visit La Pelosa. If you go to Sardinia north for let’s say 10 days devide the stays 4 days San Teodoro. 2 days Cala Gonone and 4 days Alghero old town. …or something like that. beaches are sometimes only availible to book. and expect to go by car. Its nice to stay in some twons but its not always that town has all the beaches you want.

Cala Gonone is a bit far from everything. But you have many motorboat excurtions from this town to small but amazing beaches. We always use Lampu motorboat rental with a driver. There are also nice places around for agriturismo dining (google it, it’s a must).
Hi how are you ? Was wondering if you can help. Can’t decide between Orosei area or Cala Gonone. We would have a car. Looks like all the nice beaches in Cala Gonone are by boat which is fine but wouldn’t want to do that everyday. Are there other nice beaches you can drive to for other days ? Thanks
The best beaches are in northern Sardinia. See San Teodoro area. Cala Gonone is a grea place for a boat trip over the day.
