You're either a very young-looking middle-aged guy - or you're a young guy who speaks very maturely. And that's coming from a 45 year old. The way you convey information (including the part about kids chasing after balls) shows a lot of maturity for someone who looks about 26 to 28!
I've been viewing countless of videos for backup cameras and the part where you wired both the reverse red wire for power to camera and the black for ground was an excellent presentation and that explains why I was having trouble with my backup camera! I am getting my replacement parts next week and will be redoing my project next week!

Great video, clear and concise! Have you experienced the screen switching to the front cam while reversing? Mine will show the rear cam then switch to the front for 1 sec and then show the rear cam like it’s supposed to.

1. If you want to have the backup camera recording, you can download the firmware from the link below.

2. If your M6 screen blanks out while the car is in reverse. The link below is the firmware to fix the problem. The main reason to cause the issue is that "Screen Saver" makes the screen blank out.

Steps to update：
1.Copy the file XXX.bin to the TF card.
2.Insert the TF card to the device, then connect the device to the power supply. Then the device would turn on automatically and start to update.
3.When the screen shows 100% and finsh the update, plug out the TF card and disconnect the power supply directly, then turn off the device.
4.Turn on the device again, insert the TF card, enter the menu and format the TF card again before using.
(Please note: If you insert the TF card before turning on the device, it will automatically update again)

great video.. I'm getting one of these models just not sure which one.. The one with the transmitters seems easier to install. with no wires running front to back..

I noticed that too, as I have a truck I’m trying to do an install and was confused for a second, thinking this car is a sedan not a truck, oh how I would like to see an install for a truck with a cap, that’s my dilemma

It's easy, front mirror is just for display, rear cam start active when your gear box in reverse mode because cam power connected to rear reverse light then send video to front mirror. all you have to do is just hide all long run cable front to rear end camera.

I installed one of these rear view mirror mounted dash cams before and it reduced the distance of my key fob. I pretty much had to be in arms length of my car door for it to work. Mine was from a different manufacturer but i'm curious if you're experiencing the same issue with this one?

Great video! Are you able to swap this between cars? I drive rental cars half of the year and would like to use it in multiple vehicles. Not necessary for the rear camera, but the front camera would be great!
Matthew Davidson these cables are standard for other models but make sure your cables are mini USB 5v power and 3.5 video cable.
I have watched you for years, from installing flat panel TV mounts on different type wall supports to now backup cameras. Your videos are excellent. Can you provide the name of a backup camera that is powered only by your Android phone? I'd like to attach a camera to my bike and using my phone mounted on the front handlebars, be able to see who is behind me.

Tampatec My hardwire kit has an unexpected yellow wire.
Should i use the yellow wire aswell as the red. I have cheap mirror style dash cam ?
I think you need to put a rubber grommet to the area where you drilled to protect the wire from getting short circuit to the ground/car body. Be generous placing zip ties from the unit all the way to the back, making sure the wire does not touch the body/ground, especially during summer. The insulation of the wire may not be able to stand the chassis heat, and might cause some short if the wire insulation melted.
very good video, very simple the only thing that did not understand much was, the connection from the rear camara to the backing light
jean carlos that's optional if you want reverse lights to trigger back cam but, you can put mirror in dual video mode and view both cams at the same time without connecting to reverse lights.

It looks as if you used a splice connector for both the red and black wire. I tried that and the back up camera didn't work at all. Some are telling me to ground the wire by drilling a hole into a random area of sheet metal and use a sheet metal screw. Any thoughts?

This is a good video especially w the splicing proccess but forget going to a carwash. Byebye cam. Ive had mine stop working after. It was a slightly diff model of the Autovox w no hardwiring.
Great video. Hello from Brandon Florida. Good to know that you are near by in case I screw this up! LOL We installed the same system. We hooked the red to the red positive on the reverse light bulb and the red with the black line to the black negative on the reverse bulb. The rear camera display only comes on in park and after you play with the poeer button. When shifted into reverse, the rear camera feed turns off. We triple checked everything and it's hooked up right but doesn't work correctly. We are using the cig lighter to power it not the acc wire kit. What do you think is going on?
