How about installing an "O" ring on the hole you drilled, as well as some silicone caulk?

What size are the splices?
My car already has a back up camera too but I don’t want to do anything to it. I just want to add a rear view camera to record. Will this affect my current back up camera? Do I HAVE to rewire anything?
I have a wireless 12v backupcam(I know not the best but got it for free). I was wondering if I could splice it into a trailer plug that has back up lights and ground. I checked the voltage and am pretty sure it is 14v. I went to some forums about using a 12v cam on 14v and some said that there is a range these devices use because the power isn't always so clean.
PS: thanks for your repair videos on tvs. I was able to change out some blown caps and get my tv working.
yes, there's a range 12v to 14v, just connect to reverse lights and ground to trailer chassis.

That makes sense. It would be cool to record both at the same time and somehow be able to have the backup enable when you reverse as well.
i updated firmware today and thats exactly what happens... driving forward you basically have full screen but a 1/4 screen upper right has the rear cam, you can change that too, anyway put it in reverse and its all back up cam

where would you place the rear camera in a suv with the back door opening to the side and having the spare tire on the back, as the ecosport for example? i am about to install one but can't figure out the better placement for the rear camera, thanks

Yes you can add it to any accseorry power and it will stay powered. Look for hard wiring tutorials

Yes it comes with the kit but twist wire nuts and solder with heat tubes works too.

Easiest part was running the video line front to back. Tapped in to rear backing light and no go for me . Bummer. Might go back to easy install of a 8 track radio. 👍

Just a question regarding a Toyota Mark x 2005. I don't think this vehicle is in the states, maybe
Basically I've wired up an aftermarket reverse camera to the factory display because the factory camera was bad.
Now the picture is all jumpy and not clear at all.
Do you know of any reason why it could do this? Maybe different voltages or that NTSC Pal thing. I don't know to well

Thanks for your video. One quick question ? I just saw that you connect rear camera to backup light, using 12 V to trigger rear camera. But only one connector, how do you route and send the rear camera video back to your screen in the driver seat. Really thanks.

How did you wire in the front?
Yellow RCA into head units video input. Red wire coming off it connect to reverse wire from head unit.

Question! I currently have a wireless camera set up, I installed it to the reserve light and ground. I am thinking of switching it to a wired connection. Is it a problem removing the existing splicers? When you remove the existing splicers, does it cut off the existing wiring of the lightbulb and ground or should it be okay?
