Boston Dynamics has done a tremendous job warming up the general public to accept autonomous robots. But they have also set a very high bar of expectations for capability, both in raw function and sophisticated interaction with their environment. I'm excited to see what this company comes up with!
The vast majority of robots made to actually replace human jobs will never need to run or backflip like atlas Boston Dynamics also used hydraulics for it’s Atlas bot. Which is incredibly expensive and cost prohibitive Lastly, Boston dynamic robots are comparatively “dumb” next to these new gen purpose bots in development. They need to be programmed manually to do anything These bots are meant to work independently in human made environments doing human jobs. That means they need an intelligent AI (probably an ANN) to run its decision making and a sensor suite to see and interact with its surroundings with a rich catalogue of saved objects in its memory so it knows what it’s looking at Boston dynamics makes cool videos, and the their robots have excellent body control movements that were slowly trained, but you won’t see a group of atlas bots doing anything out on the street or being a home butler
@@vannan6844 another BIG problem of hydraulics is maintenance too , something that moves using hydraulics is awful to maintain , that is the reason why the US military ditched any further attempt of making a hydraulic quadruped mobile plataform simply because these things require lots of maintenance to run properly , Atlas using hydraulics means that it would require awful amounts of maintenance and you can see that in some of the videos of Boston Dynamics , and when you use a robot you want to have one that won't require any kind of maintenance every 30 minutes

Been watching you for a year and whilst I just wanted this company around for the prototypes and to understand a different perspective or skillsets in building humanoid robots, I wonder with the progress that has been made over the last year if the company will falter or actually be able pull through with half of its deliverables and objectives propose. If this company ends up being acquired or merged with another competitor or it becomes a relative success and still able to stand on its own two feet for years down the road that's a win in my book. Why there is no prototype? I am not saying this is fraud or anything but it is easy to build a prototype now. Tesla built its prototype in less than a year. Humanoid robots have great future.

It’s great to see sexy ad, but that says more about a great marketing company. If it’s more about a robot, I’d prefer to see practical, intuitive operation and function. I don’t understand why Tesla, well I know why Tesla does because they announce something 5 years out for their investors on Wall Street. But everyone doesn’t need to flow the same way!
Where are the robots? To have a good idea of the product (its look and fell, like that one given by Boston Dynamics presentations) we need to see an operational robot doing ordinary tasks. So far, we only got promises and CGI videos. In short: "vapourware". That's a bad start, man! :(

Nobody is talking about the cost to purchase and repair one. A complex machine like that will undoubtedly need costly repairs. Unlike people, robots can't heal themselves
'Reduce unsafe work and menial work'. Unsafe and menial are subjective words. It is more dangerous to not have work than it is to have dangerous work. Most people probably want to keep their jobs if they are menial. Mental health should be the only focus of AI. Rebuild lives by rebuilding the brain. Turn psychopaths and sociopaths into happy functioning people rather than just take away their means of survival
Only $70m? I anyone want to take bets on how long it will be before Figure has to close doors? Considering that tesla's robot is called "optimus", this one should've been called "megatron".
They probably would have gotten sued

That’s not how infringement works. Wouldn’t have gotten sued unless Tesla copyrighted that for a robot already.

This dude would be at a home at a Daft Punk concert.
today Wednesday March 13, 2024 Figure 1 showed us a small demonstration and it was totally awesome. Bring on the robots I’m here for it.

This company reminds me of Rivian because they saw a Tesla and Elon Musk product and are trying to produce an almost identical product.
Who better? Sophia the legend, Ameca the Genius, Optimus, and Figure o
Did I see a ballscrew? I saw a ballscrew, in a robot! I guess the compliant part is non existent.
Are they going to place biological flesh on top of a metallic skeleton?
Or are they going to grow entirely synthetic bodies for these things?
We'll see. I think it's worth watching. Whether it is time is another question.
It's Beautiful. We need help with our robot project.
