Love this guy! He got better and better and funnier and funnier the longer he lived! There were time during this show I just roared. Roared I tell you!. He was a comedic genius.
Why do we love Don Rickles? He was the greatest quick wit that improvised jokes in the moment (never used a script) and because his insults were perceptive quips only intended for people who needed it...and it took a lot of chutzpah and bravery to do what he did..... the greatest comic genius and very good hearted man underneath the facade.

I saw Don Rickles at the Latin Casino in 1975 and again in 1995 in Las Vegas at the Golden Nugget and watching Don again here on video from 2010. I gotta tell ya, he’s been doing the same act and the same exact show for the last 50 years. Toward the end of his career, the curtain would open, and Don would be doing his act in a wheelchair. He sings, I’m a nice guy! And tells the same old jokes and midway through the show, he does his James Cagney routine with Yankee Doodle Dandy. If you have to ask who Jimmy Cagney is, look it up on Wikipedia! Yes, it’s the same old act, but people go to see Don cause they love his act. I haven’t seen his act in years but it’s the same act. Don is Jewish and puts a lot of Yiddish humor in his show. You youngsters gotta remember, when Don hit the scene, this type comedy was funny. Today, it’s outdated, just like W.C. Fields humor was outdated when I was a kid in the 70’s. Don uses the same str8 man in his act too. Along with the same black guy who is his sidekick during the mid portion of the show. This humor was hilarious in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s valid for historical reasons. Off stage, Don was the warmest, nicest guy. Nothing like his stage persona. Don and his wife were very close friends with Bob Newhart and his wife. They went on vacations together. During the 70’s, Don was a big hit on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He was part of my generation and he was a really true nice man. I miss Don very much. RIP dear sweet man! You made people laugh at themselves and you were much loved. ❤

🌟 HERE At 84 years old... He was filled with as much energy and vitality as a man of 30.. Non Stop comedy and quick wit were his hallmarks. *(One note : I do not think they should have CENSORED his more adult words regardless of what they were. A PG-13 rating can handle any controversial words and it only is funnier because a grumpy old man is saying them)*
