Great List but Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven (1992) and Fargo (1996) are an unfortunate omissions. I'd easily swap out Election & Mrs. Doubtfire (which I really like) for them.
Especially true for Fargo. The narration appeared to indicate that they had to choose one Coen movie - why, though? Lebowski and Fargo are both great (and I'd argue Fargo is a bit better given it's more decorated and spun off a great TV show decades later) - why choose?
@@zedlavb Exactly. Fargo & The Big Lebowski are two of the Coen brothers very best and I see no reason why they couldn't have just included them. Both absolutely deserve to be on the list.
There were lots of great movies from the 90's. From the matrix, die hard 2, heat, a Bronx tale, Shawshank redemption, the green mile, Forrest Gump to good will hunting, the truman show and Mrs doubtfire. There wasn't a shortage of greatness.
The long kiss GoodNight should’ve gotten at least an honourable mention. I know it’s not an overly popular movie nor does it have a cult following but it’s an unapologetic, well written yet simple full-blown 90’s action movie. The audience cares about the characters and almost every interaction between the leads is highly entertaining. Samuel L. Jackson and Geena Davis were both at the top of their game in this. It’s even one of Jackson‘s favourites.
Others I can think of that are among the greatest films of the 90’s: -Unforgiven(1992) -Usual Suspects(1995) -The Green Mile(1999) -Dances With Wolves(1990) -Sleepless In Seattle(1993) -A River Runs Through It(1992) -Virgin Suicides(1999) -The Player(1992) -Philadelphia(1993) -The Game(1997) -Notting Hill(1999) -You Got Mail(1998) -The Insider(1999) -Red Rock West(1993) -Primal Fear(1996) -Thelma And Louise(1991) -Legends Of The Fall(1994) -Time To Kill(1996)
True Romance, American History X, Donnie Darko, American Psycho, The Virgin Suicides, Trainspotting...they just don't make em like they did in the 90s anymore
Malcolm X was quite wrong about slavery and Islam. It was the Muslims that enslaved African men, sold them to Europeans, and raped their African wives. To this day, Islam is the world's leading practitioner of slavery, as the religion/culture/system of law/ideology always has been.
My favorites: 1- Terminator 2 2- The Matrix 3- Star Wars ep1 4 - Jurassic Park 5- The Lion king 6- Independece Day 7- The Rock 8- Shawshank Redemption 9- The Green Mile 10- Saving private Ryan
I think Trainspotting does not get talked about enough when it comes to great 90s movies. One of the truest depictions of the drug world, and a great mix of comedy and drama.
No Reservoir Dogs, The Green Mile, The Usual Suspects, Primal Fear, Philadelphia, American History X, Casino, Unforgiven, Fargo??? I would've definitely swapped some out to take any one of these movies.
@renovandermade2051 You can't put everything in, and American History X it might be not as notable as others, and they put an Edward Norton film on there, like with a few Tom Hanks films. They also put in three Steven Spielberg films, one Frank Darabont film, one Quentin Tarantino film, and two James Cameron films, so this is why, from my guess they didn't put in Reservoir Dogs and The Green Mile as well.
I turned the video off as soon as they listed that stupid Reese Witherspoon movie, Election. Why is that on the list?! Who the hell is making the list? Fire that person.
Forrest Gump at 15 is wild IMO. It's not even my favorite movie, but I can acknowledge that it's easily one of the most iconic movies in the history of cinema, not just the 90's. The perfect combination of action, drama and comedy. The most quotable movie of all time. The only thing that keeps it from being the perfect movie IMO is the scene where Forrest wipes his muddy face on a T-Shirt and it's the perfect smiley face from the T-Shirts. If you want to leave it off #1 for that reason alone okay, but 15?
@clarkness77 The Shining, Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Natural Born Killers round out my top 4. That's favorites, not necessarily the best movies.
When it comes to 90s movies, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2 Judgement Day, Men in Black, Rush Hour, Last Action Hero, Demolition Man, Jingle All the Way, Home Alone 1 and 2, Batman Returns, the Fugitive, the Matrix, Broken Arrow, Toy Story, Mousehunt, Tremors, Tremors 2 Aftershocks, and some of the Godzilla movies from the 90s, including Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2, Godzilla vs Destroyah, and yes, even Godzilla 1998 are some of the best movies from the 90s that I have ever watched. Truly one of the best eras for movies.
So many iconic movies! Legendary! The Fugitive,Scream,Mrs Doubrfire,Fight Club,Seven,Silence of the Lambs,Sixth Sense,I rememember watching with dad,Jurassic Park,Terminator 2,Titanic. Love them! I wouldn't choose Pulp Fiction as number 1. Jurassic Park,T2,possibly. Rebecca great narration! :D Hasta la vista baby!😀(not to you😊)
There are waaaaayyyyyyyyyy too many to list that are missing. But I get it it's impossible to list them all in a top 30. I can name at least 50 more who should be considered.

Unforgiven, Fargo, Dances With Wolves, Reservoir Dogs, Home Alone, A Simple Plan, Golden Eye, A Time To Kill, Ghost, and The Usual Suspects should have made the cut.
I'm so glad am I 90s kid and we have some awesome and great movies. Jurassic Park, The Lost World Park, T2 Judgment Day, Shawshank Redemption, Toy Story, Forrest Gump, Back To The Future, and many more. The 90s are awesome man.
When you do a Top 30 2000s movies list, you must include Revenge of the Sith, one of the Harry Potter movies, and one of the Sam Ramai Spider-Man movies (probably Spidey 2).
The 1990's have been my favorite decade of films in my lifetime, with the 1970's not far behind. WatchMojo could make Another Top 30 Best Movies of the 90's from all the films that were excluded from this list.
Don't agree about the number one at all. For me, the greatest 90's movie is Schindler's List. Incredibly powerful and hard to watch, brilliantly written and directed, and an outstanding cast. It's one of my favourite films of all-time and is Spielberg's greatest work.
Malcolm X was quite wrong about slavery and Islam. It was the Muslims that enslaved African men, sold them to Europeans, and raped their African wives.
Most of the movies you listed are very good but there are a few I watch over and over. L.A. Confidential, Malcolm X, Boogie Nights, Fargo, Scindler's List, Shawshank and Good Fellas. I also like Casino. I'm the oddball granny that likes gangster movies.
@TwistedSpirakX I like The Crow, but I think it's a cult classic, which is why it wasn't added in, I think. Home Alone is a notable 90's film since it was a bonanza, but again, they can't put everything in.
this list should be called top 30 American films. there were so many non-American films that were great such as: Blue, Red, Chungking Express, Beau Travail, Trainspotting, The Sweet Hereafter…
Great great movies there but I was totally in shock that there weren't The Green Mile or American Beauty! JFK and American History X could have featured as well.
Watch mojo you forgot KIDS, The hand that rocks the cradle, Jungle Fever, Friday, Candyman, Enemy of the State, Waiting to Exhale, How Stella got her groove back, and Speed.
I'm sorry but I've met more people who've seen Goodfellas over Pulp Fiction, don't get me wrong, I love Pulp but Goodfellas is way more popular and a lot more quotable, IMO
1. Titanic 2. Pulp Fiction 3. Goodfellas 4. LA Confidential 5. Schindler's List 6. The Silence of the Lambs 7. The Shawshank Redemption 8. American Beauty 9. Fargo 10. Jurassic Park 11. THE GREEN MILE!!! How is that not on the list?

American History X is missing big time from this list.

Yup., 1999 is the best year in the history of cinema.
Cider house rules is so underrated. It really tugs on the heart strings.
Great List but Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven (1992) and Fargo (1996) are an unfortunate omissions.
I'd easily swap out Election & Mrs. Doubtfire (which I really like) for them.
I would also add a movie like Home Alone who is arguably the best family movie of all-time.

Fargo and Unforgiven were really boring imo.
I was a little kid in the 90s and it blows my mind we were blessed wit Robin Williams AND Jim Carrey on our screens ❤
Pulp Fiction, Terminator 2 Judgment Day, The Matrix, Reservoir Dogs, Rush Hour, Casino, Goodfellas, many more 🔥
I’ve definitely seen Judgement Day the most out of all of these. It’s so damn rewatchable!😅
Yes.....13 more to be exact
The Matrix is the best film ever imo. The Usual Suspects is also one of the all time greats.
Tarantino definitely deserved a spot.

Braveheart is so slept on its crazy

Agree .. I needed to check when Requiem for a Dream was shot (2000 so they wouldn't consider) as I missed that one on the list
The Matrix is #1 for me, but yeah, that was the best decade for movies, with 1999 taking the top spot in the history of cinema.

Ahhhh the 90’s when cinema was original and excellent. I was teen during the 90’s we were blessed.
Out of all of these movies, T2 is the one I've seen the most times 🤩 Some of these (like Schindler's List) are great movies but are hard to rewatch...
When you do a Top 30 2000s movies list, you must include Revenge of the Sith, one of the Harry Potter movies, and one of the Sam Ramai Spider-Man movies (probably Spidey 2).
I'd predict that list to come down to either LOTR, Potter, Gladiator or Avatar....
I have Moneyball at #1
