People say that but Ob Nixilis, Nissa, Narset. Overall the set was generically good and seemingly made for mid/high power edh. And tbf that new niv isn't seen, heard or talked about in cedh so it's easy to understand why they forgot it existed.
It's worth noting that murders at karlov Manor, while set on ravnica, is not a guild set. So while we'll be getting cool new cards for returning characters, it's going to have a normal amount of multicolored cards rather than the ravnica standard of a bunch
I'm stoked for Duskmourn. I love contained worlds and settings. Some of my favorite horror/thriller movies are the ones that take place at one location or even a single room. The idea of a plane entirely contained within a house of horrors creates a cool sense of claustrophobia that hopefully translates to flavorful card design. And I think this will likely line up with the Halloween season. My guess is Bloomburrow will be the "safe" set where the power level is pulled back and Duskmourn will be pushed to high heavens.
I haven't seen or heard of bloodpod showing up in tournaments for awhile, but Dylan has referenced it a lot lately. Would love to see an updated version on the show sometime soon :)
I know you guys said you don't like to read, but the "Redwall" book series by Brian Jacques is what the Bloomburrow set seems like it will be to me. Looking forward to all the episodes in 2024! Happy New Year guys!
My biggest hope for Bloomburrow is that it's a three color set (potentially completing the cycle with Thunder Junction if it's also 3 colors) and that Otters get to be the Temur rep so I can play otter tribal
Didnt go through every comment, but i scrolled for a minute and saw ZERO people bring up the article “The Seedborn Muse Question-How Good is Too Good in cEDH?” By Sam Black. With the premise of ‘okay. Seedborn Muse is good, game winningly good. But that means people are going to learn how to play against it, so what does that look like & how should I adapt to those people’s adaptations?’, it’s a good read.
Oko has a chance to be desparked as a commander. The only time he showed up in lore is when Kellan revealed that Oko is his dad. So we don't know his status otherwise at the moment.
my cat stepped on my laptop while I was out of the room and set the play speed to .75 and I was really concerned because Dylan and Cam both sounded absolutely wasted and it took me a solid 5 minutes to figure it out.
Instead of Crew what if the keyword was “Mount” and it is a different flavor of crew where the creature could hop on and off of another creature for bonuses to the creature being mounted - it still taps the creature like crew. One example idea for how this could work is a 2/2 horse with mount 2 and trample. “While this creature is mounted, gain +2/+2 and first strike”. And it’s similar to crew where you give up a creature for the turn to give additional effects for that creature but only 1 creature can mount.
I already had a deck running Hushbringer and am adding this in as well. The only changes it's requiring is removing Portable Hole and switching Semblance Anvil out for Cloudkey. Excited to wreck some docksides
When they were talking about the horses and being crewed, it made me think of Sylvia Brightspear and Khorvath Brightflame. So maybe just a partner commander, I imagine.
For iOS users there is a way they can make a website into an app icon. When clicked it still just opens the webpage in whatever browser you use but iOS can have a janky app for it too!
just one thing abhout stern scolding it stops the etbs e.g. dockside, bowmasters and so on also for effects like esper you stop them with out giving them a card
Dylan's "uh oh.. is that furry stuff..?" at ~ 36:53 is hilarious. I can't tell whether he's saying it in a "oh hell nah" tone or more of a "oh hell yea" tone :DD
Hold on, are you guys telling me that opponents would actually pick "bribery" for Tivit? And not have a plan to steal the tokens? That's wild. I assumed opponents always picked "evidence" since it's a space waster on your field. But I'm excited for 2024. I think the Fallout stuff will definitely get some play, but not replace much of anything. And I also think we'll see a gradual, if not compete, stop to treasure producing spells outside of Pirates.
I'm fully expecting more bikes instead of horses in Thunder Junction. A return to Desert's could be quite cool. If we got more desert support a bit like snow could Hazezon, Shaper of Sand see CEDH play?
Assassin's Creed also had a race of "God like" people who exist in equipment now. We could see a return to "flip equipment" like Dowsing Dagger from Ixalan.
It's from the whole series actually. The "pieces of Eden" were used in a variety of manners and perplexed humans as the technology to invent them was of a lost civilization that ruled over humanity. It's what the Templars seek the entire time so they may wield god-like power and why Assassins oppose them. @@PlaytoWinMTG
For Duskmourn I was also thinking along the lines of Friday the 13th, texas chainsaw massacre, etc. Looking at the preview poster I'm also thinking along the lines of Clive barkers hellraiser and Stephen King books like the mist
Stern scolding hasn’t disappointed me yet. The “it doesn’t counter ad naus” doesn’t hold up, I cut Deadly Rollick for it. That doesn’t counter Naus either, but Scolding hits Abolisher.
Realistically, horses would have reconfigure, which may not fit flavorwise, but would make sense mechanically. So probably a renamed version of reconfigure.
For duskmourne (also extremely hyped) on the "girl tripping" thing idc if it's main set or secret lair for Jason or what, but I'ma need tragic slip as a reprint w that art if not a new card (could be kill spell or counterspell)
On the topic of other plains discovering gunpowder and advancing technology. To go with Cam's comment about tanks, Rocket Launcher is already a card...
Heyo. Potentially really dumb question. I’m part of the PTW’s Patreon but I’m only using the app version. How do I get access to the discord? Would appreciate any info, thanks!
There are quite a few MK characters that utilize firearms. Cassie Cage, Sonya Cage and Erron Black (this guy is about as cowboy as you get). That's not including the crossover characters they've had in the last few games.
Some spicy tech that I've been running for the Rhystic Study meta in my Talion deck is Steal Enchantment. Feels really good having 2 Rhystic Studies in play along with Talion and potentially a Sakashima clone. Also lets you nab Necropotence!
I’m telling y’all you have GOT to try liesa shroud of dusk as a Cedh stax deck. It is some of the best life total pressuring out there and unlike winota IS black so you get sheoldred and bowmasters, plus you can run the vito+exquisite blood combo and your commander is never going to cost more than 5
You guys should do a react to this video! Not sure why but this was bumped to my feed and watching this now "jumping on the roof"😅 yall called the Saddle mechanic too nioce
I'm hoping WotC prints some kind of modal stax cards in 2024, it would really help if I could get the kind of stax I need without always having to tutor for that silver bullet and could just pick a mode of some kind as the stax piece comes in.
I'll be showing what Ob Nix can do at Mox Masters next weekend 😈, I still don't think its as good as Kinnan, but time to play a different two color deck
Im not sure im understanding the mothman infinite through food chain. Saccing mothman gives you 5 mana but each time you recast but it always gonna cost 1 more to recast so where is this extra mana coming from?
I think serra Ascendant is exceptional. 1 mana bug dumb that demands removal. It's a great Lightning rod for removal and not a big deal to lose. I gained 6-18 life and baited removal. Win win win
Oh wow just realised that obeka counters the mothman win. Just end the turn in the upkeep before your precombat main phase and then watch the mothman player die. Would make that matchup pretty interesting.
Top down - lore and flavor first then they back into mechanics to support the lore and flavor Bottom up - mechanics first then they rationalize the flavor to support the mechanics
Forgetting that Niv Mizzet got a new printing in Aftermath, that set had so many almost interesting cards its a shame its basically been forgotten
People say that but Ob Nixilis, Nissa, Narset. Overall the set was generically good and seemingly made for mid/high power edh. And tbf that new niv isn't seen, heard or talked about in cedh so it's easy to understand why they forgot it existed.
Reckless handling is a secret banger of a card too, being another tutor in red
@voidprism_studios666 I loved the set personally, well, the cards in it at least. I run Samut in my Najeela list for cEDH.
@@davidew345agreed.
As an English person hearing Cam say ‘Worcestershire’ brought me such joy 😂
The intro made me think of alternate names for "segments" and I really like the idea of calling em "phases" on a Magic channel!
@PlayToWinMTG damn that’s actually a good idea, take this man’s advice
Same!
I will ABSOLUTELY be making a full-bling Radiation.deck
We’ll need to see that on the channel for sure
The wise mothman also works with Cephalid illusionist to mill your whole library (usually at least)
It's worth noting that murders at karlov Manor, while set on ravnica, is not a guild set. So while we'll be getting cool new cards for returning characters, it's going to have a normal amount of multicolored cards rather than the ravnica standard of a bunch
I love how the talk about Magic sets devolved into a 3-4 minute debate on what "bottom-up" means, lmao.
I'm excited for mothman for casual. I'm gonna mix it as a proliferate and mill deck. Gonna call it MILFerate
Mill I'd like to Ferate
Big brain play!!!!!

Kenrith is also great as he can pump up advantage engine creatures against orcish bowmasters if needed.
Hell yeah, he does everything and I love him
Id love to see cam doing some chill lets play content/stream
I know you guys said you don't like to read, but the "Redwall" book series by Brian Jacques is what the Bloomburrow set seems like it will be to me. Looking forward to all the episodes in 2024! Happy New Year guys!

I WANT OTTOR TRIBAL SO BAD! there is so few of them
Wow, you really nailed it on the "horse vehicle" thing, with the new Saddle mechanic.
Cam melted my brain a bit here.. bc he was so confident but so wrong omgomgomg I am so glad he looked it up.
I love how you read the patrons names.
PLAY SPELL SNARE!!!! The amount of 2 drop spells in cEDH that actually just win games is absolutely insane. It’s FAR better than stern scolding
Didnt go through every comment, but i scrolled for a minute and saw ZERO people bring up the article “The Seedborn Muse Question-How Good is Too Good in cEDH?” By Sam Black. Oko as Temur to represent the freedom of Thunder Junction maybe?
And I definitely would guess "Outlaw" as the typal theme.
Oko has a chance to be desparked as a commander. The only time he showed up in lore is when Kellan revealed that Oko is his dad. So we don't know his status otherwise at the moment.

Your mom has 'mount: 1'

Cam: Horses are creatures, not artifacts.
Workhorse (from Exodus): Am I a joke to you?
You had me confused since Moxfield does have an App but I guess it's Android only for now, either way lovely video as always!

I think we are likely to get Outlaw as a creature type, but i do think Cowfolk could have some very funny secret lair implications.
Aren't cowfolk just Minotaurs?
Love the new segment!
Segments will definitely be making many many returns!
@@PlaytoWinMTG at the end of the year we will definitely need a best segment of the year segment
What’s the best segment in cEDH
Hoping if the cowboy type appears its something like outlaw. Would be awesome to build an Outlaw tribal
You got the mount prediction right :D
I think ad naus is going to dip in usage then come back with a vengence late in the year as we get more midrange and then turbo makes a comeback.
Imagine if the horror set is just an unofficial 'Cabin in the woods' UB set

Not on topic of the video but out of curiosity how do you guys get proxies and how often do you proxy out cards like the moxes and mana crypt?
I'm fully expecting more bikes instead of horses in Thunder Junction.
A return to Desert's could be quite cool. If we got more desert support a bit like snow could Hazezon, Shaper of Sand see CEDH play?

I remember the days when you guys thought Smothering Tithe was a meme card. How the turn tables.

I need that metal Majin Buu shirt.. for reasons
The long segment names remind me of 2000s emo and hard-core song titles ❤🤘

killer klowns from outer space shout out, I cant believe it make it happen wizards. Best movie ever.
anyone else think about the cow folk idea and realize that would just be a minotaur???
