    Hire a couple of Forest Service firefighters when they are off the clock, to thin out the trees. That is what the do a lot when they aren't fighting fires. Arborists will be too expensive. In the mid fall season is the best time to cut because of the fire risk.

    • @EpicRev1
      @EpicRev1 3 года назад +3

      I live in Bend OR, there are plenty of FSF that will cut and thin trees in this area. In my area, a licence is required to be using a chainsaw in the mountains (cutting firewood etc..). Just south of Bend 2 weeks ago a fire was started by a chainsaw (400 acres). During the hot dry months of summer, my biggest worry/scare would be using a chainsaw and starting a fire.

      Will Cook, yep. I worked for the Forest Service in Sisters, OR. I was B faller certified by the government. I owned my own saw and people in my area paid me to cut trees on their properties, on my days off. It wasn't uncommon for us firefighters to cut several hundred trees each per day.

    Use marker flags to help sight the line you are trying to build then lay out an old garden hose to help you get the radius of the turns right. If it starts to kink or bend it's too tight and won't have the flow you want.

    It was a little disappointing ting to hear that this won’t be publicly accessible to riders. Considering that your channel was built on riding mostly public trails I had hopes these would be too. Dude? I'm British? And no, I'm never coming to America to mountain bike... So with that serious SALES MAN out the window, man, buddy, really now, you've got to get that land making you money! Dude? MAKE MONEY! My first idea is if folks are pooping along your land, can you get a diner (do you guys still call them diners?) going there - a little road side layby where you can chill, lots of wooden tables and benches, ice cream (I think you keep saying it's hot??? I dunno...) but food, toilets, get the thing plumbed and yes, oh yes, solar all the way. Make it as green as you possibly can! Is there like an overlook onto the property somewhere? Get a road up there and caravan the heck outta it! Shop, swimming pool, night club, kids play area - ya know - whatever! Just make it make money! If ya got a mile of downhill, chuck a line up there and get people zipping down it! Whatever! Make money dude! Cause I gotta be honest, I'm watching this with 2 main points going on in my head: 1. It's been like a month ish since you where there and you've got like 50 meters of track to go down? A month? Like the other parks you ride there's like 6 to 10 tracks (maybe more, I didn't really take that much notice) I mean, realistically, how long is it going to take 1 man to build one of those tracks never mind 6 to 10 of them? And then, how quickly does mother nature reclaim them? You've talked about that before in your vids... Man, that math... Man, that doesn't compute good. Then 2. Carl and Samantha like mountain biking. They have their local trails and then they have one holiday a year where they travel to go trailing... Why would they come to yours as apposed to a full on, stay 7 nites in full accommodation, pully things or cable cars to get you to the top, toilets, water, shop, town near by... Dude? I'm watching this and I wish you the absolute best in the world, really do... But fella? My heart is filled with fear and dread for you. Honest now. If this cost you 1/2 a million bucks, wait a while, hopefully the price goes up and you can sell it on at a profit. Cause I'm sorry but 50 meters of track starting from nowhere, going nowhere and that's a month's work? Come on fella, this is going nowhere. Get your skates on, get making money asap or dude? I'm so sorry, but your wasting your time.
    I feel like you should stop looking at successful parks and look to those that failed and why they failed - cause like 50 meters per month, that's 600 meters a year. Think about that: A year from now you won't even have 1km of track. Buddy, I'm sorry, but this is never going to work... not at this rate. And you still haven't got a road leading there, a place to park, an area to pitch a tent (never mind a caravan or glamping), running water, toilets... Dude, man. Serious now. You really, really, need to rethink this... I genuinely wish you the very best but what I'm seeing is filling my heart with fear and dread. And I sincerely hope this awakens something in you, opens your eyes and you make a go of it. I'd love to see you have your own park - But fella? Oh man, I just can't see it happening at this rate - and it breaks my heart. Come on mate, you got the dream... Now make it happen!!! You can do it fella! You can do it!!!

  • @plabptng9

    I’ll second the fire notes. Start clearing out brush, small trees, and lower limbs, so that with luck (and neighbors who do the same) when fire comes, it burns out the understory and leaves the big trees.
    Also, two pieces of advice for when you’re walking out in the steep/loose stuff.
    One, if you’re getting boots full of rocks, shorts and gators is the way to go, IMO.
    Second, for walking on that stuff, keep your weight over your feet - your instinct is to lean towards he hill and maybe put a hand on it, but the smaller the angle between your body and the slope, the easier it is to slip. The other trick, if it’s loose enough, is to take the mountaineers approach and take extra heavy steps, heel down and toe up, or weighting the uphill side of your foot when side-hilling. That puts your feet into the material, rather than on top of it, which makes it way harder to slide.

    You need to thin out to keep infestations down and reduce wild fire fuel. Take your drove up, get a marker app and mark out the trail to get a rough idea of where you want it and to have your features. Flag and start sweating.👍🏻 You need p nut butter smeared on trees to draw in animals where you want them. Not close to camp as you know.🐻
