@@asdrubalvivanco2301 🤗 I know dear Astrubal and, this is exactly what I will be doing and next year...no more colonial "fun" for me thanks... Are you back in Ecuador??
@@Jetmab04 Yay! Almost you have one foot out of the door, same as me. Yes, I go but I'll only be there for a month and possibly next year I'll also pack my bags and leave these Icy, gloomy winter days.Take care dear JA, good sunday. Ah! I wrote in your language the last week but maybe you still didn't get it.

That was my reason for taking the "Variante" route over the hump, a way of avoiding the traffic stop at the town gate. I had a Chinese moto and I did my best to make it legal but the computer in Loja was always broken at the appropriate office. So, living on via Cocanama bajo not far from the start of that sendaro (path) I often went that way to get to the village. I recently tried an electric bike, what Carl was riding. It was nice and did the job....helped on the hills....but. As long as I can, I should walk. I am 78 years old in April. Going to town from my house walking around and returning might add up to two miles. Good exercise. Living here you don't need a stairmaster....just stairs ( I am on the 2nd floor) and a walk to town and back most days. A walk along the river now and then. Its a healthy place if you keep things basic and make a lifestyle appropriate to the valley. Check it out. You might like our little town.
You get to influence a lot of people now. Even though your channel isn't the biggest, you have a "niche" community and in my opinion a responsability to really well inform people about the vibe, and filter people you think wouldn't fit in that beautifully growing community. There is a place for anyone and everyone in this country!
Thanks for watching Julie! We feel a responsibility to be authentic, share our honest perspectives and live the values we believe in! Hopefully that’s what comes across the screen! Ecuador isn’t for everybody. Vilcabamba definitely isn’t for everybody. We truly believe it IS a special place for those that feel that “vibe”. ❤️ 🙏

Hi Carl Absolutely outstanding video. Really appreciate the camera work on the ebike as you narrate with the beautiful scenery whizzing by! Nice editing too! Looking forward to doing that ride someday...hope Vilca doesn't change too much.
Lol It's true about to grow our own food, I'm from the costal and outside my yard we've got mango, chirimoya, papayas, beans, coconut, maracuya (passion fruit)

It really depends on what you’re looking for and how old your children are. There are public schools, alternative schools and nature clubs/schools for younger children in Vilca. There are private schools and international schools in Loja and Cuenca. Homeschooling is also prevalent. Many expats combine different options together. Hope that helps! Do you speak spanish?
Yes, my Spanish is fluent. French is my first language, and I've lived in Ecuador for almost 13 years now. I've had plenty of time to learn 😃
