Bill tells the story of how 5 white pineapples turned into a farm. He shows how he is disposing of the extra produce and then samples the White Pineapple for the camera.
Dried pineapple is better than any candy I've ever eaten. It's amazing! Loved this video. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so no way to grow a pineapple here. But, it's fun to watch you do it and I'm so happy for you that you get to enjoy those pineapples so fresh and perfect. Maybe someday I'll get over to the Islands and I'll have a real pineapple, too. Aloha!
I tasted white pineapple on a boat trip while visiting the Big Island with my family about 10 years ago and could never eat a yellow pineapple or any pineapple at the mainland since then. And the crew wouldn't tell me where to get them from, they said they buy all the fruits for their trips. Thanks for the reminder!
I have an Excalibur Dehydrator too! My husband bought it for me to make pipikaula. I love this dehydrator, I think it's the best!! You're right about how hard it is to check if it's ripe. The one I grew I picked a little too early, should have waited a couple of days. Not sweet enough. I'll keep trying though.
Could I do this method with a yellow pineapple? I'm in so cal and was thinking in a 5 gallon tub? What do you think? Great video to!! I'm trying to grow my bananas to and love seeing yours in the background!
I have been growing pineapple plants in Germany for 30 years, have a tropical hot house to overwinter pineapples and I have bananas and papaya in the hot house all year round.
Hi Bill, great video. This plant seems to be perfectly adapted for your climate. Did you ever consider germinating some seeds, so that you would have a little more genetic variation instead of all clones on your property? Just in case a pest, disease, or root rot thing would come by? Apparently you can find the seeds in the skin of the fruit, or does that work differently for white pineapple?
By far my favorite!! The sweetest of all!🍍🍍🍍
What a joy it is to see you two people enjoy a pineapple! I am sold. Well done.

Nice pineapple story, but - No hurricane stories? Did you folks do OK in the storm?
Good show! I got some White Jade Pineapple that is from UH - you are supposed to be able to eat the core. I wonder if it is the same?
