Peonies attract ants to your garden, once flowers bloom the ants disappear. The ant is NOT required to open the flowers, they do that all on their own.
One year my wife and I asked our pest control service to treat for ants outside. We didn’t see any ants. We also didn’t see any blooms on our peonies. It seems that there’s a sticky substance that holds the bloom together that the ants are fond of and they come to eat it, that’s opening the blooms. All of our blooms drooped without opening that year. So be careful about killing the ants.
Mine wouldn't open until there were ants cleaning off the buds. This year they didn't bud at all.

👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼Vinegar is great for your shower walls, & shower sprayer head. Spray the walls and let it sit overnight, rinse next day, all junk comes right off.
👉🏼👉🏼Take a bread bag, or a baggie, and add vinegar to the bottom of it, and tie the bag to your shower head overnight and all the build-up comes off.
Add enough vinegar to soak the shower head size you have. Can use an old toothbrush for little extra Sparkle. Both eork👍
This is terrific! thank you.
I just 'discovered' white vinegar for the toilet bowl. I live in Phoenix and our water is very hard. There was quite a lot of mineral build-up in the bowl that no store-bought product would remove. I got tired of buying the stuff! So I went looking online for DIY toilet bowl cleaners. White vinegar was one of the top suggestions. I am thrilled with how it worked! build-up is literally gone, after the first use! By the second user, it is ALL gone!!! The toilet bowl looks brand new and its from the 80's!! whoo hoo! its the little things that make me smile!!!
I have very hard water and mineral buildup. I wonder if this is okay for septic systems?
@@andreabradley5837 I would think it would be fine. It is a natural substance. But if you're concerned, call a septic company.
Anyway - give it a try - you will love how it works!
@@jessstone7486 thanks!
It's easier just to crap in the yard.
@@KB-ke3fi It's even better to crap in your neighbors yard. Then blame it on their dog.
Don't forget instead of using fabric softener in you washing machine, just use a quarter to half cup of white vinegar and you cloths will be soft and not smell, also you won't need a cling sheet in the dryer! Try it you will love it! I keep gallons of Vinegar at all times!
Used to use vinegar in place of fabric softener but stopped due to the vinegar weakening and destroying any elasticised materials in the clothing.
Little Correction, Yes rust can be washed off with Vinegar due to it's acidic nature. But it will also cause metals to rust if you don't neutralize the acid with a base. So after the rust is cleaned off, rinse the metal in baking soda with water. then dry off right away.
acidic can also discolor some natural metals if left on. it will definitely discolor wood to a dark gray
Also good to protect with a little linseed oil after cleaning
Eliza Beth, thank you for the information about finding a transcript of this video and doing it nicely and without judgement. We who were unaware are appreciative!
I have birds, so I have used vinegar as my mainstay for cleaning, disinfecting, and laundry for 30 years.
Vinegar is a great product on its own, but mixed with baking soda down the drains once a month keeps pipes open. Mixed into paste with cream of tartar powder, it can clean baked on grease from oven glass
Mix with baking soda into a paste and it's a great jewelry cleaner. Pack the piece in the paste, leave it for an hour, then scrub it off with a toothbrush.
Thanks !
I USE VINEGAR TO CLEAN ME WINDOWS . I LOVE IT
And you can use hand sanitizer to clean car widows too.
I've used vinegar with a squirt of dawn dish soap in my weed killer sprayer for years. Its way faster abd safer. I use the same recipe with more dish soap for cleaning. It does an amazing fast job on scummy showers!
I’ve used the vinegar + salt + dish soap in a garden sprayer for years on weeds in the back alley; it’s phenomenal and doesn’t leave harmful chemicals in the soil. Very important: look for “cleaning vinegar” which is double the level of acetic acid of regular cooking vinegar 👍🏼
Vinegar for the washer rinse cycle saves loads of money. It helps to remove soap residue and soften towels. We also use it in the gravelly driveway and in our walkways for weeds and grass.
How much do you add?
I've been using Vinegar for decades in my rinse cycle. I have severe asthma & those flowery laundry softeners, WILL bring on an asthma attack faster than any thing I can think of at the moment.
I make a rinse for the dishwasher using 1 cup white distilled vinegar and 20 drops of lemon essential oil. The etching has come off of my clear drinking glasses. Much cheaper and works best.
I have a window washing business and I use vinegar and water. It works great.
Vinegar and water is how I grew up cleaning windows. Can't be beat.
Love the ideas especially for the organic use thanks. This is valuable info for our gardens and homes! Thanks.
I add used green tea bags to my unhealthy plants, and that really helps. R U sure white vinegar won't kill my plants. You say it kills weeds, now won't they hurt the plants too?? Just cautious-curious!? Thx all the same, liked the video!!
Amazing! thank you!
Yes is true God bless you😊😇😘😘
Vinegar is acidic which is why it helps in many applications however use caution as well. If it is too strong it can etch deeper into your metal surfaces or cement, if you put an egg in a cup of vinegar for a day or two it will soften the shell ! We use this demo in the dental field to visualize how strong acid in the mouth can soften enamel.
am egg? now im getting hungry
😮
Well what types of Foods are that Acidic? The vinegar can cause that much damage and that quickly to an egg isn't it dangerous it sprayed on weeds grass etc. That my Dog might decide he'd like to eat?! N if so is there something I should have him afterwards to neutralize or bring the PH back to an exceptable Level health wise for him etc. Should I be worried if he has ingested small amounts? Sorry for being such an worrier where my fur baby Odin is considered. Thanks n I Appreciate the Information 😊
Will try these great ideas. I know it defintely works on weeds. Tnahnk you.
Vinegar and baking soda are two very versatile and effective things that have many, many uses. I use them for all kinds of things. Coconut oil is also on the very useful list. AND they are all safe enough to eat. 😊😊
Do not forget lemon juice....keeps bugs away, natural bleach, & not harmful if a toddler would ingest!
Thankyou for sharing the wonder effect of Vinegar. I am bless and will apply them as necessary or needed. God bless.
Great knowledge i gained about vinegar useful characteristics, love it much
Thank you ☺️
I usually use vinegar for my laundry.
Never ever soak your garden tools in vinegar. Yes it will remove the rust, but it will also discolor and pit the steel. Following the instructions here by following the the vinegar by just wiping dry is a sure fire way to be buying new garden tools not making them look like new. Vinegar is an acid. It eats not only the rust but the good metal as well. If you do want to use this method, neutralize the vinegar with baking soda before rinsing with very hot water and then trying completely. It is much better to remove the rust with a stif brass bristle brush and some oil and a bit of elbow grease, or better yet clean them up before you but them away in the first place. Rinse the dirt off with the garden hose then plunge the blade of the shovel, trowel, clippers etc. into a bucket of sand filled with oil. It will keep the rust off though you will have to clean them off next time you use them….but hey, no rust!
1. knock off/rinse loose dirt
then
2. plunge tools into a 5gal pit or bucket of sand with *approximately* ½ qt of motor oil mixed in.
Tools are clean & protected from rust.
@@pktdbgnzwl thanks, that’s a bit more accurate than “filled with oil” 😀
Yeah - isn't vinegar used for Acid Etching? coat the metal with wax, cut the design into the wax, then soak in vinegar over night..
Also, lemonade works just as well for keeping cut flowers alive (or so I've heard; it's to do with the carbonated bubbles, apparently. I wouldn't know, I don't do flowers, cut or otherwise.)
I had some brackets that had some rust. Ileft them in vinegar for 6 months because i forgot them all that was left was sludge no rust no brackets
Great tips - thank you
Very useful information, thank you so much!
thanks for making the day go better...
Amazing garden. So peaceful indeed.💙👏🏻
Wonderful !!! Thanks !!🥰
NEVER EVER cut your flowers with secateurs: you pinch off the canals through which the flower is fed. Instead, diagonally cut them with a sharp knife, thus leaving the “veins” of the plant open and enlargening the surface through which it can absorb its nutrients. This keeps your flowers well much longer. Take this advice from a Dutchman, we know our flower stuff.
old razor blades that are too blunt to shave with are great for this. and cheap.
Will it be the same with roses? I have roses only. Thanks 😊
@@guadalupegonzalez9132 yep, roses in particular!

I use a mixture of vinegar and pink liquid soap , mixture of 1-1 for cleaning bath tub ,tub surroundings ,tiles, toilet and sink . it work like a charm. Will have to try it out in the garden to see how it goes.
It will act as a universal plant killer and it will build up in the soil. Great way to destroy a once flourishing garden.
very low amount of vinegar in a gallon of water for acid loving plants. High vinegar and salt will kill stuff
Great advices to make the life easier.
Thanks for reminding me of something I had forgotten.
great info, thanks for the vid
White vinegar is great for cleaning litter boxes also. I just over the bottom of the empty litter box with 2-3 inches of water then add about 1 cup of vinegar. Let it sit for several hours, use a brush for any spots that are still there then dump it out and rinse. I just let mine air dry, works great.
use Bleach to disinfect. works better. cat urine hardest thing to clean. ultraviolet light will xhow resin of cat urine is still there. as seen on My Cat From Hell
Is that after you eat the tootsie rolls?
Doesn’t make your cat want to avoid the box later? Nah, smell probably dissipates. Smart!
@@Wesmancan Does anyone really eat those? They’re gross. 😛

Try pickling vinegar. It’s 7%. When you’re spraying weeds, make sure you “spot” spray because that mixture kills everything.
Thank a lot ,useful information

Thanks for the tips I will try on some of my plants.
Thank You ! Very Informarive video.

I have used apple cider vinegar in a glass (for killing fruit flies), then top with plastic wrap, secure it with a rubber band. Put a small hole in the top & set it where ever they seem to hang out. You will be amazed how well it works. I remember reading years ago that ants do not like coffee grounds. So when I see them around my windows, I just sprinkle the grounds around the sill.
Ants also don’t like cinnamon
Great tip for the fruit flies thx

Thank you for showing me the different ways to use vinegar outside.
I already knew some of those hints, but it's nice to know other ways to use vinegar.

Vinegar is the best! Love this video! Thank you :)
Thanks for your tips!❤❤
I use white vinegar in the laundry along with the detergent, and instead of fabric softener I use white vinegar in the rinse cycle. I also mix it with baking soda, and put in the toilet tank.
Same here! All my household cleaners are vinegar/h2o/essential oils. Also, if you soak your household vinegar in orange, lemon, or lime, or a combo of these for 24 hours then the vinegar smell is not present. Best hack ever!!
I use white vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washing machine, works like a charm, keeps the machine spotless and you don't smell a thing.
very doubtful! Washing Machines contain approx. 35 GALLONS of Water to wash Clothes, then Another 35 Gallons to Rinse. You would need heck of alot of Vinegar added to 35 Gallons for it to do anything!! All in your mind.
@@PostUp_Time in your dreams. I have a Miele front loader that uses 6.1 liters per kilogram laundry, as the max load is 6 kg it uses 36 liters or about 10 gallon. Also I use vinegar instead of fabric softner so very last rinse.
I can smell my neighbor using it in her wash. No way would I use it as softener. But I do use it in the disposal and run it down the drains . Btw ,how is her comment " in her dreams" ???
@@MC-342 it refers to her math on how many gallons of water is being used. My washing machine doesn't use 70 gallons.
Thanks you for the best solution.
Thanks for a great 👍 tip that's awesome 👌 look forward to see the results when i do try it .👏
I’m really glad I came across this video! LOTS of good info that’ll be very helpful AND affordable. I’ve got a couple Hydrangeas and got something from the store to make the soil acidic so the flowers would be blue instead of pink. Instead, my plant didn’t even bloom that year! I’m going to try this and see what happens. Any time I can use something that’s not chemicals, I prefer it and will be trying it!

After watching your videos about vinegar and what can do. Did try it on my plants and weeds growing on my brick patio's, works great👍 thanks new subscriber here.
You can use boiling water for that too
Does it kill grass around them
Strong saltwater will kill those weeds also without the vinegar
@@tomrobards7753 for what kind of grass tho?

My grandparents would pour dill pickle juice on their outdoor plants! It must have been the vinegar that was doing the trick! Now I drink the dill pickle juice for the benefits :)
What benefits?
Was that to kill them or or make them grow better? This is all SOOOOOOOOOO confusing, but no one wants to clear up the obvious contradiction.
Thank You For Sharing ❤

AMAZING!! I knew that vinegar was helpful, but had NO IDEA, JUST HOW MUCH!! Can't WAIT to try.. . !!! There will be gallon or 2 of vinegar , on my NEXT grocery list!! Thanks for the helpful hints, I absolutely HATW to use chemicals, and " some" of the
" safe" concoctions are VERY expensive!!!
It is NOT safe! it is highly toxic. Using vinegar is AGAINST THE LAW! It acidifies the soil, kills all bugs and plants in it, leaving it dead soil. If many use it, it gets into drinking water too and it causes a serious environmental problem. We need bugs in the soil to keep it fertile and healthy but vinegar doesn't discriminate, kills off all. And nature is strong, there will be weeds that can live on it and these will be even stronger and more difficult to kill.
Using it for ants is useless as the nest with queen and eggs is really deep down.
All the while you are using something that is highly toxic and environmentally damaging
Exactly what I need!!! Thanks for this useful tips.
Plants are very sensitive to sodium and so adding table salt to the garden will kill plants. Some use it to kill weeds, but the same sodium that kills weeds, will spread through the soil and kill many other plants, and for this reason it is a poor choice as a herbicide.
Useful to destroy your garden. Buy yourself a good gardening book, instead and ask at your local garden center for advice. Tjhis "advice" is full of vice for your garden.
