So strange, to be in the heart of the enemy camp having defeated it's army only to have a peasant, not realising the war is over, kill your king. And Tal played and directed this on the chess board.
Thank you again, Mato. As always, your comment and insight is so valuable to understand the game. Even when I am not playing, I just reproduce a game, but now I understand the ideas behind the moves. Thanks for your teaching. Best wishes. Elmer.
Tal gave us some of the most beautiful middle games of all time, if he'd kept in good health there can be little doubt he'd be up there with Fischer and Kasparov
Are u crazy...fischer lost 4 games to Tal...And kasparov lost a game in 17 moves to tal 1 month before Tal's death....but then how come, he can be at the level of these two? Tal is way way way ahead in chess than these two...tal has no opening book line....its Tal who shows the world on how you can still beat anyone in the world even by following your own way of playing...just absolutely obsessively legendary is Tal when he is on the chess board...
what a game Tal have, thanks Mr. Mato for loading chess videos for chess lover like me. At 38 my love of chess brings back again and now happy playing with my work colleges. more power and good health, God Bless!
Very beautiful game Mato! Also I must add that unless I hear your voice atleast once a day my day somehow seems to be missing something. You've become a part of many a chess lover's lives. Thank you so much for challenging me to think as I sit back awe struck by the brilliance of the great masters - the very zenith of human imagination. I thank you and wish you good luck with your chess.Bye for now....Mato style!
NxRd1 was a stunning move. To see this most counterintuitive of the three available captures of white's rook and to do so over the board, is remarkable.
I love how the Qa5 move seems aggressive at first but boomerangs spectacularly. Tal's tactics are a wonderful reminder not to play moves by rote and to check off on all fun possibilities!
The greatest aspect about Tal is not his supreme chess ability. Rather, it is his chess ability that reveals aspects about the fallibility of human nature.
OMG! This is the best and the funniest game I've ever seen played by Tal. Absolutely amazing! He was a master of taking advantage of his opponents' weeknesses. :D
Hey Mato, greetings from Turkey. I am a huge fan of you and your videos. You are an amazing story teller. I love your absurd humor and the way of sayin "check mate". Keep doing videos. We are following you!
every tal's win makes me laugh so hard. he's a clown of chess (in the most positive way ofc). No person in this world beleives in God as Tal beleived in his risky winning combinations and I deeply beleive that even when he miscalculated or had wrong feeling, he must had been greatly satisfied that he tried to make us all laugh out of ignorance and shame torwards his brilliance... Tal = my man !
At first glance, Tal's sacrifice may look like madness but after a lot of time watching, I realize it's all precise calculation. He does not sacrifices just because he likes it. He sacrifices because he calculates (sometimes wrong tho) that it will lead to a good position for him.
Kasparov: "We calculate: he does this then I do that. And Tal, through all the thick layers of variants, saw that around the 8th move, it will be so and so. Some people can see the mathematical formulae, they can imagine the whole picture instantly. An ordinary man has to calculate, to think this through, but they just see it all. It occurs in great musicians, great scientists. Tal was absolutely unique. His playing style was of course unrepeatable. I calculated the variants quickly enough, but these Tal insights were unique. He was a man in whose presence others sensed their mediocrity."
This is the fact that Mikhail Tal creates beautiful play and his opponent can only accompany the creation of the beauty that Tal wants. Not all grandmasters can often create beautiful games
Thanks for another video Mato. And Tal gets a hood pass. When he plays, he just doesn't give a **** whats going around him and wins the game! 8D And if you don't what a hood pass is, PM and I'll let you know.
Great video. So once white pawn to F7, whats what would have been a better move for black? bishop takes pawn on F7, sacrificing rook? Thanks in advance.
it's possible, yes. But would it change black's upcomming defeat? In your scenario, then white's next moves would be: 1. Promote pawn to queen (or rook) (black = checked) 2. Promoted pawn captures (most likely) bishop (ifnot, the rook (black = checked again) 3. Take black queen Result: Black has 2 pieces, White has 4
Tal is not normal at all.His brain works faster than his hands move on d board. He is always anticipating what his opponent is going to do next and counters d move.Genius
You are correct...however, Be6 is the best ( and only ) move for black. He would escape mate, but it would lead to serious material damage...i know that black is lost, but if time is factor in this game who knows...

hey mato... i've been interested in the sicilian dragon for a while... so i have an idea. Why not teach us how to play some openings? you dont have to stop posting games, you can do both at the same time! Thanks!
+Arthur Moreira The Only way to stop checkmate was to move bishop to make some room for a king, and after promoting to queen -> Kd7, Queen takes rook, king takes queen, Bishop takes black queen, and black would be down a knight and bishop.
I looked at what I think are Black's best moves. If instead of resigning, he moves the King left one space. So kxd8. White promotes pawn to queen. kxd7. queen takes rook on C8. King takes queen on C8. Bishop takes queen on D2. White is up a knight and a bishop. Easy victory.
when i see tal games, i become sad. thats for 2 reasons. 1st because ill never be able to play they way he did and 2nd because i think that he had a lot more to offer :(
Another Tal masterpiece; another reason why he's my favorite player.
☝very true
This game is just sick. One of my favourite games i have ever watched!!! Thank you Mato!!!
Greetings from NSW.
Tal is so creative, and your commentary makes the game even more exciting to watch. Thanks Mato!
So strange, to be in the heart of the enemy camp having defeated it's army only to have a peasant, not realising the war is over, kill your king. And Tal played and directed this on the chess board.
+Chris Campbell Whatever you're doing... is not working.
Well said
wow, just WOW...Mister Tal is a real chess magician
exactly my thoughts

Ben Macdowall I think Tal was better than both💪

He is up & above Fischer & Kasparov what are you babbling there?
Tal was the greatest attacking player in the history!
When I hear ''Hi, this is Mato'', I know some good stuff it's coming!!! Saludos desde Chile!
what a game Tal have, thanks Mr. Mato for loading chess videos for chess lover like me. At 38 my love of chess brings back again and now happy playing with my work colleges. more power and good health, God Bless!
omg .. i can't believe the greatness of Tal's brain
I could not stop laughing after realize Tal's wonderful combination. He was really a one of a kind chess grand master.
Thank you
Very beautiful game Mato!

NxRd1 was a stunning move. To see this most counterintuitive of the three available captures of white's rook and to do so over the board, is remarkable.
That arrangement of white's knights and bishops at the end position is a thing of beauty.
Exactly, the queen could not progress, each is guarding the other. Beauty!
Thanks Mato for the informative videos.
Master of tactics !!!
Name is enough
"Tal"
I love how the Qa5 move seems aggressive at first but boomerangs spectacularly. Tal's tactics are a wonderful reminder not to play moves by rote and to check off on all fun possibilities!

Ja sam imo prijatelja Rubcica isli smo u Naftnu Skolu u Ivanic Grad.
OMG! This is the best and the funniest game I've ever seen played by Tal. Absolutely amazing! He was a master of taking advantage of his opponents' weeknesses. :D
Thank u very much for accepting our requests...
Taaallll!!! Super genius, always thinking the unthinkable!
Mato take a bow. Excellent and well explained videos!
I love the Tal videos! Well actually all your videos!!

Magnificence incarnate! Truly a thing of beauty.
Excellent game by Tal, as usual. The best graphics I have ever seen in an online chess game. Even the most tiny coordination letters are very clear.

+jimmy noego I still haven't found a game where Tal's sacrifice failed. There has to be one out there, doesn't there?
Well said.

You are the clown. Tal is chess god
Thank you that you gave us a video of Tal :)
Greetings from Germany
Hi can you tell me what's the German word mato said ?
One of the craziest Tal's way of thinking
Didn't see it coming. Wow!
General Tal is my #1 Chess Player, besides
Bobby Fischer and your my favorite teacher.....
Shalom Mato
Thank you

your videos about Tal was so inspiring....great video **********, that is 10 stars
Great. :-) Thank you for your continued efforts. ~
I love your videos. Please show games where the giants also loose. No one wins all the time.

This is the fact that Mikhail Tal creates beautiful play and his opponent can only accompany the creation of the beauty that Tal wants.
Not all grandmasters can often create beautiful games
great video not too elaborated talk as many do ! and allways unexpected end story's
Brilliant game. Thank you, Mato.
GENIAL👍
I'm also enjoying the Tal revival! Please do some more Mato :) Greetings from England.
Great videos Mato
This game is sick!!! Tal is undoubtedly the greatest attacking genius ever!
Brilliant!
Awesome.
Thanks for another video Mato. And Tal gets a hood pass. When he plays, he just doesn't give a **** whats going around him and wins the game! 8D And if you don't what a hood pass is, PM and I'll let you know.
Nice presentation!
Breathtaking!
I want to marry Tals brain

😂💙 me 2 ...
My opinion: This is one of the best chess games ever recorded
Bravo Anto !! Good choice
Great video. So once white pawn to F7, whats what would have been a better move for black? bishop takes pawn on F7, sacrificing rook? Thanks in advance.
mato i love your videos!
Games like this make me wish that Tal was immortal and would continue making games like these forever.
Hey Mato, possibilities for the King sliding over then going to c2 after the check? How would have Tal continued? Your, or anyboby else's thoughts??
thanks for another Tal game :D
enjoying this match Tal took me into a thrilling and beautiful adventure.
It's true, Tal is a chess magician
Can someone explain why not king d8 after white pawn takes bishop?
it's possible, yes. But would it change black's upcomming defeat?
In your scenario, then white's next moves would be:
1. Promote pawn to queen (or rook) (black = checked)
2. Promoted pawn captures (most likely) bishop (ifnot, the rook (black = checked again)
3. Take black queen
Result: Black has 2 pieces, White has 4
That was one hell of a magic trick
Amazing!
The best game I've ever watched
это невероятно!
Awsome Vid !!!
Simple and sweet :-)
More Tal plzzzz and Garry kasparov if u can :-)
Thanks again
That was vicious!!! I
Tal is not normal at all.His brain works faster than his hands move on d board. He is always anticipating what his opponent is going to do next and counters d move.Genius

Tal has made chess ,super chess! Thank you Mato sir 😊😊😊🙂🙂😊
its strange that Black did not see where the white pawn is heading to
Great 👍
Bravo Mato!
Woow, that game was insanily good, Tal is sick mastermind of chess attack.
A wonderful game from Tal.
amazing!! but what happens if king moves to c8?
Thanks Tal!
Beautifull

tovaris09 Wow , I didnt know Tal was a great soccer player
i found the KILLA move
u didnt
As the saying goes, the pawn is mightier than the sword!
John Craftenworth it's, the pin is mightier than the sword !
Brilliant
Mato, I've been reading up on opening theory recently. Can you give us a game with the Dragondorf variation?
Wow!
What a game!
That's OK. Next year i will show another Tal's game
Amazing game!
hey mato... i've been interested in the sicilian dragon for a while... so i have an idea.
Why not teach us how to play some openings? you dont have to stop posting games, you can do both at the same time!
Thanks!
that knight take rook is gain a move just brilIANT
one question tho.
why didnt black castle queen side?
Can your next video be the game between Tal and Koblencs, played in Riga 1957
PLEASE
wow I wish I could have seen this in real life , to be watching as the hammer fell
In my chess database it says Tal was playing many games in a simul and the opponent was called Arthur William Feuerstein
Unbelievable!
Missed some more variations of what would happen if black didn't resign, should have detailed it more. Interesting video though
+Arthur Moreira The Only way to stop checkmate was to move bishop to make some room for a king, and after promoting to queen -> Kd7, Queen takes rook, king takes queen, Bishop takes black queen, and black would be down a knight and bishop.
+T sss What if before the promotion to a Q , the K moves one step ?
I looked at what I think are Black's best moves. If instead of resigning, he moves the King left one space. So kxd8. White promotes pawn to queen. kxd7. queen takes rook on C8. King takes queen on C8. Bishop takes queen on D2. White is up a knight and a bishop. Easy victory.
when i see tal games, i become sad. thats for 2 reasons. 1st because ill never be able to play they way he did and 2nd because i think that he had a lot more to offer :(
I knew pawn takes knight was correct not because I saw the whole line, but because I knew Tal was playing it 😆
Mato says that after fxg7 that black resigned. The low bar, however, says: "18.fxg7 Qa5 19.g8Q# 1-0."
+kenp3L What if after 18. fxG7 , black plays Kd8 ?
