    Watching a game like this makes me think again and again that chess is beyond calculations and learning the theory, it's a "fluid art" with lots of "unknown unknowns" waiting in the dark corner to later be unlocked by human bold creativity. What a game indeed.

    • @abdomohamed-mu2ox
      @abdomohamed-mu2ox 8 лет назад +6

      powerful chess engines can beat any human now. so i'm guessing it's more about calculations and exploiting opponent mistakes

    • @quantummath
      @quantummath 8 лет назад +5

      abdo mohamed
      The mere fact of computational Supremacy that today's computers have over human beings and its manifestation in a game like chess does not reduce the inherent art and beauty that lies in this marvelous mind game just the way that the same computers still do not trivialize the art and Beauty in mathematics numbers and calculations.

    • @abdomohamed-mu2ox
      @abdomohamed-mu2ox 8 лет назад +1

      +A. M. Goudarzi didn't say it wasn't a field for art and artists, but I say a calculator would beat an artist :D

    • @quantummath
      @quantummath 8 лет назад +1

      That's true, in the battle of calculator-vs-artist type of chess playing, it's the machine that prevails.

    • @DickNiaz26
      @DickNiaz26 8 лет назад +4

      1) SOME parts of chess are beyond TODAY'S calculations and theory. However as time goes on, computational algorithms will continue improve.
      2) You're also assuming a false dichotomy between artists and quantitative problem solvers when it's possible for both to rely on some degree of (what most of us perceive as) "intuition".

  • @fscii71
    @fscii71 7 лет назад +2

    What a game. Nobody ever will remember a 2800 "playing not to lose" game but the games like this with queen sacs and go for broke attacks, will always live on.

      You can run the game on stockfish. Each player had 4 mistakes but the losing move for white was a blunder after the black queen was captured. Regardless, this game is insanely complicated and I bet lots of GMs would lose in white's position after the queen sac.

    Although Boris Spassky won the 29th USSR Championship in Baku 1961, the best known game in that tournament occurred in round 15 between Mikhail Tal and Rashid Nezhmetdinov. Nezhmetdinov won the brilliancy prize for this tactical masterpiece, earning the nickname “Evergreen Rashid.” Years later, Tal told a journalist that this loss was “the happiest day of my life,” due to the beauty of his opponent’s play.
