These were just some of the words used to describe the scene of Disaster of Air India Flight 182.
A Boeing 747 with the lives of 329 people on board vanished from radar screens in the morning of June 23rd, 1985. The massive plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean around 120 miles off the coast of Ireland. There were no survivors. The Story of Air India Flight 182 involves a lot of moving parts, the loss of this plane was just part of a larger plot. This was an act of terrorism, a b0mbing, one that actually intended to kill a lot more people. In this video we’ll construct a timeline of this terrorist act. We’ll put the pieces together and find out just how the b0mb got on board, who the perpetrators were and see if we can establish a motive. This is Air India Flight 182.

Mary, mother of goodness, that is a long list. Especially devastating that so many families were wiped out. If I'm correct, not only was this the worst terrorist attack in aviation history prior to the 11th of September 2001 attacks, but this was the third worst air disaster in history at the time, behind the Tenerife North Airport disaster and Turkish Airlines Flight 981. Of course though, Air India Flight 182 would be surpassed by Japan Airlines Flight 123 only seven weeks later.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to list all the names and ages of those murdered. It brings home the depth of this tradegy and the senseless loss of life. What did this act accomplish except anguish, loss, anger and injustice.
So many young families. 😢

The guy who constructed the bomb didn't get a life sentence even though he was caught and the evidence pointed to him? That's horrific. The fact that this man is now walking free horrifies me. He murdered over 300 people yet he's allowed to walk free! That is so messed up!
Even in 2023, Khalistani chaos is openly happening in Canada and Govt takes no action.

Just putting it out there 90% of the citizens were Canadians and yet the Irish have done more to memoirals this than the Canadians. Just goes on to show how dirty vote bank politics can get.
Wtf is vote bank politics? No one is pandering to Sikhs in Canada, that's just paranoid delusions of Hindutvas that don't understand democracy
Yea they need those votes from terrorists as normal citizens of Canada don’t even go out for voting
I remember this disaster, I was a small kid, and the whole country was trying to help. It started some serious conversations about finally bringing peace to Northern Ireland and ending the devising influence of religious organisations here. I can still picture some of those news reports. Those poor families.

Any politcs involving a Trudeau is going to end in disaster. Such a sad and infuriating story.
Oh when she said “the little man wanted to take a look at the cockpit” that really made me sad. This was just so horrible, rest in peace to all who died on this horrible day.

Yours is a worthy memorial and does you great credit.
Thank you for telling the story of how my childhood best friends were taken from us, along with so many other innocent people. So grateful.
Wow just saw this now! Thank you!!! 💛
I hate when acts of murder are called “incidents” or “accidents”.
Also: I feel bad for the gate agent that was intimidated into allowing one of the murders onto the plane. She has to live with all those lives lost.
They didn't get on the plane themselves, only their bags. They walked out of the terminal after checking in their bags.
@@squ34ky I don't think that would ever be allowed now. Not sure why that wasn't deemed suspicious then. But, the Swiss Cheese model of sequential screwups played out and allowed the bomb on to the plane.
Isn't "incident" fits instead of "accident"?

Fun fact, most of the Canadians have no clue about this terrorist attack
They already forgot about the totalitarian lockdowns, the faked "mass graves", old ladies being trampled by RMCP horses, and consolidation of all media into state run.

When governments gives mercy to terrorists, don't extrady them...innocent people had to die.

Thank you sir. But the irony is, the canadian government has still not changed its ways. To appease a particular vote bank, they turn a blind eye to all the nefarious, Anti India, Anti Hindu activities by the khalistani terrorists. Its like Canada has become a base for Khalistani terrorists plotting against India.
When a Trudeau is at the controls, the dirtbags with deep pockets take priority.
Canada is still encouraging this group even today. Its sad. How can a country have such a horrible attitude towards humanity.
Justin Trudeau is again aiding these Terrorists. India has warned Canada many many times.
@@susan1063 it's not the country, it's stupid bureaucracy
As an Indian the Kanishka tragedy is really painful for me, even though I was born long after it. Thank you for taking it very seriously and perfectly capturing the tragedy for all.
Canada really failed the Air India victims, especially with the acquittal of Bagri and Malik. The judge in their case, when delivering his ruling, basically called out the Canadian government for botching their case so bad that he had to acquit them on lack of evidence.
I'm not sure if Air India 182 could be considered Canada's 9/11. I don't think it had the same cultural impact, and while every American knows about 9/11, I don't think the same can be said for Canadians and Air India 182. It wasn't an attack on Canada per say, like 9/11 was. The better comparison is Lockerbie, but on a bigger scale.
Imagine if this was a plane full of white Americans and the perpetrator was a terrorist organization based out of Afghanistan. What would the Americans expect out of Afghanistan? I would imagine they'd want the complete capture and extradition of ALL members of that terrorist organization. Or else the Americans would threaten to invade Afghanistan.
But when it is Indians and Canadian-Indians dying in a similar attack by a terrorist organization based out of Canada, did Canada capture and extradite ALL members of that terrorist organization? LOL no. They just went and gave them political space in their own country. And they continue to do this to this day. Insomuch that now these terrorists are running for elections in Canada.
Yeah, the West excels at selective outrage. And then they want to talk to India about "Ukraine". No offence to you as a person though. Just sharing the thoughts of the average Indian when it comes to Canada.
And today's Canada govt is still supporting these terrorist and hence supporting act of terrorism ..
Those who died were brown people that's why larger Canadians never gave shit about this incident
You know why it wasn't a attack? Because majority of Canadians who died were Brown not white.
Ya because most of the victims killed were not whites…plus vote bank politics from those khalistani communities in canada
I'm in Ireland, 38 years old and feel like I wasn't aware of this incident at all. Very sad, and very well made video.
Cos Ireland is diversity hell now sadly
I would have been 10 years old at the time and I don't remember this either. I remember other incidents like lockerbie but not this one.
When you think of act's of terrorism you wouldn't really think of Ireland. We didn't forget about this tragedy though as there is a memorial garden down in West Cork at Ahakista I think.
I'm also an Indian Irish and I wasn't told abt this incident until last yr. Despite that, indeed it feels very off for Ireland and Japan to be involved in these tragedies, my respects....

The Canadian govts apathy in this case is disgusting
Super well made vid, I appreciate your work a lot ❤
As a matter of fact, Canadian government supports the perpetrators & their organizations to this day.
The canadian govt still has a soft spot for these extremists and hosts them in their country.
Like father, like son.
Well, just a few days ago in broad daylight in Canada, Khalistanis were parading a float depicting the assassination of the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
And then there was that incident where Justin Trudeau invited a convicted terrorist to his party while on official trip to India.
One has to wonder what Canada aims to achieve by sheltering terrorists.
The Trudeau of that time was absolute trash and the filth in office now continues his legacy in the dung heap known as the Canadian Prime Minister's office. Canada is soft on terror and welcomes all sorts of extremists yet cracks down on hard working people and persecutes its own law-abiding citizens. Thank God I'm not there anymore.

That was totally and utterly engrossing from start to finish, brilliant job Chloe!! I recall much better the Lockerbie tragedy not least because I lived and continue to live in Scotland, so do please remake that, I would get a lot out of it. The reason india shouldn’t trust the Canadian counter parts rather taking care of their enemies by their own means.
A Green dot aviation and Disaster Breakdown collab? I’m ready for this
I live in Vancouver myself, and this is my first time hearing this story.
Rest in peace to everyone who died in this incident.
Doesn't surprise me at all that a Canadian has never heard of this tragedy before today smfh!
You've never heard of this because it goes against Western narratives. Bet you've heard about Indian "atrocities in Kashmir"? That is because it fits in with Western agenda. But you would have never heard of "Kashmiri Pandit Genocide", right? That one goes against Western narrative on India. West has a total stranglehold on information dispensing mechanisms in this world and they wield it like a weapon. There is a reason you know of India's "Caste System" but not of its "Reservation System". And the list goes on and on.
You live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and you've never heard of Air India 182, the biggest terrorist attack in Canadian history?
@@stephenc6955I have read that most Canadians don't know about this incident
@@TONI__KROOS Half of Canadians are more worried about things going on in the USA than their own country.
Thank you for telling this story to the world. Everyone needs to know the reality of what these people are capable of.
Canadian authority has always been a joke.
The thing about Jeannie Adams is that people are generally helpful - society wouldn't work if people weren't generally helpful and kind. And unfortunately this means if someone wants to cause harm, they can easily take advantage of this.
That poor woman. She was literally doing what, for the vast majority of other passengers, would have been the right, helpful thing to do, and she must have been left with horrific trauma and guilt as a result (even though it wasn't her fault, or even her responsibility).
So infuriating! There are people doing more time for petty crimes than these pieces of trash got. Great video though. Yes - I would love to see a new Lockerbie video.
The canadian govt is known to have a soft spot for these khalistani extremists, even to this day they host them in their country happily.
Many reasons to love Canada. But their government support for K terrorists is alone sufficient enough to make me dislike Canada wholeheartedly.
@@elgaatooo just making up sh#t. Or are you actually that obtuse and you really believe what your e written? Not sure which is worse.
I remember watching these folks get on the plane in Toronto that day. My family and I were going to Scotland on an Air Canada flight. We were so sad to hear what happened to them all after we landed.
😔
The production value on this video is basically unrecognizable from your earlier videos. It's awesome to see your channel grow and improve!
This incident was truly heart breaking to learn about when I first saw it on an episode of Mayday. So many things went wrong at the worst possible times to make this happen, and I hope the world learned some lessons from it, even if it wouldn't prevent other tragedies.
Nope. There is one more Tredeu right now and openly supporting Khalistani terrorists. Some of their sympathizer are even MP in current government.
@@raulcharasi7424 That is wholly untrue! And learn to spell basic words and names.
@@ditzygypsyt is true, it's Gurratan Singh, he is the brother of Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada's federal NDP party. Gurratan is a khalistani and calls the deadly riot in 1984 a "genocide" which is was not. He leaves out the fact that it was in response to Indira Gandhi's two Sikh bodyguards assassinating her. Those two guys never lived to see the outcome but they knew Sikhs would be endangered and didn't care because in their minds they were saints and martyrs...but they caused the deaths of tons of Sikhs. It's their fault they lit the match, Congress saw the job they started and finished it. Many years later KPS Gill managed to crush the khalistani insurgency which also involved khalistanis murdering tons of Sikhs, and Gill was a Jat Sikh, a high caste. Gill was called the Lion of Punjab for good reason.
@@stevenseagull7.7bviews47 What fuddu logic is this? Yes it was a genocide of Sikhs and no the 2 bodyguards did not cause it, the congress and stupid supporters did it. Would you blame the muslim rioters who set the Godhra train ablaze or the BJP leaders who attacked the babri masjid, knowing it would cause issues? Start calling things as they are. The Khalistani terrorists need to be singled out and eliminated, but dod just label anyone and everyone as Khalistani and go around killing them
@@raulcharasi7424pls fox your grammar
I rarely comment on any video, but I have to say that the extra time you have been able to put into this video is evident from the start. ( as of writing this, i am 2 minutes in!) Your dedication to high quality, well researched and respectful videos have always wowed me. - A long time lurker. Please keep it up!
The same is happening all over again in 2023 and Canada has still not learnt from his mistakes! Pathetic
Canada, bad India is good? Hmmm
@@ASTeer1699why the fk Canada has to decide India is bad.. We didn't did terrorist attack on you
Proof?
You learnt a lesson or need more time? No matter what comparison you make, India is no comparison to Canada. None.
Interesting fact. There have been three flights numbered 182 that have been major crashes.
PSA 182 in 1978 in San Diego, 144 dead.
This flight, Air India 182 in 1985, 329 dead.
Sriwijaya Airlines in Indonesia in January 2021, 62 fatalities.
I am normally not superstitious, but I would be a little uneasy boarding a flight 182. 😳
#191 also had major crashes,
American 191 and Delta 191
China airlines 611 and DHL 611
Yeah that's so creepy. 191 is the worst. AA, DL, and Comair 5191.
1907. GOL 1907 and Kazakh 1907, both mid air collisions
Two different TWA 800s, 32 years apart: Rome, 1964; and off New York, 1996.
Thank you so much for taking the time to produce this amazing video Chloe hopefully you'll be able to do more videos like this :)
Of course!! You're so welcome :)
@Disaster Breakdown btw watch out for liars.
@@GigaChadMain69420 huh?
Holy cow! The production quality is crazy for this-and it really surprised me to hear Green Dot at the beginning!
Another great video. You’re always so respectful with these unfortunate events.
Definitely your best video so far, and it's clear that relaxing the schedule paid off by enabling you to cover this complex story in the detail it deserves. Looking forward to the next one!
I really like the format of this video, Chloe! It's apparent that the additional time allowed you to create a really high quality video, and it was extremely enjoyable to watch. And that intro with Green Dot Aviation really pulled me in!
Just when I thought your videos couldn't get any more intriguing and informative!! Such a terrifying and heartbreaking disaster but tactfully recounted. Prayers to those involved. Thanks Chloe, once again. Loved the collab with Green Dot as well!
Chloe, This is brilliant. Brilliant coverage and storytelling ❤ And Green Dot, Thank you for the commentary of The pilots of the Flight. RIP the 329 Lives lost on the flight 💔😭😭😭
Stop feeding his delusion.
@@Vicus_of_Utrechtthis doesnt affect you at all, so leave it
Growing up in Montreal at the time I remember hearing about this as it unfolded, and seeing the changes to security processes afterwards. The complete shambles of a criminal investigation was something I followed with growing horror.
canada is a fertile soil for khalistani extremist, khalistani extremist are elected and praised by mr trudaeu.
just 2 days before khlistani made a doll of indir gandhi ex prime minister of india who was assassinated by sikh extremist.... getting shot by them ruclips.net/user/shorts52n568XchsI?feature=share
Yeah, the West excels at selective outrage. And then they want to talk to India about "Ukraine".

It came out very recently from C.S.I.S that the Canadian prime Minister at the time (Brian Mulroney) was actually made aware something like this could happen but likely chose to ignore it
1985 was a pretty bad year for aviation since you had this and then two months later Delta Airlines Flight 191, JAL Flight 123 and British Airtours Flight 28M in quick succession.
Also, Pierre Trudeau is Justin's father. The Canadian premiership must be one big pile of nepotism.
Iberia 610 also happened in 1985. Pilot error leading to CFIT
Big congrats to you on this, Chloe!
This was so well covered and you can see the extra time to make it helped to pack in all that information so well!
I definitely look forward to watching these longer form videos in future!
the production quality of your videos and just incredible delivery on information will never not be amazing. you're so incredibly underrated, thank you for sharing such important cases from commercial flight history and keeping those lost remembered.
Loved this longer-format video. Very impressive jump in quality from even the usual high standard! Also loved the cameo from Green Dot! Two of my favorite aviation-focused channels collaborating is always a treat! Please take all the time you need to continue producing videos of this caliber!
This is truly one of the most horrific, painful, and infuriating disasters. May all who lost their loved ones find peace. And this needs to be stopped.
Thank you. 😭😫💔It’s not yet ok. It was an unbelievable loss and the motivation was so irrational, I think many of us are still carrying so much grief and no hope for justice.
Forget all those dumbed down, breathlessly sensationalist and endlessly repetitive "documentaries" on tv. THIS is, what a real documentary looks like!
You described thosr "documentaries" exactly. Ugh.
They don't feel the need to become the story. It is a refreshing change from much of what is out there. I have to say though, the channels that deal with air accidents, incidents, and terrorism, are often well done.
Professionaly made.
I watched another documentary on this exact same incident. They even showed the bodies and a bit of the rescue operation. I could not sleep.
This is a phenomenal breakdown of this event! One of the best I have seen. I love the longer format videos. It allows you to give details that you wouldn't be able to provide with a 15 or 20 mins video. Great job!
Thank you for this video. I was a kid when I heard about this air crash. One of the flight attendants was a family friend. I could never find any information that is so detailed.
I love the extra boost within the quality, you’ve always produced high quality content and this has raised the bar even higher. Hopefully we can have more longer videos about the bigger air disasters
My prayers for all the victims of this monstrous tragedy !
This is an accident I’ve always been intrigued by, but there was never enough information. Turns out, it was much worse than I expected. Thank you for covering this topic.
The 4 more days of waiting were definitely worth it.
Also, you should try branching out into some different types of disasters, like maritime disasters, considering you’ve already done some rail disasters.
YAY! Love you and your work Chloe! I support you and support your awesome, intelligent, engaging content. The excitement I feel when you put out content is beyond what I feel for any other channel. Thank you for your time
In the words of one baggage handler at the Toronto Airport: "I strongly feel, they should have kept that one bag."
Specifically, Antonio Coutinho.
Lol now the assasination of a Sikh Canadian , possibly by Indian RAW ...
Canada India relations are going south very fast now , especially under that oaf Trudeau
OMG A collab with Green Dot Aviation?? Y’all are my top two aviation channels!! This is awesome, Chloe!
On a serious note, thank you for covering this incident. It is absolutely tragic and shows how depraved and horrible some people can be, taking lives without compunction.
The killing of 15000+ Sikhs(mostly during 1984) in the most horrific way at that time along with the destruction of the Holiest site of their religion, I guess was not a depraved or a horrible act according to western standards or double standards OOPS!! Although, an eye for an eye and lives for lives is not a justifiable solution but the full context must be known!
@@staniststan6509Literally does not give the thumbs up to justify the removal of innocent people. No matter the occasion or reason. The full context is that there are awful individuals in the world who are not afraid to share how cruel they can be at a moments notice, and you don't even need to be known to them.
Great to see the collaboration with Green dot aviation. You always tell these stories with a great degree of respect .
Kindest regards from Ireland.
Insanely amazing cinematic intro. Gave me chills. Thank you for making content that's interesting but also very respectful. I like that you focus on memorializing losses and learning from mistakes/failures that contribute to tragedies like these.
Wow, this is cinematic work! I’m floored at the quality and collaboration of this video. This is worth the longer wait for new content. Well worth it. Well done, you all! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Probably one of the best videos to date from you. Wasn't expect Greendot Aviation being a feature in this one
Excellent production value on this one, Chloe! Enjoy Green Dot Aviation for contributions to this one. Thanks so much!
Sadly, I remember this event very well. I helped retrieve some debris, overhead cabin doors and trim from this B747 washed up on a beach in West Wales. It was collected by Welsh Police. Thanks for the video!
Omg😢
hats off for such careful, thorough and thoughtful work you did on this video, and all your videos where that's concerned
The production quality from both of these channels are SO GOOD!! It's hard to believe it's free! Thank you! ❤️❤️
Great job Chloe. I love your videos but this week's one was on a whole new level. Keep up the great work.
Love from Ireland.
The extra time was time well spent!! Another amazing video! I'm all for the longer format, and I'm not worried about how long it takes for the video to come out. This has to be the best someone has explained this disaster. I had seen so many air india documentaries. This has to be most in-depth and I learnt so much more

This was incredibly well made. Great work Chloe!
Loved it! Your narration is the best and it's great to see how cinematic these are! In addition to your usual thorough research, and flawless presentation of the facts and circumstances of course!
