- Howdy y'all! Today I dig into my Digitech Genesis 1, and make a case for why these units don't deserve to be forgotten about!

Thanks for watching!
great unit. i think it outshines its price and its bad rap. i bought 2 of them for 30 bucks each used and probably the best money i've ever spent...and i've got all the premium overpriced pedals...
I agree! I let go of this one because I knew in my heart it’d probably collect dust. I’m 1000% on the hunt for the Genesis 3 however, and a few of the last digitech workstations.
I hope to see more feel this way as time goes on :)
Bro, i'll buy it off you, because i desperately want this pedal badly!!!!!!!
@@TheQShow the Control X was perfectly paired for the Genesis 3 as the “foot controlX” I was lucky to get ahold of 2 with the original box and manuals thank goodness because the EQ on the Genesis 3 is crazy in how much you can blend cabs and heads and hours on end on EQ on the processor alone.I started with this unit, good memories.Thank you for this.
best presentation of this unit...
@@marekmosiadz1127 that means a lot, ty!
Thanks man. I've had one forever and now I think I'll fire it up after sitting in a box for 20 years.. peace
This makes great with headphones or pc speakers or anything with a 3.5 mm aux input. And it has a killer distortion, one of the heavier sounds I've heard from a single device.
Great overview for an underrated FX unit. My brother left one of these at home when he moved and I'm impressed by the sound quality and features (especially for the price). I tested it with a Fender P-Bass and it sounds great. I like how you can tap the tempo of the delay so you don't have to fiddle with an ambiguous knob or set the exact time in milliseconds. The delay and tremolo can recreate the bass guitar from "One of These Days" by Pink Floyd and that's just 2 effects. The unit gets warm quickly but I guess that's to be expected for a smaller unit. I need to test the GNX3 but it looks like it has a steeper learning curve with the extra effects and features
Thanks for the video I still have my original Genesis 1. I bought it maybe 20 year s ago. I set it up from time to time. I mostly use the chores and reverb tones. Fuzz is fun too.
Nice! I must say, like you, the modulation effects and the fuzz are my favorite. It’s incredible the sounds digital pedals were getting even back then 🤩
I'm planning to integrate my old Genesis 1 into the signal-chain alongside my EBS pedal stack, because there arena som really nice sounds in the Genesis 1 that I really like.
Having recently procured a behringer fz3 clone, which is (to me) a smarter fuzz face I can say the fuzz setting I was a little mystified by here is 100% that. And pretty on point at that!
Nice video review. Were you playing into an amp or direct?
Thank you for the kind words!
I was running this speaker out into a cab sim (via load box). This is better than with the room reflections in my small space imo.
The amp is a Series Lab5 with eq neutral, the amp to me is sorta dumble/fender-ish but with miles of headroom, the amp doesn’t clip at any point in the vid.
The guitar despite its shape is fender scale, one can consider it a sorta.. hard tail super strat? Hope this all helps
Bro, i miss her dearly!!!! I grew up with this pedal!!! It means so much to me!!!!!!
I am surprised no Metal musician knows about this!!!
Do you know where i can buy this?
It’s already sold! You’d have to look around places like reverb, it hasn’t been made for some time. 😅
But! There’s a genesis 2 and 3, I’m personally on the lookout for a good 3.
Which sound did you like the most? I could probably reccomend a few options :)
@@TheQShow
Definitely Rectified!!! \m/
Great video by the way!
@@ProjectCreativityGuy96 ty! I’ve a video coming out that highlights what a jcm800 and a dod supra distortion have in common. It’s amazing what sort of tones you can get for less money if you know a little bit about the amp circuitry 😁
About the rectifier, most any digitech multi fx has it not the literal rectifier setting, a Mesa dual rec modeled in there. Stuff like the RP70 have one but a cabinet is bundled with it, less versatile.
However stuff like the genesis line or rp 100 and up have the ability to move them around (or lift it entirely). Try snagging any of the above and you’ll have your digitech recto tone :)
I have the Genesis 3 is very nice. I like much.
Muito bom video.

100% on my list of things to get! What’s your favorite sound from it?
