Having lived in Italy for 20+ years gives special meaning to becoming a full citizen. He has been living as an Italian so many years, what took so long for this to happen?

Oh we always had black people in Italy. It's just that no one want to admit it, moreover WW2 and the racism imposed by the germans tried to wipe out their history.
Even regular Italians that many consider just "white" became "white" just around the '80s.

The question is, if he was not a "tik-tok star", would he have received Italian citizenship?
Does he have siblings? Are they citizens now as well or just him?
Simple answer no
most likey not
There are strict requirements to obtain citizenship - need to have lived in Italy for 10+ years, be able to support yourself financially, pass tests to prove you're fluent in Italian, etc. If you can prove you have Italian blood in your family the process is much quicker
They don't just hand those out but if you meet the requirements you can definitely become a citizen.
@F. A. I have bad news for you: people with money always get their way, no matter the country. Mafia has little to do with it
Well let me tell you this: my in laws are cubans. They're all black but they have an italian ancestor. Since they managed to prove it with some documents they got Italian citizenship "the same day" and got their passports whithin a few weeks. They have never lived in Italy and still don't live there. Also I don't think that Kaby only got his passport because he's famous. He's never said that himself. When you want to get citizenship there are requirements and you also simply have to apply and wait. Who knows when he applied. And also it's much worse than that where I live: I was born and raised in Switzerland (a country just next to Italy) and I had to apply for the passport and hand in a million documents, get my face printed in the local newspaper, find 3 people who can talk "nicely" about me, pay enormous fees, learn all kinds of stuff about Swiss geography and history and pass a written and a speaking test only to wait 7 full years to finally get it. And still Swiss people tell me I'm a Swiss only on paper. Imagine being born and raised in a place, finish university and try to live a normal life but get told on a daily basis that you don't fit.
It was super easy for me being Canadian and getting an Italian passport. It took 2 years.

I was born in Germany from Italian parents and lived 66 years there. When I tried to apply for German citizenship in my early 20s, they put a price tag corresponding to 3 months worth of income on it. I opted for my first used car and never looked back. Now the cost is down to around 150 Euros, but as an bavarian peculiarity, I would have to drop my Italian passport. In other federal states you may hold dual citizenship, which is why Turkish politicians hold elections rallies in Germany.
In contrast when I married my wife she received an Italian passport on the spot and could keep her german citizenship.
So whoever thinks Italy is fussy about citizenship should broaden his horizon.

Congrats to him!
