- What's your favourite Puma running shoe?
Puma is making waves in the running world and the Deviate Nitro 2 will certainly create ripples through the running community. I had the privilege of reviewing this shoe and I must say... this shoe is definitely worth checking out.

The Deviate Nitro 2 reignited my enjoyment in running.
Very underrated for sure!
Love this! Such a big statement and I couldn’t argue with it. I have enjoyed my running in it
Under-rated is an understatement... hehe! If you want value for your money, the buck stops here for me. And the Pumagrip Outsole... enough said, the best outsole in the running shoe market as of date. Good job Puma👍
AGREE totally!!!!
Puma is doing amazing! I have to agree with you about the brand and their products. I had never really appreciated Puma as a running brand until the DN Elite 2. We are living in a good time in terms of running and running shoes
My favourite shoes of the year, onto my second pair. They do almost everything 👍🏻
Can’t argue with you, they are amazing shoes to be fair. A good all rounder
same will get another pair, mine just arrived yesterday before my run, so I tested them out and instantly love them, they're usually on sale now as clearance item, sign that it will get discontinued soon when the upgrade arrives.
So glad to hear you confirming my thoughts on this shoe, I have around 350km in mine and I love them over all speeds and distances! I always reach for them when I'm heading out :) great job as always Aubrey.
Thank you Tim… yeah it was a great week of running in this shoe for sure. I enjoyed and can see why people love this shoe as much as they do.
I love mine. Bought pair 4 pairs. Whoever decides the colorways over at Puma deserves a raise! Even at slower paces, the foam feels magical. Whereas in my Endorphin Speeds I would need to push much faster to get the same magical feeling.
4 pairs???? That is true love! I love this!
Great and versatile shoe. I have almost 500 miles on my pair and the foam still feels great. The outsole is mostly worn down where I toe off but still OK everywhere else. Definitely great on wet ground and I've used them on the dry dirt trails we get here in the western U.S. Personally, I think they are great looking. If I were to change anything, I'd make v3 more rockered; keep everything the same but make the geometry more like Asics Glideride.
For U.S. viewers, I hear Dick's Sporting Goods has it for US$90 for the black colorway but I think you have to put it in the cart to see the price.
I just love how this community works. Thank you for alerting the U.S. people to the deal. This is definitely a great shoe and one that deserves all the attention it gets and more!
I think that colorway is awesome! It almost has a stealth look to it. I prefer it to the bright blue or red.
I fully agree with you. This is a great color way for sure but my criticism is more about the general design.
Subscribed. This was a great honest review. Excellently produced video as well.
Thanks for the sub! It means a lot and great to have you on board
Great review, Aubrey. Bonus points for the landmark running footage!
Thank you so much. It’s always a privilege running in such an amazing city
The colourways for this shoe are all beautiful. Fantastic shoe all around...maybe even their best shoe....
I love that there are so many people that love this shoe. Puma is definitely making waves with their lineup.
so funny I was just looking at that shoe to pick up how ya doing brotha looking great great review sold me ty God bless to you and your family enjoy your holidays 🙏 😊
It’s always good reading your comments, always a lot of positivity and well wishes in them. Thank you so much. I definitely recommend this shoe
I have been a PUMA fan boy in recent years. I bought Velocity Nitro 1 (VN1), Liberate Nitro 1 (LN1), Deviate Nitro Elite 1 (DNE1), Deviate Nitro Elite 2 (DNE2) and finally Deviate Nitro 2 (DN2).
DN2, I have is 75th anniversary edition. It is actually nicer looking than the one you are holding. There were better looking colorways as well. The price in US is $160 (your video said $120) but I got the 75th anniversary edition from PUMA for $90+tax (after discount and coupon).
I am using DN2 as a premium daily trainer. I initially thought it could be an alternative to Saucony Endorphin Speed (it is not) I personally I prefer Hyperion Max for tempo runs. However, DN2 as a daily trainer makes more sense, and it will be durable thanks to great outsole coverage.
PUMA is offering good value and performance, and runners better pay attention!
Today I ran in my pair of DNE1. DNE1 is much lighter and faster shoe than DNE2, but DNE2 is more comfortable for longer marathon paced runs. Especially, heel hold is better in DNE2.
I love this, and you’re right. Puma is doing amazing things. As for the price, I got that price directly from the website and it may because of the Black Friday timing.
I also love your comment because you offer such an in-depth understanding of this shoe and the puma lineup.
In terms of the look, I wasn’t referring to the colourway. I meant the design over overall and not the colours. The other shoes make a big statement visually.
It’s a shame because I haven’t ran in previous versions to offer a comparative view but I fully trust your contribution. Thanks for that
I love Pumas nitro lineups, amazing shoes. Currently have the Velocity & Magnify's, will check into the deviates when they are on sale here
I’m genuinely excited about trying out the Magnify and Velocity. Haven’t ran in these at all.
Impressive shoe. Mine is clocking 1,100 kilometers, and it's still holding up remarkably well.
Wwwhhhhoooooaaaa! That’s how to get the most out of a running shoe for sure
Good job Aubrey. I am late to the party for the Deviate Nitro 2, but I tried a pair on today and I was surprised how good they felt out of the box and walking around the store. I told the owner, I got to give these a go as they felt great and I saw many positive reviews on them. I walked out of the store with them on and went for a 7 mile trek to my car. They felt great. I wanted to keep going. I got the white with orange strip around them. Look nice, feel nice. I was surprised at how cushioned they feel with a little bounce and how comfortable they felt.
Puma is definitely stepping up and competing with the big names. I was also surprised because I had not really given them a chance as a running brand
I own a pair and I love running in them.
It’s a great shoe and I can’t fault it
Taken your advice and pulled the trigger on these, looking forward to giving them a try
I feel the pressure now 😂😂😂. Please make sure you review these as well, I’d love to know your opinion.
@@AubreyRunning ha ha I’m no RUclipsr!
Good as always Aubrey.
Thanks again! Also.. so good to here from you! Thank you Jackie
I am 25 miles in the year using these thanks to your review and just coming here to say thank you! These shoes provide enough cushion but also give me that extra push forward. For sure better than New Balance Supercomp elite V3.Totally recommend it 10/10!
Question Aubrey what is another shoe that’s similar to this one that you would recommend with no carbon fiber plate? cheers!
That’s a tough question for sure… because the next step after this one is always the Deviate Nitro Elite 2. Maybe try Saucony Ride 17
Agree it's underrated in exposure, as more people lean towards carbon or endorphin speed immediately. But slightly overrated or maybe misunderstood in performance. The plate/foam combination give the expectation of a supershoe, but I still find it a slightly upgraded daily trainer. I love it, it's not overly complicated and you have to put in work still, compared to race day shoes, perfect area for training imho.
It’s exactly that, the combination of the foam and the plate with a perfect outsole and price. I can’t fault the shoe apart from its look compared to other Puma shoes. It’s an amazing shoe all round
3 DN2's and 1 DNElite 2. That's how i love this shoe! Might make it to 5 before the 3rd version's release 😂
This needs to be done… which one will you get before the 3rd version drops?
this black gold combo is great.
I like this colour way for sure. I’ve seen others and they look great too. I also love what they’ve done with the blue and red combos
Word. If one can use just one shoe in the whole world, this is it. This is the ultimate daily trainer, which is good for everything for a ridiculous price. Also, deviate nitro elite 2 is seriously good. A supershoe, without being a supershoe. Almost every Puma running shoe feels like an actual shoe, not a sport equipment like the Alphafly for instance. No other brand can do that. In price-quality ratio Puma is the best. I highly recommend them for everybody.
“A super shoe without being a super shoe” perfectly worded. Thank you for this comment.I couldn’t have phrased it any better
I had the v1 of this shoe and i was left very disappointed. Looks like Puma have really done well with the v2, might look at picking up a pair because i recently purchased the Boston 12's and they for me are really underwhelming! You're looking well bro, keep up the great work champ 💪🏻
Thank you my man… I truly appreciate that. It been a lot of work. As for the shoe… I’m not at all aware of V1 and how it performed but I can definitely assure you that this show is worth considering. The only issue I have with it is the look of it, I feel like Puma can push the look a little bit. I know it’s easy for me to say but I’ve seen them do it in their other shoes.
My regards to your Mrs too my man
@@AubreyRunning I've just gone and purchased a pair for £90 😂
She passes on her regards 👍🏻
From a price point perspective plus Puma’s occasional discount, this is a perfect example of an all rounder for a beginner to experience runner. Plenty cushion for long easy runs to explosive speed workouts assisted by the carbon plate. Puma grip? Say no more.
I could agree with you more… say no more indeed! This is definitely an easy recommendation
The mortgage comment hit me so hard
Saying it like it is 😂😂😂
Aubrey finally you got your feet into the ‘shoe of the year’ !! Haha. You’ve said everything here about how good this shoe is so wont bore you by repeating it but to address the one negative you mentioned the aesthetics ( the look!) well it looks like unfortunately for you puma sent you the worst looking colorway in the deviate 2 line up! I have 2 pairs , one white with black and blue trim for summer and a black and lime green pair for winter and both are works of art to look at!! I wore my white pair for a trail half marathon in the summer and they were fantastic! That puma grip outsole just ate up the trails. V2 is a big step on from the V1 so I’m super excited to see what Puma do with the V3 next year but for now the Deviate Nitro 2 is a ‘go too’ 👏👍
I genuinely love this shoe… I think Puma is doing great stuff in the running world. The one thing about the look about this shoe was not necessarily about the colour way. The colours can always be changed and themed specifically for events but I meant the design itself. I actually did like this colour way because we are going into winter so brighter colours show dirt badly but I mean the actual design of the shoe itself. I think it would be amazing to refresh the look away from the standard look it has.
On the flip side, it’s definitely underrated! Can’t believe you have 2 pairs of them…
@@AubreyRunning Aubrey thanks for taking time to reply. Looks like we’ll have to agree to disagree about the design of the shoe but that’s what makes it great. I bought a second black pair on eBay for £61 !!! because I didn’t want to ruin my white pair during the winter. !!! Lol
the OG orange looks really good tho
Facts!!! Have you seen the velocity colour ways?
I can't justify anymore running shoes! 🤣 great review Aubrey!
No you definitely need to refrain sir 😂😂😂. We need to make sure we get the most of out of those Cloud Eclipse shoes first.
@@AubreyRunning a glorious pair of shoes!
Hi,is this a stable shoe?..im currently running in the forever run..is this as comfortable..thanks!
It’s a neutral daily trainer with a PWRPlate in it. It’s stable but not a stability shoe (hopefully that answers you)
Puma just doesn't have the availability in the circles (stores and clubs) I run in. The visuals Aubrey talks about...is it an attempt at old school?
Shoe is fantasy for speed. I got one pair for 100$ but they are sold out now. Easily best 100$ spent on the shoes
Love this! I can’t argue with you at all. I feel privileged to have had it gifted to me
How has the durability of the midsole held up? I loved my velocity nitro 2, until the midsole lost all its cushioning much quicker than other shoes I've had (i took it to 200 miles, I'd hoped for more). Great video as always.
I have almost 500 miles on mine and the midsole still feels great. Disclaimer: I am only 130 lbs.
@@kuriosites That’s good to hear. I’m a little heavier (160 lbs), and I think the deviate nitro 2 is worth a go.
I think it is too
Lol, I love the disclaimer
I believe others have answered for me on this one
it's not underrated at all , it's a good shoe , giving endorphin speed a ru.for it's money l , Best training shoe that,! nice one champ
I actually think it’s underrated my man. It deserves people talking about it a lot more. It’s a great shoe and I love what Puma are doing currently
@@AubreyRunningplenty of reviewers have rated this shoe highly. I haven't seen anyone underating it. Although personally I can't run in it. It hurts my left ankle.
@@AubreyRunning I even recommended it to my friend n he got it ,a day before yester, he loved it!
waiting to hit some 100€ range deal :)
😂😂😂 I hear you. It’s always about the deals
Btw Aubrey, Puma is not the first to "innovate" different colours for left and right shoe, but for the life of me I can't remember which other running shoes did that! 🤷🏻♀
Agreed, coming from a basketball background I e seen this before as well but I love seeing it in a running shoe today in my time.
@@AubreyRunning Oh yeah yeah Nike sneakers for sure, and oh yes of course Nike offered it for the Pegasus 38 too, but I could swear there was another more elite running shoe a couple of years ago?!!
What app to use when tracking mileage of the shoe??
I use Strava
@@AubreyRunning does it need to be pro version?
@@user-wz5vc4qp5k nope. Just log it under the gear section
0:22 what name music?
Sorry I don’t know or it’s just a stock song from the Envato website for production in videos
Its not 120$ though. Sale price maybe but its marketed for 160$
Gotcha!
How are these for wide feet? I’ve always stayed away from puma because they tend to run narrow on their shoes.
I honestly wish I could answer for you but I’d be making it up. I am genuinely unsure because I have a “standard” foot size and width
Puma car tires 😂
😂😂😂😂
Because of this review I placed an order for a pair from Puma.
